“Beautiful Party Mansion for heavy sleepers only and watch out for baksheesh extortion from an external contractor”
Reviewed November 1, 2011

This is a truly beautiful Riad. If you are on a budget, this may be a rare opportunity to romp in the sumptuously-decorated rooms of a riad.
Staff are generally helpful. This is a HOSTEL, so remember that service is DIY - if you want loo paper, you need to get it yourself from reception.
Great free wifi!

Caveats:
This place is PARTY CENTRAL with young backpackers drinking, smoking sheesha and partying in the aforre-mentioned common rooms all hours of the day and night. I slept very well as I was truly exhausted, but unless you are a heavy sleeper, you WILL have trouble with the noise.

Room for improvement:
- I stayed in a dorm with a window-less ensuite bathroom. It really needed a good clean more than once daily. I suggest that you request a bathroom with an window.
- staff REALLY need to walk people from the hostel to the main street at least the first time guests make their way out of the warren of the medina. I got lost multiple times in the maze before the hostel owner finally walked me out onto the street.
- If you're booking an airport pickup, you may be met at the square (after the taxi drops you off - taxis are not allowed after a certain point) by a man the hostel hires to walk travellers from the medina to the hostel door. He's tall and well-built with a missing front tooth or 2. If you ask him for any assistance (eg directions), beware as he will extort baksheesh from you with a threatening manner. He will not take small amounts and will aggressively push for a higher amount. He's not anyone who works directly at the hostel. I guess you could call him an 'external contractor'.

Its nice, it has a nice pool, clean rooms, fair breakfast (relative to relative to other hostels) its hard to find but thats just because its in Marrakech a city in which nothing is straight forward to find. The staff a informative, if a little blunt. The rooms are really nice and there is a real emphasis on cleaning.

The bad points: Its in Marrakech (if you visit Morocco and just visit Marrakech you are missing out on some great scenery etc.. Marrackech is essentially a dirty, tourist croweded flea market with a few palaces thrown in). There are guys on the entrance to the hostel trying to sell weed most nights although in Marrackech I imagine this is pretty standard.

The Wi-Fi didnt work when i was there.

HOWEVER, when you pass through the door this place is a welcome escape from Marrakech's questionable charms...

Pros: beautiful hostel, nice pool, awesome rooftop and delicious breakfast with freshly-squeezed orange juice. great location, instructions on how to find it are good. free internet. quiet. i met many nice people at the hostel.

Cons: like most hostels/hotels in Marrakech, it´s not that easy to find, despite the great location. there were no lockers in the room and we couldnt lock the room. my all-female dorm didnt come with an aircon. when we asked the reception for recommendations on where to eat. he only advised us to eat at the hostel restaurant! most of the reception staff were not very friendly. On the 2nd night, I found a man sleeping on the bed next to mine in an all-female dorm. I approached the front desk staff and he said he would go up and check. He returned and said the man is sleeping soundly and we shouldnt wake him up. I didnt mind another man in our dorm but I felt security has to be improved as they don´t even know who the man was and why he was in our all-female dorm.

Probably the best hostel i have ever stayed in! I visited with my boyfriend in August and we liked it so much we ended up staying again at the end of our trip around Morocco. Such a welcome break from the constant hassling in Marrakech, and the swimming pool is amazing in the heat.

The breakfast got a little repetitive as there is not much choice, but other than that would completely recommend.

Equity Point supplied us (a big group of 51 students and professors) with outstanding service and hospitality during a one week working stay in their beautiful Riad in Marrakech. We all enjoyed a safe stay with perfect facilities for both relaxing, working, eating, sleeping as well as a very central location for visiting Marrakech. We recommend anyone, regardless the purpose of the visit, to stay in an atmosphere of relaxed domestic bliss! We will surely be back for more :-)

We were five and bought the 6 bed dorm so we all stayed together and payed very little. It's a really nice riad, right in the middle of the narrow streets of the medina, with a great swimming pool and nice staff. Free wifi and lots of services.
