“Beautiful & Peaceful Hidden Gem”
Reviewed January 11, 2010

We initally struggled to find the Riad but when we finally got there it certainly did not dissappoint. Such a beautiful and intimate place with amazing staff and owners. The fresh food they made us for breakfasts and dinner was delicious. The lovely cool building was such a perfect and peaceful haven to return to after the craziness of the Souks (which were about a 15 minute walk or £2 taxi ride away). The pool and roof terrace were a lovely bonus and a great place to relax and enjoy the sun. The rooms themselves looked lovely but on closer inspection could have some improvements made here and there. However, I would recommend this Riad to everyone and definitely go there again!

I am not even sure where to start as there are so many wonderful things to say about this place. The decor is fantastic and the whole riad is very very clean. Having breakfast on the rooftop terrace every morning sets you up for a great day. The staff are exceptionally lovely. Offering tea or coffee whenever they see you in communal areas. We brought our own booze which they chilled for us and served with olives, figs and nuts. The food is absolutely divine and matches that of the best resturaunts and the other guests were fantastic.

All in all the BEST place I have ever stayed.

We had a lovely time staying for 4 days in Marrakech at Les Trois Mages. Laura was a godsend even prior to our arrival with emails of information and making arrangements. Briefing on where to go and what to see was honest and unbiased. and great to have from a Brit living the life in Morocco The rooms and roof terrace (with pool - which is excellent to have on the roof and not on the ground floor) where lovely, but it was the staff that made it even more special. They cooked a mean tagine and couscous and looked after you as if you were part of the family.

We stayed in the suite which had a gorgeous sunken bed and great romantic touches. We found it incredibly quiet and relaxing. The staff were incredibly friendly and Laura who owns the place is really sweet and helpful. The breakfast was generous and everything clean and tidy. The roof terrace offered great pool side relaxation and we certainly would have taken our evening meal on the roof if we'd been there longer.
When I checked on the map I was a little worried by the apparent distance from the main square. But dont be put off, it's a short and pleasant walk into the craziness. I definitely preferred being a little further out as the center can be too much.

This was our first trip to Marrakech. It was a bit of a shock as we had never been to Morocco before. Everywhere there are small alleys full of people, donkeys, small carts, small motor bikes, bicycles, water sellers and medicine men etc. The souk is full of colours, smells of spices and new leather.

The staff of Les Trois Mages made our stay perfect. There was always support, whether finding a nice place to eat or an unusual part of the Souk. Saida made us some wonderful Moroccan food. In fact we preferred to stay and eat at the riad. Some of the more western restaurants are quite expensive and actually worse than Saida's cooking. Our room was beautifully decorated. A lot of thought has been given to the decoration through out the riad.

Our most memorable part of the holiday was having breakfast on the terrace by the pool and listening to the 'call to prayer' in the background

It was our first time in Morocoo and we had lots of questions. Laura, the manager, knew the answer to all of them (actually she got her favourite colour wrong!) and was always on hand to help. Les 3 mages is the epitome of quiet efficiency and excellent value.

Food was refreshingly simple and very good. The riad is in a great spot in the NW of the Medina, within an easy walk of everywhere you'll want to go. Close to the souks, the gardens and not far from the French quarter.

Don't hesitate, this is the one to book. Go for the top floor rooms or the suite.

Our stay at Riad Les Trois Mages was truly magical. We were looked after so well by Aiden and the beautiful cooks & staff. My husband flew me to Marrakesh for a surprise birthday gift. On the morning of my birthday Aiden presented a huge bunch of roses at my champagne breakfast. A gift from the hotel, which was so sweet of them all. Aidan was an excellent host, making us feel really at home, showing us the route through the winding streets to the main square and souks plus attending to our every needs. He is extremely conscientious and has a good sense of humour. The owners are very lucky to have him working there as he is destined for much greater things!
The Riad is a slight hike from the main square (15mins+) situated in a back alley. The immediate route to this alley is somewhat dilapidated, but as soon as you get to the lovely front door and step into the cool welcoming Riad, a sense of calmness washes over.
Breakfast was the usual coffee (proper plunger coffee!), pancakes, fruit salad, toasts or whatever we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble to sort out.
The serene bedrooms were beautifully Tadelakt in the tradition style with soft warm colour choices and luscious bathrooms. A medium priced Riad with good choice of interior design that made it that bit special. What made the place was Aiden and the rest of the staff’s hospitality.
The only thing that would put us off staying there again in the future is the longish walk to the main square. After a long day and night walking for hours, the walk back became a bit of a hike, even though you could do it fast in 15 minutes. Although it was kind of nice, as we met some lovely people on the way, plus fed lots of stray cats who were grateful for the tins of mackerel. Patron Saint of the Moggie Kingdom, that's me! Last time I was here I saved a cat and found it a home. We went to visit it after 10 years and was greeted by CousCous the cat, lounging on the hallway chair! A nice retirement. Anyway, I digress.... regarding getting back to the hotel at night.... You could always get a taxi to the alley by the hotel, which would only cost a few £, but at the time, we didn’t think to do that and I kind of liked the night time adventure, even though my feet were killing me, (and yes, I was wearing sensible shoes!).
On my return home, I open the book I had pressed all my beautiful birthday roses into and the scent of the petals filled the room, bringing back the memories of our wonderful time in Marrakesh....
Thank you everyone at Les Trois Mages for making it that bit special and thank you my beautiful husband for some lovely memories... xxx
