“Away from it all”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

We have just returned from 5 days at the Riad Dar Dailkoum. What a beautiful place. As soon as you entered through the big wooden door, everything was peaceful, so different from the business of Marrakech. The owners, Laurent and Muriel, couldn't have been more helpful, from the price to pay for taxis/caleches to how not to get lost - which of course we did ! Laurent organised our trip to the Atlas Mountains, which was a great success. The driver spoke excellent English and took us where WE wanted to go not to any carpet shops ! The Riad itself was great - from the rooms to the living areas. We even made use of the pool and sat on the roof terrace. Breakfast sustained us for the day and there was always tea/coffee/orange juice/water and fruit available. We can't praise the riad and staff enough - we shall certainly tell our friends. Thank you for making our visit so memorable. Jan and Brian Robertson.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent but the one near the breakfast area could be noisy first thing in the mornin...

Absolutely amazingly beautiful Riad. It was so nice and quiet to stay there you almost dint want to out. Muriel and Laurent were wonderful hosts and took excellent care of us, gave us loads of tips and made us feel like home. Rooms are big, spacious and beautiful. Highly recommend this Riad to everyone, super nice place :)

We have just come back from Marrakech, and our Riad was wonderful, a definite oasis from the hustle and bustle of the town. It's in a great location to get to everywhere and also very easy to locate (we saw lots of people lost in the streets unable to find their Riad).
Muriel & Laurent gave us great advice when we arrived about places to visit and what to expect from the locals.
If you want to stay in the town and have an authentic stay in a Riad, then this is the perfect way. The rooms, we stayed in Malika, is the perfect size with a little terrace. Very clean & comfortable. The free taxi to the Riad from the airport is also a bonus, makes the start of the holiday - I imagine we would be lost trying to find our way otherwise.

Room Tip: Malika - it's upstairs at the back & has a small terrace area outside

We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Dar Dialkoum, a quiet oasis in the middle of the bustling old city. What really made the stay special was the amount of effort to which Muriel and Laurent go to make their guests feel welcome and at home. They provided all the information we needed in order to enjoy this fascinating city. Nothing was too much trouble for the obliging staff, including bringing coffee to us at 5am before a hot air balloon flight. The Riad is beautiful with arrangements of roses and fresh fruit in abundance. We cannot recommend staying at this Riad highly enough.

My wife and I liked very much our 3 day stay in the riad. The riad is wonderful, tastefully restored and decorated - lots of cozy, cushioned seating areas, with bowls of fresh and dried fruits to refresh on everywhere. The owners - Laurent and Muriel were very accommodating and warm hosts and they created a really 'home' atmosphere in their riad. They are always happy to provide advice and to assist if required. We had dinner in the Riad on our second evening - the service was excellent, the tables beautifully decorated and there was a lovely ambience, the food was lovely too.

We highly recommend Riad dar Dialkoum for your stay in Marrakech.

I cannot speak highly enough of our time in this beautiful Riad which is spotlessly clean, welcoming, peaceful and excellent value. In the lead up to the holiday our flights were changed a number of times and each time we made contact with Laurent and Muriel we received prompt replies so we knew we had made the right decision to choose to stay here. On arrival which was late at night we were picked up and taken to the door by the friendly taxi driver, inside we had a gorgeous meal and met with petals on our bed and in the shower.

The following day (after a wonderful breakfast) Muriel took time to sit down with us and give us fantastic advice about where to go and what to do during our stay, ensuring that we felt like a local when we hit the streets outside. The Riad is a couple of minutes away from the real tourist spots which was perfect and gave us a chance to see the less traveled streets. Nothing was a problem and Muriel, Laurent and their staff could not have been nicer. It really did feel like our home when we were there and I cannot imagine any other Riad being this nice.

On returning home we were already looking to go back and we look forward to doing so some day very soon.

Our oldest niece met a delightful Moroccan man some years ago and they recently married, and we were invited to the Wedding Party in Mohammedia, just northeast of Cassablanca. Her family and friends stayed in a modern hotel southwest of Marrakech, but we wanted the more intimate experience of a Riad within the old city [Medina] itself, and one stood out beyond all others in online reviews, Dar Dialkoum. We were not disappointed! The welcome we received from Laurent and Muriel was truly exceptional.

Airport transfers had been organised for us - just as well as we would never have found our way through the narrow alleyways of northern Marrakech - and on arrival we were treated to a superb meal with a variety of traditional Moroccan delicacies. Our ground floor bedroom, opening into one of two courtyards, was beautifully prepared, with fresh flowers, fruit and bottled water, and rose petals strewn on the bed and in the shower! It was like being on honeymoon again!

The following day we received much helpful advice from Muriel, and chilled water in an insulated carrier for our first foray into the markets and souqs and gardens. We also took her advice about eating in the Place Djemaa el-Fna - Stand One - Chez Aicha, which totally redefined the concept of fast food, but it was excellent and inexpensive - we ate there three nights running, and it is highly recommended.

On our return from the Wedding Party on the Monday we were treated to another superb meal at the Riad, and were able to spend most of the next day relaxing in the sunshine [and shade!] of the main roof terrace, eating fresh and dried fruits, and sipping sweet mint tea. Before our departure we were able to spend time talking to Laurent about the excellent staff members he has engaged, and were particularly impressed by his caring ethos towards his employees, who all carried out their work with friendliness, cheerfulness and efficiency.

We simply cannot rate this Riad too highly and if you ever have cause to visit Marrakech, STAY HERE! There cannot be a better guest house anywhere. Its name apparently means "Our home for you", and that is exactly what it is. If we ever visit the city again, this will be where we stay.

Please note that the ratings below do not offer a precise category for our visit, so the 'fitness centre' and 'children's activities' are not applicable, and the location is in the poorer part of the city, but once through the front door, you are in a different world, and actually, the experience of real Marrakech is worth it!
