a true replica of the Alhambra palace in Granada, spain, but located in the heart of the Marrakech palmeraie. Beautiful huge rooms, with one pieze stone baths, great gardens, Alhambra like fountains, patios, flowers. Carved wooden doors. Great spa and pool. Suites have sometimes 3 floors and terrace included. wonderful

My friend and I visited this hotel just to receive a hammam treatment as the spa was mentioned in Lonely Planet. It turned out that the place was closed to guests as it was undergoing refurbishment. This made it an even more magical experience for us! It was like having our own exclusive palace for the day! (The owner and his family were the only other people there!)
We had booked from our Riad in the medina and when we turned up we were met at the door and given a tour of the hotel, including the suites and gardens before going down to get our treatments. It was idyllic!!
The spa was AMAZING!!! You seem to go down into the depths of the hotel on a spiral stone staircase into a room draped in deep burgandy cloth from the ceiling and down the wall and muted light reflecting from a chandalier in the middle of the room. We got changed into our robes and were led into the hammam, a huge dark marble walled room with a domed ceiling and boiling water bubbling behind the walls pumping steam out into the room. We then were rubbed in our green soapy exfoliating scrub and left to relax and bake for about 15 minutes before being buffed and scrubbed. We then were led to our separate rooms with different therapists and got the most relaxing massage with a perfect amount of pressure! Afterwards we were far too relaxed to head back to the medina...so we had lunch out in the garden under a shady awning. As there were no guests, the hotel didn't have what was on the menu, but they made us up the most amzazing vegetable salad with fresh veggies from the garden. After tea, some juice and lots of chat we eventually decided we had to go back. The hotel called our taxi and we returned to the hectic chaos of the medina.
Absolute bliss! I would love to return to this hotel to stay and would highly recommend it to anyone, the rooms looked palatial and the service was out of this world.

Not sure what to make of this hotel. Some things are exceptional, others ordinary. On the whole is is unusual and special enough to make it a rewarding experience.

Architecturally, it is stunning. It is built like a Moroccan castle on the outside, a palace inside. The internal court with its long pool, pillars and carving, is reminiscent of the beauty of the Alhambra, which is also recalled in the bannisters of running water. Each time I took the beautiful staircase and wound my way back to our room, through the scented corridors and halls, I was struck by the superb and atmospheric blend of minimalist modern and traditional Maghribi design.

As some reviews have said, the lighting is a bit low sometimes, though this adds to the charm in some public spaces and creates some dramatic effects. The lighting in our bathroom was remarkably dim however. The electricity in the room did give out altogether on one occasion.

We were two adults and two kids (4 and 7) in a very spacious suite with its own roof terrace - terrific, with pillows and a tent overlooking the palmeraie. This is actually much scrappier than it sounds, but at sunset, or at night with the stars overhead and the Atlas looming in the distance, it's pretty spectacular. We camped out there with our boys on two nights of our stay. Or rather we went to sleep there under duvets and then decamped downstairs. At New Year it is very cold at night in Marrakech.

Some of the suites have their own pools. The one next door to us had their pool on the roof - fun. The main pool is large and flanked by palm trees. It was not heated enough to swim, though the staff continually assured us that it was going to be hot enough tomorrow...

The spa is underneath the hotel, with good massage and a great hammam, though they can be a bit disorganised. There is a unique outdoor spa in a ruined building which would be amazing in the summer.

Service is uneven and not in the same league as the really top Marrakesh hotels like the Mamounia or Royal Mansour, for instance. But the staff is friendly and eager to help.

Make sure you order your breakfast as early as possible, especially the Moroccan breakfast, which takes a long time to make but is delicious when it arrives. Apart from some decent room service, we ate out for all other meals so can't comment further on the food.

This hotel is isolated and really is a long way from the action of the old city. You have to take a cab into town to do anything. Still our kids weren't bored. We spent a lot of time in the old town and on excursions, but in the hotel they enjoyed the hammam, exploring the grounds, the rose walk and the herb garden, chatting to the resident hawk and taking a camel ride through the building site of the palmeraie.

I liked the Ksar Char Bagh and would recommend a short stay, especially for romantics.

We loved the simple, modern architecture and styling of KCB (some reviews say souless and bare, we thought minimalist and clean). Particular highlights were our private roof terrace to look over the desert region for sunset and sunrise, our bathroom with deep sunken marble bath, double sinks.... sigh! The pool is every bit as stunning as the photographs show and the hammam is an enormous underground dark red marble cavern.

We found the service attentive and discreet. It is not a "click your fingers" type place because, frankly, it is large and the staff don't hover in view the whole time which, for me, I like. I wanted to feel like I was there on my own in a private palace! Having said that, whenever I did try to lift a finger (moving my sunlounger into the sun) staff came running from, apparently, nowhere.

This was our first two nights in Morocco before heading to a riad in the medina for two nights then three nights on the coast. We wouldn't recommend staying there if you want to "do" the Medina - as other reviewers have said, better to go and stay in a Riad for that, but it does offer the space that you cannot find in even the most ritzy and boutique riad in the Medina.

The food was very good but the menu stayed the same for both nights we were there - if we had stayed for another night we would have ventured into the city for some variety - for that reason, two nights was enough. The breakfasts and lunch were varied and fresh/exciting.

Finally, it is expensive but for such a stunning building you can see why. Note of caution, extras mount up VERY quickly with eating lunch dinner and any treats in the spa....

We spent just one night at the Ksar Char-Bagh but we can say that it is undoubtedly one of the best we experienced ever!

As soon as we entered the gate, we experienced such a level of exclusivity, attention and care for details that, despite our high expectations, we remained definetely astonished and fascinated of everything: from outside the gate, you cannot imagine such a paradise. The internal patio, the whole building and the calm you can experience are fantastic, terrific.

The room was really spacious with a fantastic private garden under the palms with an incredible view on the sunset over the Palmeraia. The bathroom is so big and full of details that forces you to indulge in a fantastic bath and to relax afterwards in front of the fireplace.

The level of service was obsolutely at the level we expected.

We experienced the restaurant (the food is good but probably could be improved a bit, flavours are a bit too mixed and overcomplicated) all by ourselves, nobody around, with great care for us by the staff.

A fantastic hotel, the place to be even if you don't need to move into Marrakech itself. An experience to remember!

the ksar char bagh is an amazing place: from the beautiful bedroom to the relaxant spa, everything was done to highlight our stay over there. The peace surrounding the place was delightful for us and at only four hours from London!! Will come back some day for sure.
