Stayed here for two nights and felt very at home. Staff can not do enough for you. Would highly recommend. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is 10/10!! The area in which the Riad Jonan is ideally located. For real authenticity and as a first time visit to Marrakech! This is
ideal.

Just got back from a great 4 night stay at Riad Jonan, wow... wonderful place with excellent staff. On our arrival we had been upgraded to a superior room "Mekenes" which was a lovely surprise thank you,Hassan was extremely helpful in giving us advice and booking our trips (Quad safari,Ourika valley & Atlas Mountains amazing) The riad was fab authentic Moroccan with many endearing features a real little gem of peace & tranquility. Breakfast was good and plentiful, we ate there on our last night chilli was great. Roof terrace was wonderful a real sun trap.
A massive thank you to Hassan and all staff for making our stay for my husbands 50th birthday memorable.
Overall we had an amazing stay Riad Jonan & Marrakech was wonderful and would definately recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms look great but would recommend superior or delux :-)

I cannot write highly enough of the staff at Riad Jonan, they made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. The guesthouse is well placed to see the whole of the city and is within the Medina walls. Enjoyed the sun on the roof terrace and you can have alcohol here which is a bonus. Do take the organised taxi from the airport, so much easier. Overall we would go back tomorrow if we could!

The staff were exceptional, the location is fabulous, the food in the Riad and the service were excellent but I left Marrakech yesterday after a one week stay and what the whole place needs is a really good scrub. Tiled floors and bathrooms need more than a sweep with a broom, the bedside lights in my room (Safi) were full of dirt. I'm not that fussy, but I didn't want to walk on the floors without footwear. And this in the winter. If they sort out this issue, they could charge more for the rooms. Apart from that it was excellent.

Room Tip: I stayed in Single Safe room; one double bedroom quite small but didn't see any of the other ro...

We would like to thank you for praising the work of our staff who indeed always meet our guests’ expectations and requirements and make their stay the best as possible. The food we serve is excellent because it is cooked with fresh produce of the day by our chef who knows how to value the best traditional Moroccan recipes. Regarding the bad message sent about the household, we are sorry and apologize. We recognize that there should be no dust even inside the lamps as cleaness is one of our strongest concern at Riad jonan and this was stated by many of other reviewers before. Concerning the floors and walls, they are cleaned carefully every day, but if they look soiled it is because the tiles on the floor and walls are made of traditional materials (« baldi » in arabic) which may appear not tidy and clean even when you clean them but in fact are very clean. We made this choice to enhance the authenticity of this old house.
We hope to welcome you again during your next stay in Marrakech.

We stayed at the riad for 5 nights, on arrival we were made to feel very welcome. Riad Jonan has a perfect location in the Kasbah area, and makes it very easy to walk around to all the sites. We stayed in 2 of the larger rooms ( one had a problem with hot water, which was dealt with very quickly) and they were both very comfortable. The food provided by the Riad is of a very high quality and you can have wine or beer provided. However there are many restaurants around so do not be put off trying these as well. The roof terrace is an oasis to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the streets. We would highly recommend this riad.

Arriving at Riad Jonan is a bit daunting for a first time visitor to Marrakech, as it's situated up a narrow alleyway and the only thing that betrays it's presence is a small doorway with a plaque. Taking the hotel's transfer service from the airport is a good decision as the driver will guide you to the door. (the 15 euro fee covers the trip both from the airport and then back at the end of your stay). It's about 15/20 minutes from the airport.

Once inside, rather than standing at a reception desk, the weary traveller is seated and given mint tea and pastries, whilst the check in and luggage are taken care of, which is a lovely welcoming touch.

The building itself is two riads which have been linked together. Riads are a traditional family house with the rooms built around a central courtyard, so there are no outside views from the rooms as all the windows overlook the inner courtyard. It's worth being aware of this if you're expecting a view outside - the old houses in Marrakech were not built for outward views, it's all about being a haven from the bustle outside.

The two courtyards in riad Jonan are open air, but have retractable covers, and are used for breakfast and dinner as well as a space to relax in. There is a small ornamental plunge pool in one of the courtyards and a water feature in the other.

There is also an attractive roof terrace, which has sunloungers & parasols with towels and straw hats. It's a perfect sun trap and there is a pretty berber tent with cushions should you need some shade. The view in all directions looks out over a jumble of rooftops and minarets with the atlas mountains to the south.

The decoration throughout is tasteful, unique and there are many period features in wood, stucco plaster and mosaic - our room had a decorative wood stove. The overall effect is tranquility in what is an incredibly hectic city and you feel that you are in a traditional Moroccan home rather than a hotel.

This is a world apart from the formulaic chain hotel. Each room is unique, and ours, The Calif, was absolutely gorgeous with ornamental plaster, traditional furniture and decorative light fittings.
Facilities in the rooms are simple but perfectly adequate. Ours had a small clock radio with ipod dock & satellite TV (unwatched), a fridge with minibar, hairdryer, air conditioning and an electronic safe (free). Apart from the usual bathrobes, slippers and towels there were no toiletries or tea & coffee facilities, but the hotel staff will bring you coffee etc if you ask. There is a chargeable laundry service if required.

The hotel seemed very secure - there is a member of staff from the small team on duty at all times, and as you have to leave your key when you go out, and the front door is kept locked, they personally let you back in when you return, which is reassuring.

The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful and a great source of trustworthy local advice. The riad offers several excursions, with private and shared options. We went on two, to Essaouira on the coast and to the Atlas Mountains. Both were well worth doing, and were priced competitively.

The riad is well placed for easy walking access to the main square & souks, restaurants & various palaces and places of interest. I'd recommend visiting the artisanal department store early on in your visit. It is two minutes along the rue de la kasbah (it has two stone lions outside) and is one of the few shops in the old town with marked prices which gives you a good idea of the going rate for things, putting you in a much more informed position for the haggling you have to do everywhere else.

Staying here was a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: All rooms are different and unique but the hotel website photos show them all. Calif was spacious.
