“We hope it never changes!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2011

We stayed at the Riad Dar One for three nights from 22-25 January, and enjoyed it enormously. The location is extremely convenient, quiet and central at the same time, in a narrow alley (gated and with security) on the edge of the Mellah and just a 2-minute walk to the Bahia Palace and 10 minutes to the Jeema el Fna and the souks. We had the smallest room (Petit Prince), which is cozy and welcoming, with a very comfortable firm bed and an excellent shower. We felt no need to have a larger room, as the common spaces are extremely enjoyable and peaceful, with a beautiful pool in the center of the courtyard and a lovely lounge with fireplace. Jean Peres is an excellent owner and host, always happy to chat and to offer advice and insights. He has beautifully designed and furnished the riad himself, and clearly enjoys welcoming and advising his guests. Breakfast is lovely, with tea, coffee, fresh yogurt, bread, jams, honey, and juice served on demand (no restrictive time limits!), and one can choose where to have it--in the courtyard, the lounge, the roof terrace, or even one's own room. In addition to Jean, Isham and the rest of the staff are just wonderful; they are kind, efficient, and helpful. They gave us very good advice on restaurants, booked us an excellent taxi for an evening outing (Abdel, taxi no. 720; ask for him!!), and provided refreshing mint tea and sweets when we returned home from sightseeing. All in all, a beautiful, characterful, and friendly home in Marrakech. If we are fortunate enough to return to this wonderful city, we won't be staying anywhere else!

The moment we entered Riad Dar One we realized we were somewhere special.
The atmosphere of the Riad is very private, relaxing and charming.
The location is really quiet and interesting although only a couple of minutes from one of the main streets.
Jean, the owner, and all the staff are great.
They are extremely helpful and kind if you need tips about restaurants, shopping or something interesting to see but first of all they create a warmth and ease that make you feel at home.
Breakfast is delicious and you can have it whenever wherever and the dinner experience is not to be missed.
We have great memories of one night we had dinner in the Riad; it was so romantic and food was amazing.
To be recommended to all those who need to relax in a magic athmosphere.

Riad Dar One is everything the great reviews say. Jean has designed and furnished it with tremendous flair. The beds are sooooooo comfortable; the baths deep and inviting and roses everywhere smell wonderful.. Six of us took over the Riad for 4 nights and we never wanted to do anything other than stay 'at home' with some delicious Moroccan wine and a sumptuous (or light, according to what had happened in the day) dinner, cooked by the amazing Amina. Jean's team - with him since day 1 - are fantastic- smiley; helpful and do all they can to ensure you have a good time.. And how super to get the final bill and be so pleasantly surprised - terrific value and a huge pleasure to discover that cups of tea and bottles of water were complimentary. Thank you all..... We spent a week at the Riad and loved our stay. It's clean, quiet and tastefully furnished. It has a nice terrace and a small lounge area with a fireplace. The owner, Jean, helped us incredibly with planning our schedule: restaurant recommendations and booking the spa, cooking class and an excursion to the Atlas mountains. The staff were very friendly and nice and we really enjoyed the few meals we had there. Our room was super cute but could have done with better lighting. Overall, the Riad has a lovely homely feel to it.

We based our decision to stay at Dar One on the fantastic reviews given on Trip Advisor. Despite the central location of the Riad everything else was very average. We stayed in the ground floor room which boasted a constant smell of sulphur, no natural lighting at all, a bed that was harder than sleeping on bricks and the added bonus of being party to staff squabbles.
Although a full breakfat is available we were not offerred it except on one of the days of our 6 day trip and when we tried to cancel our accomodation we were told that we would be accountable for the full amount (no option for a 24 hour cancellation charge)
Overall the place was fair but for what we were charged there were many others that would have matched and excelled compared to Dar One.

What an incredible title...

Our riad, opened 5 years ago, has received more than 250 nice and friendly comments and, of course, many of our guestd have been hosted in the same room than this person.

He is, by chance, the only one to have complained about the conditions and the services we provide and we feel sorry he didn't informed us about it during his stay.

We can find solutions if we're awared of what is not as expected.

However the real problem was this person wanted to cancel his stay the second day he arrived to go to Fes (he changed last minute his travel plans). He tried so to leave Dar One and we only told him we'd apply our cancellation policy (he knew to have received it when he booked the room).

Since then all went wrong...

Of course we'll keep and registred his comment to improve again the quality of our hosting and our service appreciated by 99,99 % of our guests.

By the way all the staff of Dar One thanks all our guests that appreciated their stay in our riad and helped us to reach the 5 top riads in Marrakech.

This Riad was truly one of the highlights of our vacation to Morocco. The intimate nature of the Riad allows the staff to provide personal service at every moment. From shopping advice and great food suggestions to step by step assistance from arrival to departure this is one of Marrakesh's best! This Riad was recommended to us and we plan on recommending it to our friends!

Believe in all the wonderful reviews of this hotel. Jean and his team are wonderful! My husband and I just spent our 30th wedding anniversary in Marrakech and we did not choose a better place to spend it than at Riad Dar One. The very professional staff were insconspicuous to give you the privacy of the Riad but would appear when you need them. The breakfast, which was complimentary, could be availed of at any time of the day! Our room had all the luxuries and felt like a five star hotel. There were no phones or a tv in our room, but who cares, we were on vacation! And with Jean who was on hand to give you information about tours, recommended places to visit, even making bookings at the spa and in restaurants, you felt like you were in a 5 star hotel, only better! You felt like you were a guest in Jean's house.

If I had a chance to go back to Marrakech, I would stay in Riad Dar One again.
