Wow, what a great place to stay!! We would definitely go hack there.
Firstly, Hamid, who manages the Riad, is super friendly, helpful and accommodating. The Riad is brilliantly located right in the centre of the Medina, only a few (lovely) minutes walk from Jemaa El Fna square - also past the great Cafe Arabe (great decor & food, nice roof terrace, only 2 minutes from the Riad along Mouassine). Looks are deceiving walking up to the front door of the Riad, however, once inside you are in paradise.
Secondly, all the rooms are very clean, comfortable and with fantastic decor - real Moroccan style. We stayed in 3 of their 6 rooms, namely: Doueria (first floor over the main courtyard, biggest of all the rooms & the nicest decor & space, 4m high ceiling above the bed, fireplace, separate toilet & bathroom), Essaouira (first floor over the pool & the pool's courtyard, a semi-private terrace with chairs to relax, a big bathroom with a bath, fireplace, lovely) and Atlas (ground floor, in the main courtyard, small but nice). We recommend (in order of preference, from our experience): Doueria, Essaouira, Bahia & Atlas. The first floor rooms give more privacy as you are able to keep your doors open to get air & light in. However, all the rooms are very cool anyways. The decor in the whole Riad, rooms included, is fantastic, real authentic furniture and fittings with a contemporary feel - an absolute pleasure staying in and coming back to every day / night!!
Thirdly, the breakfast that is served is simple, but lovely: orange juice, coffee, yoghurt, bread and pancakes (or similar sorts of baking). Other food is also available on their menu but we venture out for all our other meals. You can purchase alcohol in the Riad, I think wine and beer (that was all we had). The dining room is next to the swimming pool and have books for chairs for lounging and chilling out.
Fourthly, the roof terrace has cushions and covering for relaxing in the evenings and enjoying the beautiful weather. There are also sun beds on the roof with a dunk pool, for those wishing to catch a tan.
Fifthly, the Riad, as mentioned, is very centrally located, which means that getting there to and from the airport is only about 15 minutes (cost us 100 Dirhams to get back to the airport, but you can haggle for less). However, as the Riad is in the central Medina, cars cannot drive all the way in, so you will have to walk a few minutes from the closest road, down the tiny alleyways to the little door of the Riad.
Lastly, from the extensive research that we did prior to going, I do not think that you will find a better place to stay in for the value for money, look & feel, location and swimming pool. The location is really amazing, you feel as if you are living in the heart of Marrakech and not in some cheasy hotel. Check out [--------------------]for more info / pictures. Enjoy, we did!!!
