“Great value, clean room - just avoid the pizza restaurant”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

We spent a 4day weekend in March and were blessed with beautiful sunshine - and the hotel has a lovely outdoor area with pool and a good number of pool loungers with towels provided which we enjoyed. The room was clean and had a nice sunny balcony and nice fresh linen and bonus was a little bar fridge (needed for water in the heat:). The main restaurant served excellent lunches each day with a wide variety of food options - breakfast was a little sparse. Only warning would be to avoid the 2nd restaurant (italian a la carte close to the pool). We had a meal there which was soup (straight off the buffet and no flavour at all) followed by Pizza (tated of nothing at all seriously) and then to finish my fiance ordered a fruit salad and was presented with an apple, banana, whole orange and a strawberry - and a butter knife to dig her way through. Expensive for what is was and arguably th worst meal out in a long long time. The hotel otherwise was lovely (about a 20minute walk to the market so get a taxi if its hot) and staff were pleasant. We did however have someone entering our room in the afternoon while we were asleep (twice) and someone opened the door in the morning and left it ajar -- so we promptly paid for a lockup safe (20 Dirhums per day) as there was no reason for someone to be coming in when we had the "do not disturb" sign up. The hotel has a bureau de change which is convenient. Id definitely recommend and AMAZING restaurant we found down the same road (8min walk) called Rotisserie de le Paix (68 yougoslavia road) great outdoor garden with palms and fountains and brilliant fresh salads and grilled meats at reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Ask for 1st or 2nd floor pool facing as the higher the noisier

We went there for a groupon promotion, so we were a little concern about what we could find. The Hotel is very well located, just 20 minutes walking from La Medina.
The staff in the hotel are friendly, really helpful, and worried to give good recommendations. Especially Mouna and Aissam.
The room had a very nice view, very clean, in general the bedroom was very comfortable.
Breakfast was nice, different sweets, cakes. Nice omelets every day.
If it is possible try the Mint tea and the spa.
For the value this is an excellent hotel, we don´t hesitate to recommend it.

Room Tip: Wi fi is not available in rooms, but there is in the reception area.

For the money, this hotel is great. It is incredibly clean and very comfortable. The staff could not have been more helpful. The reception staff recommended a lovely restaurant nearby where locals eat, which was so cheap and delicious. The porter even took us there so we didn't get lost. We were also recommended a spa - Le Bain Blue - which was to die for.
We only ate breakfast at the hotel, but it was more than adequate. It is a self-service buffet with pastries galore. Hot food was primarily toast, pancakes or omlettes, but really that was fine. Coffee and juice was plentiful too.
The room was not large but more than enough space for 2 adults, with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool over to the Atlas Mountains.
The hotel is a good 25 minutes walk from the main city centre but to be honest the square and the souks are so manic that it was nice to walk back or jump in a taxi to regain a little calm. There are several bars & restaurants nearby too.
Wifi is freely available in reception, which is full of comfy sofas. So anyone moaning about not being able to get wi-fi in their room is being a bit picky given that this is Marrakech.
My only complaint would be the spa. This shouldn't be deemed a spa hotel. My partner & I booked massages for our last afternoon at 4pm - before we had to leave for the airport. At 4pm my partner was called in for his, then I waited until 4.30 to be called for mine. Thankfully we had enough time in hand, but we had booked for them both to be done together. Whilst I was waiting the staff were having an almighty row and the therapist who massaged me was little more than perfunctory. The massage was perfectly nice, but there are far nicer spas in the city.

Room Tip: The higher the room, the better the view.

We spent a week in this hotel in January this year. We booked it because of positive reviews in tripadvisor. We were rather disappointed about the reviews we put our trust in. The hotel was not what we expected. We immediately got ourselves upgraded, paying additional money, into a junior suite. The room was large and we appreciated very much the trouble the room maid took in decorating our bed every evening in a different way. Bathroom area needs urgent maintenance. The minibar was empty with only a build-up of ice.

On the more positive side:you can stroll into Medina, rather a long but interesting walk along the main road. The tourist bus stops right in front of the hotel. As it offers two routes, it is advisable to buy a ticket for two days.

Room Tip: We looked at a few room and they all look the same. A Junior Suite is the best one could have.

We spent 4 great days in the Diwane, great staff, good food. Rooms very clean, crisp sheets and virtually brand new towels. Hotel n good position open top bus tour leaves from just outside. Parts of hotel a bit tired but does not detract from the benefits of your stay. Spa & pool very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask for pool side

All in all a pretty good hotel for the money we paid, it was in a central place in the new town of Gueliz and the tourist bus stop was right outside. We had a room on the first floor and after 2 days we asked to be moved higher up as it was pretty noisy being directly above reception and the restaurant. As soon as we moved to the 3rd floor its was loads better and the room was nicer. Breakfast was by far the best meal of the day, freshly made pancakes and omelettes were what I had. Lovely squeezed orange juice and loads of other continental style eats if you wanted them. you had a choice of evening meal or lunch, opt for lunch its a fixed 3 course meal but loads better than evening meal. The evening meal was ok but too be honest not up to much, and was repetitive. The soup was nice and after a couple of nights we got the chef to cook pasta which was ok.
The younger girl on reception in the mornings is very helpful and will point you in the right direction, and the staff in the main were friendly.
It's a 20 min walk from the hotel to jemma el fina square, you can find this easily once you've got your bearings. we did this by getting on the tourist bus which you buy a ticket for 145 dirhams for 24 hrs, and you can get on and off as many times as you like. spend the extra and get the 48hrs one we didn't and regretted it, as then had to walk to the square the following day, you can taxi's or horse and carriage but didn't bother. we saw the square from the open top bus first on the sat morning and then again later that day and it was so packed we decided not to visit at that time. To say it is full on is an understatement. We went back on the sunday having walked there and not really got hassled just a couple of beggars in the street, and the square was alot quieter and the souks too, wasn't half as scary as thought it was! Its a real experience and i thought getting lost in the souks would worry me but we somehow wandered through and did a complete circuit without realising and found our way around easily. Yes there are snake charmers in the main square as you enter and this is a little hairy especially if you hate them... We sat in cafe france on an upper terrace and watched from above and had a really nice pizza for a while the square constantly changed with different marketeers selling their wares and acrobats all sorts going on.
Be careful on the roads they are probably one of the most scariest things, all traffic is completely mad, horses and carts and skaters are also mixed in with the cars, buses and lorries and crossing the road is fun to say the least, you end up in the middle thinking oh my god how do I cross!!
Also went to Yves St Laurant garden which was beautiful again you can walk here in 20 mins, just turn left out the hotel and left again and keep walking, the supermarket acima is also down here but don't bring loads of water back as hotel won't let you bring food in!
Finally we went on Ourika valley trip booked via the hotel which was a whole day and thoroughly enjoyed this, the hike to the waterfall really is a hike and we went on a day after rain and it was hard going at times being hauled up the ravine but well worth it.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Room Tip: ask for one on the higher floors its very noisy if you get the first floor, we asked to be moved aft...

We booked this hotel for four days and found it a really pleasant base outside the noise and bustle of the Medina. The staff are friendly and attentive. The receptionists are very helpful and will recommend places that they use as well as the usual attractions. The rooms are very clean and well presented and breakfast is very good. There is free wifi in common areas and the staff will happily organise taxis and haggle prices for you. Over the intersection is a brasserie which does good beer (Marrekech is relatively dry) and you are otherwise well placed for a 7 minute cab ride to the Medina or 30 minutes on foot. I would definitely come back to this hotel and imagine it would suit single travellers as well as couples on a romantic break.
