“A visual feast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

As beautiful as ever this is a visual treat that should not be missed. One can still imagine the life that was led in the exquisitely decorated rooms and how the walls would have echoed with the sound of the wive's and children's laughter!
There are cool courtyards with fountains and greenery, painted ceilings and doors, arabic friezes and endless rooms of colourful, patterned mosaic tiles.
It's difficult to choose a favourite room and this is all for just 10Dhm, €1, there can't be better value anywhere!
In comparison, the Saadi tombs are disappointing as the rooms are internally inaccessible - this palace tops my list of places to visit.

“Must See ! Bahia Palace”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

Moorish ceramic tile extravaganza! Beautiful examples of inlaid timber and decorated plaster work.
Fruit Grove courtyards with water features create a symphony of design.
When you visit this palace you will have an appreciation of how the royals lived and you will see a fine example of daily life.

“Needs signage”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2013

We spent a day independently in Marrakech and visited the palace. An amazing place but with no signage telling the visitor what the numerous areas were used for or any description of the magnificent decoration. Nor even a descriptive leaflet! Later in our holiday we went on a guided half day tour of historical buildings and revisited the Bahia Palace. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history (only built in 19thC) and explained the decoration, translating the Arabic poetry included in the decoration and describing the use each room was put to. Well worth a visit (entry fee is very cheap) but worth having a guided tour if you want to know anything about the building. The building deserves a rating of 4/5 but is marred by lack of information.

“Beautiful but needs some work.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2013

Loved the storks but the building needs some work. Obviously it must be very expensive for a poor country to pay for all the upkeep on the building but there is a real contrast with rich and poor here. The very rich could pay for more improvements perhaps?
