We had such a wonderful time. This Riad is gorgeous and the food is phenomenal! Chef Fatuma is perfect. You really should stay here and have the chicken lemon tagine and couscous. The breakfast is wonderful. Do not miss this gem!

Riad 72 collects you from the airport so taxi negotiations can be avoided for the very short ride to the Medina. As a first timer to Marrakech I wasn't sure exactly what was happening when your minibus pulls over and your bags are loaded into what appeared to be a customised wheelbarrow. But it's Morocco, it's 30C in April and you just go with the flow. The very pleasant bell 'boy' accompanies you to 72 which is about 100m away down a couple of winding streets. Inside it's like stepping into another world; polished concrete, smouldering incense, swaying palms and a gurgling water feature. We were met by the enthusiastic and chatty Alexandra who sat down and explained everything that we wanted to know over a cup of mint tea. The room was the one that I've seen mentioned on this site before with the steep steps leading up to the bedroom and bathroom. It does take a bit of care but once you're up there it's all quite comfortable. With only four rooms it's deadly quiet and you can normally have the roof terrace all to yourself - perfect for a quick bottle of wine before heading out. The staff were always terribly obliging and any requests were fulfilled efficiently. If you can, do try and have dinner there with the amazing cooking by Fatouma. I had a group of friends over for dinner on the terrace, (including some French who live in Marrakech) and everyone conceded that it was the best meal that we'd all had in the four day stay - even the expats admitted that it was very good (they were no doubt miffed we had found it first!).

Room Tip: Ask for one that doesn't have the steep steps.

We are a retired American couple who travel extensively. This is our first time in Morocco. We were met at the airport by Mohammed who took us as near the Riad as possible, to the Dar el Bacha. We were met there by q man with a hand cart who took our luggage and walked us to the Riad, about 200 meters. Once inside we were welcomed with mint tea and an explanation of Marrakesh, and what we could expect. We were questioned about what we wanted to do, and arrangements were made immediately to book dinner reservations, to reserve the hammam and massage, and to tour the souk and historic sites. Every wish was made real.

The service was impeccable. There are only rooms so one does pretty much what one wants when one wants. The guest makes the rules. The rooms are well decorated, clean and comfortable. I can't think of a thing I would change. We were in Morocco in August and it was quite hot outside. The air conditioning was up to the task, and we returned to the Riad midday to cool off and have a nap. This was the perfect stay.

Riad 72 lived up to all my expectations. It combined traditional Morrocan style with a modern twist and attention to detail. We stayed in the suite which was well worth the additional cost as the room was cavenous and comfortable. Staff were friendly, discreet and helpful, the general atmosphere was quiet, relaxing and very much a home from home as you had your front door key. We look forward to returning some day soon!

Room Tip: book the suite - it is well worth it

This is my first review ever and I am so glad to finally sign up to post it just for this hotel. The staff is by far better than anything you would even find at a four seasons, the dinner we had by the chef (whom picked up the fresh produce that day) on the rooftop watching the sunset was one of the most magical experiences Alina and I have ever had. Had a great massage in the suite. The hotel is hidden away from all of the intensity of the souks. Alex thanks for everything. Marrakech we will see you again very soon.

Knowledgeable people say that in Morocco there are two worlds. The street is for men and business and the home is for family. The aggression of the street in Marrakesh can be intimidating at times, but enthralling nevertheless. When you visit, you need somewhere that is “family” to return to and Riad 72 fits that bill. From the moment we walked in, there was a friendliness and calm that allowed us to reenergize to explore the medina, the gardens and the Atlas Mountains. The building is beautiful and the cooking is delightful, but most of all, the staff is wonderful.

My mother and i stayed at Riad 72 at the end of March after trawling trip advisor for a Riad. We had high expectations after reading all of the great reviews but the Riad exceeded them all - if you can stay here do it!
We were picked up from the airport and then met at the other end and led to the Riad. Once inside, we were welcomed by Rachid (who was the perfect host all week!) with mint tea and biscuits and then shown our room. The interior is amazing, beautiful banana trees, relaxing music and beautiful decor. Our room was perfect with a huge bath and beautiful Morrocan doors and the view from the roof terrace is amazing. On clear days we could see the snow on the atlas mountains and being one of the highest terraces in the area meant you were never overlooked and could relax/sunbathe.
The food was fantastic - fatuma's food really is as good as the reviews make out
i want to go back! Neither of us could fault it!!
Thanks to everyone at riad 72 for an amazing stay!
