Friendly staff with food and drink on tap. Very relaxing holiday where you can join in the dancing or not :)

There's a club that goes on into the early hours on the roof of the bar.

We went in October so not sure how busy it would get in the high season.

This was my second time at a Club Med, and first time in Morocco. We chose Club Med as we wanted to relax while still get to do some activities, and see a bit of Marrakech. If you want to see the real Marrakech or Morocco, it would be best to stay elsewhere, but for certainty of service or food, CM is a sure bet. Our room was quite basic with Moroccan decor, but situated very close to the main dining area, and close to the kids' club - for our child it was convenient. As usual, every day has a different theme, including the food - lots of variety to choose from, and definitely there was local food. Plenty of activities - quite standard for CM, and also there is the spa, activities at the main bar, and the nightly entertainment at the theatre next the bar area. The Palmeraie operates a shuttle bus to the city center several times a day, and we could also use the facilities the other Club Med next to the city Medina, which was convenient for meals/drinks after exploring the souqs. Overall, the experience is as expected from any Club Med around the world, and we had quite a good time.

We had a really great holiday here.... nicely designed village, beautiful grounds, lovely pool area, rooms are fine if a little dated... an excellent team of GOs.. Our biggest thanks go to Jody on the bar, Hakim on archery, Victor on tennis and Julien who works in the admin office, all of these guys made sure we had an excellent stay and went out of their way to be accommodating and helpful. Also Nadia, the best 'chef de village' we’ve ever had at a CM resort. It's a very french club med (meaning there are lots of french guests) but we didn't see this as a real issue, English was widely spoken and the GOs/staff made every effort to speak in English with us when needed.

Only a few things prevented me awarding 'excellent'... at busy times the bar could be a little slow which was frustrating, the pre dinner snacks by the bar were poor in comparison to some other club meds.. equally the regular buffet was a bit of a letdown at times in comparison to Sinai Bay or Gregolimano for example. (but the late lunch and the speciality restaurants were both superb). The shuttle service in and out of the town centre could have run a little later too.

This issues aside though we really couldn’t recommend this CM enough, we thoroughly enjoyed it. THANKS NADIA AND TEAM!!

We have just returned from 2 weeks at Club Med La Palmeraie (2 adults and 3 kids – aged 11, 14 and 14).

This was our fifth Club Med holiday, so we knew what to expect and overall, we all had a brilliant time. It felt during our first week, the ‘most French’ of all our Club Med experiences as it seemed as if very little was being translated into English (however all the information on the notice boards is in English as well as French) but we managed with our limited vocabulary and asked Susie on reception to help us if we needed something more complicated sorted out for us.

The Chef de Village, Michele was Italian (limited English) and extremely visible, traveling around the resort on a mini scooter! Nadia took over during our second week (whilst Michele was on his holidays) and was equally as helpful and visible to the guests.

You really can do as much or as little as you like at Club Med. From my review you will see that we like the sporting activities but you can just chill out, read a book and pretty much eat and drink non-stop from dawn to dusk. However, in our opinion, it is the GO’s (the Club Med employees) that make or break a Club Med holiday. They all work extremely hard, (despite generally being very young) and were very friendly, full of energy and professional at La Palmeraie. I don’t normally name specific GO’s in my reviews as it seems unfair to single individuals out, but on this occasion, we’d like to thank Jodie (for being a fantastic, hard-working GO that always went the extra mile for us), Susie (for her friendly, patient professionalism), Mo Mo (Sam, Amy and Jemima genuinely miss you, your energy and your smile – they feel VERY strongly you should get your English speaking badge!), Simo (brilliant aqua-gym every day) and Juilianna (for ensuring I didn’t put on (too much) weight – your exercise classes were tough but lots of fun).

The food, as usual, was extremely good and the wine perfectly acceptable (without giving you a headache). The themed buffet changed on a daily basis and there was always plenty of choice. Every Wednesday, part of the golf course was transformed into the ‘Garden Party’, - a BBQ in place of the buffet. This was a white dress code night (Club Med have a totally voluntary dress code for each evening – sounds naff but actually it works really well) and with virtually every guest wearing white and the decorations, it all looked really beautiful. We ate at the speciality restaurant once, nice for a change, food pretty good (albeit no choice) but overall we preferred the choice at the buffet.

We had two interconnecting club rooms which were perfectly adequate for sleeping and showering, albeit quite dark but totally normal compared to all our other club room experiences. Pretty poor air conditioning but it was over 40 degrees every day – normal for the time of year. Importantly, it was cleaned well (in the morning) each day although occasionally replacement towels arrived mid-afternoon. We don't holiday at Club Med for the rooms.

The kids all went on the six day (2 hours a day) riding course which was extremely good value for money (pre-booked in the UK). Once we had extracted them from their beds for the 9am start, they all thoroughly enjoyed the training in the ring and ride afterwards. The Ranch was on site and the horses looked very well cared for. The instructor, despite speaking very little English, was professional, friendly and the children had progressed from walking to confidently cantering by the end of the course.

We always play tennis on a Club Med holiday. The courts at La Palmeraie were clay (not great condition, but perfectly adequate) with lessons starting at 10am for the advanced players. My husband, son and I all enjoyed our lessons and they played in a number of the daily tennis tournaments as well as organising lots of extra games with other English and French speaking guests during the course of the two weeks.

The 9 hole pitch and putt style golf course was beautifully maintained and Sam enjoyed a number of rounds. We decided to cancel our specialist golf courses on arrival as the instructors spoke relatively little English and we felt it was not worth paying for lessons in a technical sport if instruction in good English was going to be a problem.

We all had treatments at the Spa, very good but quite expensive.

One point to note is that the Club Med Medina is now closed to guests (its bar remains open during the day if you want to visit the Souks). We had not been made aware of this in advance of our stay but the impact for us was minor. Club Med continues to operate a bus service to the Souks around 6 or 7 times a day.

In conclusion, a great holiday, we all came home relaxed and happy and would certainly ‘Club Med’ again in the future.

Where to start?
The Room: We had interconnecting club rooms. The size and layout were ok. The mattresses and pillows are of a terrible quality and just one pillow per bed. There wasn't any mattress protectors so you can imagine the horror when you accidentally lift the sheets. The air conditioning doesn't work properly, during our stay the temperature raised to 45ºc so being on the room was sometimes a torture.
The bathrooms are the worst part: for the first two days we didn't have water on one of the showers, thank God we had two rooms! The first day they couldn't fix it because all the "technicians" were off because of the Ramadan, they fix it on the second day after more phone calls.
The frame of the window in the same bathroom was broken so, if you opened it, it would fall on your hands. The toilets are full of insects and everything is slowly breaking: the appliance on the wall for the toilette paper was falling, the toilet seat are not just broken but also very stained.
The Resort: It is a pretty typical Moroccan construction but sadly very badly maintained. All the water features that look very pretty in the pictures are actually very dirty, the one in the restaurant is full of bread pieces for the birds, absolutely disgusting! The layout is not very optimal, you have to walk a lot to go to the pool, to the bar, to the restaurant or to the mini club.
The restaurant: The food is ok the first day, but soon you discover that you are going to be eating the same dishes for the next 7 days! We made the mistake of trying sea food and were sick for 2 days. Birds are a real health hazard, you can often find dozens of birds on top of the bread and it doesn't seem to surprised any of the members of the staff and off course they don't do anything to solve the problem!! The drinks machines are full of bees and it's a real adventure to try and get something to drink without being sting. The snacks in the bar are of a very poor quality and there is no variety, here you are not fighting with the birds or bees but with the cats! Hygiene is a very big problem in the resort. On the positive side, during one evening they organize a garden party, the food is really nice and the way the transform part of the resort on a very big typical Moroccan garden party is fantastic.
The Pool: very clean, nice layout and surprisingly big enough for everyone, but There are not enough long chairs for everyone and they are all reserved by 8:30 am! People go very early in the morning with their towels to reserve the chairs even if they are not going to use them until the afternoon.
Mini Club: AMAZING, the girls and boys working here make the stay in this resort more or less worth it. The kids love their time in the mini club, the activities are different and interesting, only bad point the equipment and games in the rooms are very old and there is not a single game with all the pieces on. They have their own swimming pool. And is probably the only place in the resort where the air con works!
Golf academy: Good surprise, excellent teachers, nice pitch and put and practice and good organization to go to the different golf clubs in Marrakesh.
In conclusion, this is a very expensive resort for what is proposed. It has 4 tridents but it would hardly be a 3 star hotel.

This was our first stay with Club Med and we have had a very good experience at La Palmeraie.
We are from Paris with 2 young boys (2 and 3 years old) and the services offered by Club Med were very attractive.
The main positive point was the "petit club" which is truly fantastic thanks to Tanya, Emma and Cecile. The staff was very professional and always here to help.
Second positive point was the "mind", we were afraid to be into the movie "les bronzés" but this Club and I think all the Club Med are now like this : very polite and respectful staff, no intensive solicitation to be part of the activities.

To summarise.

Pro's:
- Petit club of course,
- wonderful resort, very calm and well decorated areas,
- friendly, reactive and professional staff,
- connecting rooms are convenient to use (we had 109 and 110) close to the lobby,
- nice dinners theme

Con's:
- Beds could be improved (very tough),
- No minibar or fridge in the rooms (not easy to store milk and fresh water for the kids...),
- Air Conditioning could be improved in the rooms,

Thanks again for the nice stay with you guys.

We have spent our summer family vacations in Marrakesh La Palmeraie this July. We made the decision to choose Club Med Marrakesh because we wanted to combine my & my husbands wish of sightseeing and the wish of our 12 years old boy of summer vacation with friends and fun avoiding sightseeing:)
It was my third experience with Club Med and all of the times we find what we expect choosing Club Med: good service, smooth worked out system, good food and looooooots of activities starting for the kids from young age, for transition age (11-13 years), teenagers. Of course the main language of the Clubs is French but English speakers would not be lost neither. For the kids of all the ages it's paradise: parents can start to miss their smalls as they have group activities, games, performances with the animators who really worth admiration for how they find contact with children. They have even lunches and dinners together which is nice for to make lots of friends and make children communicate especially when, like ours, there is one child in a family.
About the resort itself: It has very beautiful, well maintained garden- a real oasis in Marrakesh. The architecture goes well with local traditions and it is really very pleasant to stay in a resort even without going out. There are 2 pools: quite one (kids are not allowed there) and the main one quite big and spacious. The quite one we found a bit isolated but for those who want to be quite I guess it's good. The main pool is very pleasant with many vegetation around making quite some places with natural shadows. During our stay the hotel was something like 60% occupied but we always managed to find place at the pool even when we were coming from the city visit at noon.
Food like always (from our experience) at Club Med was really good. During our 9 days stay we had twice lobsters & oysters. Otherwise there were many local cuisine dishes, meets, fish and quite some choice for vegetarians or vegans also.
The common places and the rooms are really well cleaned.
There are really interesting activities: like golf lessons, tennis, some sport lessons (I liked Pilates), circus activities.
The shuttle to/from the city offered by the resort is very comfortable too!

On a down side I could mention: rooms equipment is quite basic and not the best quality, but general impression is really not bad, AC in the room, which was really necessary during our stay, was not really efficient, and as the temperature was reaching up to +48C we would have loved to have dinner in a closed restaurant with AC not in an open garden but the rooms which were sometimes opened for lunch were never open for the dinners.

Of course it's not a resort at the sea but we love the location (about 20min from the center by shuttle) and the green of the resort. We really enjoyed our stay. If I could advise one thing: be careful with the temperatures in Marrakesh during summer- I am a heat lover but the heat over there can be very tiring. Otherwise I would say full GO for the resort.
