“A jewel behind the studded door”
Reviewed January 9, 2011

At the end of a pink-coloured alley you will find a door behind which lies an oasis of peace, good taste and exoticism.

We have just returned from Riad Boussa and heartily recommend it for the following reasons:

its excellent location (a seven-minute walk to the main square) which made it suitable even for an elderly lady

the delightful atmosphere and Brigitte's great attention to every detail in the riad , both in terms of aesthetics and efficiency

a charming and ever-smiling staff

delicious cuisine

a lovely roof terrace where you can relax after exploring Marrakech

last but not least two sweet cats to keep you company

We will definitely be back!

This riad was very nice for my friends. Fabulous rooms, colours and the Bridgette (owner) and Bruno team. Very friendly. The place where the riad is located is very easy to get to from inside the medina. We would go and come as we please. We did not have a chance to eat there but I smelled the food and it was great! Breakfast was always served and upstairs in the terrace if weather is good (normally is) and always yummy! In morrocco the tea is with sugar always so you have to tell them without...;o) If I was to come back i would definitely stay here again - it was easy, convenient, clean, spacious, and just a beauty. Oh, and its away enough to get peace and quiet after the crowds of marrakech!

I loved staying at Riad Boussa as soon as I walked through the door it felt like a little bohemian paradise. Beautifully restored with only 4 guestrooms Riad Boussa has an intimate and cosy feel to it. As soon as we walked in the door we were always met by a member of staff who offered us mint tea and freshly made biscuits, for which there was no charge. I felt really looked after and didn't expect such a personalised service for the rate we paid. Our bags were carried for us, the room was cleaned immaculately every day, if we sat by the fire someone came along and added more wood to the fire, and we were served a really delicious breakfast of freshly made pancakes, bread, fresh orange juice every day. The owner Brigitte was very friendly, helpful and straightforward in all her dealings.

We stayed at Riad Boussa from the 19th to the 23rd of December. It was four of us (2 couples). We really loved our stay at Riad Boussa. Right from the very beginning (from the point of reservations) to the refreshing points of mint tea served and all the arrangements Brigitte made, were all very much appreciated.

On our arrival we were greeted by a driver that Brigitte had organized, - the driver had infact stayed at the airport for an extra 1.5 hours as our flight was delayed, at no extra charge! The Riad is located in the Medina and you can walk everywhere in a matter of 10 to 15 minutes, so the location is fantastic, and you will realize this once you get your bearings. We had our breakfast on the terrace in the morning sunshine which was really awesome. Brigitte gave us maps (which are recommended) for the sites, which made it very easy to navigate your way through the narrow streets in the medina. The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated and the beds were cosy and comfortable .

Brigitte organized a day trip for us to Ouarzazate, with a reputed tour company. We had a fantastic driver and a comfortable 4 x 4, (ask for driver Shakib for he speaks very good English and quite knowledgeable about Morocco in general).

We would definitely recommend this Riad for Marrakech, it’s an oasis in the middle of all the ‘good chaos’ in the medina! Also a special thanks to Bruno and Ali and the chef lady (don’t know her name) for all the things they did to make our stay special.

A word of advice you will feel as if you’re paying a premium for certain services like taxis and day tours however for the safety and peace of mind its sooo worth it.

The "riad" or guest house was very cosy with a lovely courtyard and a roof-top lounge, where we had breakfast in the nice cool Moroccon morning. The riad is tastefully decorated with Moroccan cultural motifs and artefacts, located right smack in the medina or "old town"m and very close to the hustle and bustle of the souks and the Jemaa-elfna market square.

This location provided us with a window into the cultural pulse that Marrakech is so well known for.

We especially appreciated the warm hospitality and excellent arrangements for our needs. The riad provides excellent transfer arrangements to and from the airport, and even obliged to purchase our train tickets to Casablanca, which we couldn't do so online.

Upon our arrival, we were given very useful advise on what to do and see in Marrakech, and we were also recommended to a very experienced and nice tour guide.

The food served at the riad was excellent, better than the food we had at an established restaurant.

The soothing music played for a good part of the evenings was very good, providing a very nice ambience about the place.

The owner-manager and staff were especially warm, helpful and obliging. We were seen off to the door as we left for our next destination. It was quite unlike our stay anywhere else.

Lovely quiet Riad in the absolute heart of traditional Marrakech. Fantastic service, food and atmosphere. The owner was also extremely helpful in helping us arrange a tour to the mountains. Thoroughly recommended!

I stayed at the Riad Boussa with my husband, 2 children and my Mother and Father, and we had an excellent time. Brigitte and Bruno and the team made us feel very welcome. The Riad is beautiful and an oasis of calm. The rooms are lovely with en suites and very clean. Two nights we ate in the Riad, and the food was excellent, the best meals we had in Marrakesh. The first night we had a lovely Lamb Tagine and the second meal was a very yummy chicken couscous. The riad were also able to provide wine and beer with our meals which you cannot get in all the restaurants. Breakfast was lovely and served on the roof terrace. We had pancakes and different types of jam, cake and fresh fruit and orange juice.
We were very well looked after during our stay. On the third day my mother had her mobile phone taken from her pocket in the Medina and Brigitte and Bruno could not have been more helpful. I should point out that although we had this incident the Medina did feel a lot safer than I thought it would be, just be careful when it is crowded at night. On our second day Brigitte had organised a driver and car for a full days sightseeing in and around the Atlas mountains. This I would strongly recommend as it was an excellent day and we felt we saw real Morrocco. The scenery was really stunning and we all thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Would I stay here again?... Definitely, it was a wonderful experience. Thank you Brigitte and the Team.
