“A haven of tranquillity in intense Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

This is my first ever review: this beautifully furnished riad and the hospitality of its staff deserve all the praise I could possibly lavish on them. Greeted by mint tea and cookies upon arrival, we were immediately upgraded to a bigger room with a sublime spa-kind shower room for the first two nights. Make sure you have at least one meal here as the female chef cooks a divine tajine. The cooking class is worth every Dirham: you get to visit the local market and buy the ingredients, then eat what you've made on the riad's peaceful rooftop terrace. The staff (Ibrahim and Hassan are kindness personified) go out of their way to make your stay as memorable as possible. Words can't express how impressed we were by the whole riad experience.

We spent the last night of our week-long trip in Morocco at the Dar Attajmil, before flying back home. Although we enjoyed our other accommodations, we wish we could have spent more time exploring all this Riad had to offer. The common areas were very relaxing, and our room was clean and comfortable. We had some difficulty communicating with the staff upon our arrival, as the usual staff were unavailable at the time. Dust from renovations was a minor issue, and hopefully these have since been completed. Definitely worth a look if you plan on spending time in Marrakech!!

We travelled to Marrakech as two families with four children between 10 and 14. Dar Attajmil was perfectly situated in the medina to allow us to wander around the busy souk and famous square Jemaa El-Fnaa but still not be far from this lovely oasis when the kids had had enough. It felt like we were seeing the real Marrakech. The riad supplied plenty of information about places to shop and things to do, and every request we had of the lovely Ibrahim was met with "no problem". We ate in one night and had a beautiful meal. The two fathers and two daughters also did the cooking class with the beautiful chef at Dar Attajmil and made us a delicious lunch which we ate on the terrace. Having aperitifs, breakfast and lunch on the terrace is one of the highlights I will remember always from Marrakech. From this riad we were able to do all the things that we had read and talked about doing in Morocco from eating at the bbq stalls and seeing the snake charmers in the square to buying a tagine and getting well and truly lost in the souk. As well as learning how to cook a tagine and shop for the best spices.
The other bonus is that the property has its own Hammam - however I should have researched the process as the scrub was rough (as its meant to be)!

Dar Attajmil is situated in authentic settings of old Marrakech and is like an oasis in the middle of the buzzing souq. The staff speak both english and french and are sweet and helpful people. My friend and I shared a double room - beautiful interior and very clean. Great, tasty and variated breakfast. Marrakech is well-known for its many good restaurants - I've tried some but no one matches the delicious tagine of female chef at Dar Attajmil.

We were just about to change our flights back to Rome after being booked into a Riad that turned out to have moved to be located in the deep recesses of Marrakech Medina's north. From the clutches of dodgy staff and a low quality riad where truth was the first casualty of our stay. We escaped with our day packs to stumble across Riad Dar Attajmil the next day.

From there in the kindly hands of Ibrahim we restored our faith in Morrocan hospitality and spent the next three happy days there. With a lovely room, family service, and great breakfasts we whiled away the hours on a roof top deck watching the sun set as the call to prayer echoed from the many spires of Marrakech before heading down to ground level for markets and food.

Highly recommend it, a lovely riad.

This the second time we have stayed at this beautiful tranquil riad in the heart of the Medina although you can'ttell when you are sat on the roof terrace drinking a glass of wine. We were the only guests and felt totally spoilt, we cannot wait to come back for a third time. We brought our 12 year old son and the staff were really friendly and thoughtful. We stayed in one night and ate in the little dining room with the real fire on, the food was delicious. There is nothing that can be improved upon!
