This is a very well kept hotel that had once been the mansion to the King's translator; the grounds are spotless with many quiet places to hang out. The staff was discreet but welcoming. They do not cater to any one nation so be prepared for a lack of English reading material. Breakfast was elegant and simple but very well done. My wife and I were here as part of a side excursion from a cruise, so we had a guide, which was good because this place would have been hard to find on our own. Tip-- if you like taking pictures, wake up in the early morning and walk the alleyways, the light is wonderful. Our tour package was from Ya'lla Tours USA, I really recommend them, but make sure you establish in advance what you want tot do (scenery, museums, etc). Enjoy Marrakech, it's a gem; Casablanca is larger and noisy.

Amongst the frenetic pace of Marrakech's medina, you enter Riad Dar Karma and find tranquility. Its a small beautiful riad, with lots of quiet places to sit and read. The nice touches of roses petals on the floor, bed and bathroom, The service is great and out of sight. The family realy enjoyed our stay here and we will be back. Stephanie who runs the Riad, was very helpful in arranging and recomending places in the Medina. I would also not miss out on a trip upto the Atlas mountains.

When looking for a place to stay in Marrakech there is a huge amount of choice. There are so many riads and hotels in the area it took us a long time to finally decide to stay at the Riad Dar Karma. We wanted the authentic experience of saying in a traditional Riad, but at the same time we were attracted to the larger hotels for their larger swimming pools and outdoor areas.

We decided to stay at Riad Dar Karma as it offered a pool and looked stunning. When we were in Marrakech it was boiling and the pool was a real life saver. We spent our time out by the pool when the sun was at its warmest and went into the Medina when it had become a little cooler in the afternoon. Our friends were also staying in Marrakech at the same time as us but they were staying in a different riad without a pool, and wished because of this they had stayed somewhere like Dar Karma with a place to relax and cool down.

We were staying in the standard room. It was a nice room, but for the price we were a little disappointed as we had seen better rooms online for cheaper as ours was quite small. It was however very comfortable, with big beautiful windows which flooded the room with light. Our room was cleaned everyday and this wonderfully smelling shower gel and shampoo was replaced in the bathroom. Although our first impression of the room was a little disappointed by the end of the week we loved it and couldn't wait to get back to it after a long day walking around the medina!

The Riad itself was stunning. It was decorated beautifully and maintained wonderfully. The Pool and courtyard areas were beautiful and each night became magical with lanterns and lights. In the daytime the riad was incredibly peaceful and tranquil. The roof terrace was a wonderful place to sunbathe while listening to the birds. It was a wonderful haven from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech outside! Breakfast was served on the terrace every morning and was delicious. It became a favourite part of our day!

The people who worked at the hotel were always very friendly and kind. However, I did at times feel a little awkward when sunbathing by the pool as they were carrying out their everyday duties. This was by no fault of their own, but it did sometimes make us feel a little uncomfortable. This I guess would be one of the attractions of staying in a larger hotel. The Riad is also a 15-20 min walk away.

Nevertheless, the riad was a magical place to stay and we were very sad to leave. The staff were so kind and helpful and made us feel very looked after throughout our weeks stay. The riad was so beautiful, it was a stunning setting for relaxing and enjoying the moroccan sun. We would defiantly return to the riad and would recommend this riad to anyone who wants to enjoy the authentic moroccan experience with a few luxuries of a larger hotel. Thank you very much riad Dar Karma for a wonderful stay!

We loved our stay at Dar Karma. After a busy day of sight seeing we lounged on the roof top terrace with the best mint tea Morocco has to offer. And as there are several areas to rest and unwind at this charming riad we typically had the rooftop to ourselves (other people seemed to prefer being poolside or in the courtyard). The rooms are full of personality--we were in one of the bigger rooms, and our kids were in one of the smaller rooms. One evening we chose to dine in--I wish we had done that every night. The food was delicious and because they will serve your meal wherever you'd like you are dining privately. Our kids needed a change from Moroccan food so they made them spaghetti, which was delicious. The only potential downside I could imagine for guests is that this riad isn't right in the middle of the action. We were picked up by a guide each day so this didn't impact us, and our guide said our riad was in a family friendly part of the medina so was very safe (friends staying at a different riad in another area were threatened when walking around at night). I'd rather be further away from the action and consequently experience peace and quiet when we return "home", but being further away may not appeal to everyone. Highly recommend!

A beautiful Riad with first class service. We stayed during July when it was both very hot and during Ramadan,n consequently had the whole place to our selves. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and couldn't of made us feel any more welcome. On 2 days we were up early to go out on excursions and it was no problem for them to make and serve our breakfast early. The food was also very good and the location ideal-about 10 mins walk from the centre square.
