“Second trip in 6 weeks ...think that says it all!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2012

i have just returned from my second amazing trip to Marrakech staying at the Riad Dar Fakir, from the moment I made contact to book to the moment we left I found the service faultless!
We arrived at lunchtime after an early start from Gatwick Airport, after being shown to our rooms which were all exceptional and a welcome drink we were served lunch on the roof terrace where indeed we remained enjoying the sunshine and the local vin gris. Dinner was arranged for us in the Riad absolutely superb cuisine. Service here is obviously of great importance and the staff never faltered. Kirsten will make any reservations for you, local guides, restaurants, balloon rides etc. This is a great place to go as a couple small group or like us take over the whole place it felt like a private house party. We have vowed to return every year for that bit of winter sun and amazing hospitality. Well done to all the staff keep doing what you are doing as it is perfection

Just returned from Dar Fakir Riad- Great Website and Photos, unfortunately does not live up to reality when there. (does the camera lie?)
My opinion is that it is overpriced for the standard of accommodation, and I could not recommend it to anyone, even though the day to day staff try their best. It is appoached by a series of entryways/streets approximatly a metre wide, and on our second evening the only light in the entryway had gone out (apparently responsibilty of authorities in Marrakech) Management at the Riad suggested I telephone when returning each evening -and staff would walk us back with a Candle! Why the Riad do not install a external light in a pitch black entryway is beyond me.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

Thank you for your feedback. It is good to know what you thought of your stay however I am surprised at the criticism of the entry to the riad - I know that you wandered the streets of the medina I am sure you will have realised that the streets in Marrakech in general are narrow and windy. I am suprised that unlike other people you did not appreciate the simplicity of finding the riad or it's close location to the square. Exactly this is what most of our guests find so charming. Further as you rightly say we had a problem with the electricity in the road. You might have noticed that 3 lights were out not only ours and it was immediately reported to Radeema. Unfortunately in Morocco response times are not of the same service level that you could expect in Europe and can therefore take a little longer to fix. We therefore offered to walk you to and from the riad every evening. In all fairness whether we offer to do this with a candle or torch is irrelevant. The point is we appreciate our guests comfort and security and it is about being escorted by a person - which you however turned down.
So why you would not mention your concerns to us directly during your stay but first when you have left is beyond me. In terms of fixing an external light we are a step ahead as this has already been implemented.

We spent our first few nights in Morocco at Dar Fakir in Marrakech for our honeymoon. They organised our transfer from the airport to the riad which was essential otherwise we'd never have found it. We arrived quite late but were treated to a wonderful meal with wine. In the morning at breakfast we met Kirsten who spent time with us highlighting the best places to visit in Marrakech. She was extremely helpful and made our stay incredible. The staff were so friendly and nothing was a problem. Our room was beautiful and immaculately clean throughout with an incredible bathroom. It has a generous chill out area on the ground floor and on the terrace which was really relaxing and beautifully decorated. It's location within Marrakech is only a short walk to the medina and main centre. I have rarely experienced such luxury in a hotel and cannot praise Dar Fakir enough. Thank you to Kirsten and the staff, we had a wonderful time and were made to feel very special!

There are over 600 riads in Marrakech and the journey into this one is an eye opener and a great insight into the culture & ambience of this wonderful city.
The market area is a stones throw away but as soon as you start to walk down the alleyway towards dar Fakir you become very aware of the peacefulness descending.
Dar Fakir is a little piece of heaven in this buzzing environment, absolutely stunning Moroccan decor with wonderful attention to detail.
Highly recommended!!

We stayed at Dar Fakir, at a friends suggestion, for a weekend just before Christmas. I wanted to experience staying in a Riad, and this was the perfect anecdote! We were picked up by a driver at the airport, he was very friendly and efficient, took us straight to the medina/square in the old town and then a quick walk to the hotel. The Riad is located in the old town, about 5 minute walk from the markets. The staff in Dar Fakir were super friendly and very, very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The actual Riad is beautiful and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in a Riad, for a true Moroccan experience! We stayed in the Salama Suite and it was a nice size, not big, but not too small, some of the other rooms looked quite small, but cute! I travelled with my husband, who had to work whist there, and the wifi connection etc is good, which he was worried about. Also - I would definitely recommend the Le Bains de Marrakesh Spa, we had 4 hours of (top quality)treatments for £80. Would definitely return with friends in the near future for some sunshine, spa treatments and shopping!

Room Tip: I would definitely recommend you stay in a suite, as the regular rooms are on the small (but cute) s...

My wife and I stayed for four nights last month (November) with another couple. We found the personal service and location excellent. The induction chat at the outset was extremley useful and made one feel like a belonger from the off. Flawless arrangement of transportation to the Airport and the Atlas Mountains depicted the slickness of the operation. The Dar Fakir staff looked after us well into the late evening, providing a real log fire and refrehments.

We had the smallest room by choice which was fine but let down by the small size of the en-suite and the direction of the shower spray did mean you used one towel every day to soak up the floor. We had a window that my wife liked as it allowed cool fresh air in but also allowed Mosque Music and the noise of the Feline Fighters to penetrate the room when opened!

All said - it did seem like a home from home in that you were made to feel as if it was your home while you were there, the sun roof with the many seating options and the relaxed atmosphere were well worth any apparent niggles.

We were pleased with our stay and would return.

Just worth noting, if you have allergies to cats there appears to be a resident cat in this Riad

Thank you very much for your comments. I can assure you the house cat is not a voluntary addition but a sneaky cat that was escaping the weather. We have made sure the cat will not be so keen to return to the riad (animal lovers, be assured no harm was done to the cat)
We have already looked into getting the shower adjusted so that the bathroom is adequate for future guests.
We very much enjoyed having you stay with us.

Had a perfect stay at the Riad. Very service minded staff. Nice with a short informal info " meeti ng". Great breakfast, tea marocco and wine. Location in the Medina (old city) was perfect. Close to everything! They also arranged taxi for 8, when needed. I would love to go back soon.

Room Tip: Room Ahlame!

Hello, you girls did certainly bring some life into the riad during your stay. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed it and we always welcome larger groups. Maybe next time bring a few people extra and have an exclusive rental of the riad?

We spend a lot of time with the guests making them feel welcome in the riad but also at home in the hectic maze of the Marrakech Medina. In total 5 languages are spoken in the riad - English, German, Swedish, French and the local Arabic, Darija. The rooms all have individually embroided bed linen made from Egyptian Cotton. The toiletries provided by Sence de Marrakech are Shower gel, Body lotion, shampoo and hand soap. For the Suite we can provide black soap and a gommage flannel. All rooms and Suites are decorated in elegant beige tadelakt on the walls as well as in the bathrooms.
