This is a wonderful, quiet riad with a relaxed feel and great staff. Well organised airport pick up followed by a lovely welcome with tea and dates, and a mobile phone for queries. The room was a little dark but lovely, well finished with a huge bathroom. We stayed in the suite on the first floor, but saw friends rooms which were all unique and just as nice.

Room Tip: The suite has the bigger bathroom, but the other rooms are just as nice and there isn't much difference in bedroom space.

We stayed at the riad for 7 nights. What a beautiful place, certainly an oasis in the centre of a very busy city. We were the only guests and received a five star service from the staff, Salah ,Hafida, Mirriam ,Rashida ,Jamal and especially Ismail the Host. Nothing was too much trouble, he even took us on a tour of the other Riad's in the Angsana Group in the Medina. British Hotels could certainly relearn the meaning of hospitality.

It's ideally situated to get to the centre easily and if you loose your way the locals are happy to point you in the right direction. Just beware of the traffic as you have to walk in the street in most places as the pavements are taken over by business of all types. You can buy almost anything imaginable including extracted teeth ready to make into dentures.

For those looking for a traditional Riad in the heart of the medina, Angsana is ideal. Keep in mind that this is not a modern hotel and has many of the charms of a remodeled Riad (including some broken tiles and cats wandering around the courtyards). That said, we loved the experience of "traditional Morocco" with 4 star accommodations and 5 star service. The hosts - cous cous (his nickname), Mohammed and the team -- were fantastic. We arrived in the evening and had a personal escort to the main square to find an ATM, then our guide walked us to our dinner spot and left his phone number with the restaurant so that they could call him when we were ready to go back to the Riad. On our first night in morocco, this took away any anxiety and we felt safe getting home through the back alleys of the medina. After the first night, we found our own way safely and securely but the service was top-notch throughout our stay. The breakfast each morning is included in the room rate and was excellent. The lack of exterior windows made our room a bit musty.. But after all, we were in Marrakech and could easily turn on the AC! Great ambiance overall and we'd definitely recommend a stay at Angsana if you wish to stay in the old medina.

Room Tip: There are 6 different Riads in the Angsana collection and it is not clear which Riad you'll get when booking online. Riad Si said and Riad Blanc are steps from each other and 2 of the others are not far. I emailed the hotel to request Si Said, where breakfast is served and they were easily able to accommodate the request. Each Riad has its own charm and design-style.

nice riad with nice and very helpful staff; location is easy to find in complex city like medina; connection with guide also important; staff at reception willing to bring you around location first time in order not to loose way which is for the quests very reassuring

Beautiful small riad with personal service located in quiet part of the Kasbah within the Medina. Lovely room, amazing patio pool area and roof terrace for lazy moments in the sun, drinks etc...
Nothing was too much trouble for the good humoured-staff including sorting out my two key-locked-on-the-inside-of-the-door episodes that necessitated lock removal and providing a very late breakfast for two slow-risers...
The whole Medina is close by for walking from the riad and a cheap taxi ride gets you to the new town area just to the west. Trips further afield can be arranged by the staff including to the Atlas Mountains (recommended).
Noting the rather similar "disappointing" comments I would suggest that staying in an old building in the Medina brings the expected noises and percieved imperfections of decor etc. These are all part of an authentic experience and far outweighed by the location, service, surroundings and atmosphere. If you are wanting sterile perfect rooms and silence you may wish to consider staying outside the Medina in a Western chain hotel.
