“Incredible New Years stay in Marrakech”
Reviewed January 8, 2012

A group of us (8 business school classmates) had an AMAzing time with the Mezouar team for New Years 2012. Michel was incredibly helpful in preparing our trip, and his team in Marrakech couldn't have been more friendly, helpful, thoughtful and accommodating in making every day a dream, from the fresh OJ and perfectly round omelets each morning to dinner reservations and day trips at one gorgeous spot after another.

HIGHly recommend this property! We had more than 8 people, so Michel recommended www.dar-housnia.com/, where Yveline was also a total dream.

Room Tip: The Mezouar suite was magnificent and the largest that I saw, but they were all lovely!

Absolutely LOVED Riyad el Mezouar and would (and already have) recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Marrakech. It was so intimate, we were treated so well, and it was fantastic to come "home" to the peace and tranquility of our Riyad after long, bustling days in the souk! The decor is so well done - chic and understated. The food was fantastic beginning with breakfast served in the courtyard on silver trays - hot piping tea or coffee, breads with jams and honey, little bowls of the most deliciously ripe fruits...we also were treated to dinner one night which was one of our best meals! No attention to detail is overlooked. We can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Each is unique and has something special. I'd have been happy in any of them!

Entering this Riyad from the street you enter into paradise. It's small, quaint, warm and inviting. My spacious comfortable room had all the amenities needed for a good nights sleep as well as getting a fresh start for the souq's close by. Nadia and Michel are ever present and are kind and helpful in every way. I can't wait for my next visit!!

My wife and I, in the travel business (we own and run an eco lodge in Kenya) stayed at El Mezouar for a week in early November. We felt completely at home. Michel, the owner, created a beatiful and home style riad. Attention to details is infinite. The staff was dedicated and most helpful. We were assisted with all of our requests including a superb guide. Our times were out of ordinary as we had some business matters to deal with in Marrakech, and all the staff went out of their way to accommodate us.
Food was excellent.
Their website is accurate and our expectations were more than matched.
But the most pleasant feeling was that we were made to feel we were at home away from home.
There are many riads in Marrakech, El Mezouar is one not to be missed.

Room Tip: All rooms looked lovely, we enjoyed our Junior Suite and would recommend it

The moment that big beautiful door opens you step back into time and straight into the warm and nurturing embrace of this amazing building. Everywhere you look you find the great attention for detail of the owner Michel, everything is as it should be, where it should be.
We only spend two days at the riyad and really didn't want to leave any more. In this short time it had become our home, our oasis of tranquillity, the place you want to come home to after a day of Marrakesh madness.

Breakfast outside in one of the many little lounges is a true delight. We fell in love with the local fig-jam and we asked Nadia (more about her later on......) if she could get us some to take home, by the end of the day there where two jars waiting for us.

We had diner once, lamb and pear tajine. This sweet and savoury combination made our taste buds sing. Michel, who was our host, is a delight, interesting, funny, entertaining and a warm soul.

Nadia, the house manager, is a rare and precious jewel when it comes to taking care of her guests. she took care of us A to Z and gave us great tips, made an amazing diner reservation and made every minute of our stay unforgettable.

Riyad El Mezouar, stay exactly as you are, you stole our heart and we hope to come back again soon

The Riad is wonderfully located.
The staff out of this world.

The food served for breakfast and dinner -- simply out of this world.
Not to mention the cooking lesson I signed up for through the Riad.

Anything you may think of the staff will reach out and find the right person to accompany you and makes the time to ensure your vacation is a great vacation.

Room Tip: I loved my room which was located upstairs

It was a peaceful oasis off the chaos of the streets. Difficult to find without a guide the first time then we got the hang of it. The hotel was charmingly done and so very quiet. We were the only guests at this time of year however so I'm not sure how private it would be if all the rooms were full. Nadia looked after us so so well and the breakfast each morning was a joy looking over the emerald green pool in the courtyard. She was also a great source of restaurante recommendations and bookings for us.
It is a little way from the Medina but part of the fun is finding your way through the alleys and souks to the main medina and back again.

Room Tip: Ensure there is a fan in the room. This was sufficient for our stay (late Sept) however I would imag...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Located in the medina of Marrakech close to the soukhs and bustling Jemaa-el-Fna square, Riyad el Mezouar is a tranquil and unexpected hideaway. The villa was constructed in the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries by the royal household for one of their important members of staff who was called the Mezouar, or head of royal protocol at that time, which explains its graceful and subtly grand architecture. Now a Maison d'Hotes, the riad offers 5 spacious en-suite rooms situated around the courtyard pool or on the first floor gallery level. Depending on the season, breakfast is served on the roof terrace, around the pool in the shady courtyard, the fireside winter salon or in the guest rooms. Dinner is available on request, prepared by a Moroccan cook. The aquamarine pool and rose fountain surrounded by flowers and mature trees provide a sanctuary for birds and offer shade during the heat of the day. From the roof terrace there are splendid views of the snow-covered Atlas mountains and the famous Koutoubia mosque. This is a quiet space in which to enjoy both the sun and stars where refreshments are served from the terrace kitchen throughout the day and evening. ... more   less
