“Lovely Staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

Recently returned from a four night stay at Diwane Hotel. The staff were lovely and all really friendly and ready to help. In particular Muneya who was at reception was a wealth of information in terms of where to go and what times to avoid. And she was lovely to talk to. The cleaning service is excellent! And on the last two nights we were given a special suprise which was very sweet. The breakfast was really nice too.

We booked two excurisons through the hotel, camel riding and quad biking both excellent; the company the hotel use is professional and well oragnised. You get picked up and dropped off at the hotel, so would definatley recommend. Addtionally, would also suggest if you exchange money to do so from the hotel the rate is same as aiport and safe. Just make sure you get a reciept as when you want to exchange back to your orginal currency you need to show receipts. Also be sure to exchange all your dirhams before you return at the airport as you wont be able to back in UK.

The touristique bus stops literally outside the hotel and the bus tour starts from outside the hotel. I would recommend touristique bus as you can get the 48 hour ticket. And it goes to all the sites including jem el fenna and koutiba mosque and you can hop on and off the bus as many times as you like. Its safe and hassle free and you can peacefully enjoy the ride without the hassle of beggars, people, shopkeepers or taxi drivers unlike when your walking around!
The Hotel can also organise a taxi to the airport which was alot cheaper than what we paid getting to the hotel (200 dirhams!) through the hotel it was 100 dirhams.

Overall really good hotel, nice retreat from the frenzy outside. Its a nice city to visit but be prepared for the hassle outside the hotel from everyone! Would definatley recommend the hotel.

I just came back from Marrakech after spending a week in Diwane Hotel . The hotel is a good value for the money and close to transportation .

Room: I have to agree with most reviewers about the hard mattress . However the room is large and the bathroom is well equipped and towels are daily changed regardless if they were used or not . The cleaning service is excellent . Please reward the cleaning ladies from time to time . They deserve it .

Restaurant: good variety in breakfast . I highly recommend the crepes and pancakes. Stay away from the greasy omelets. Waiters seem to mind their own business .They rarely greet customers or tend top tables in breakfast . I tried the dinner buffet once. Quantity over quality . Definitely NOT worth the 200 dirhams .

Reception; friendly and helpful personnel .

Buses 1&16 to Jmaa Fnaa;stop by paper stand . The rate is 4 dirhams instead of 3.

Airport bus 19; stops by the cinema.Cross the street directly from hotel and walk a few meters and wait .Waive for the bus to stop . 30 dirhams .
Bus 19 from the airport; go out the exit then turn left . Ignore bus drivers on your way .

This is my second visit to Marrakech and will probably be my last . I would rather enjoy a peaceful vacation than worry about hustlers, beggars and shop owners who intend to rip you off .

Hotel vs Riad: last year I stayed in a riad near the main square . Hard to find and besides you have to fight kamikaze motor riders and mule driven carts . Confusing and dirty alley ways . I would rather stay in a decent hotel any day .

Room Tip: Ask for room with balcony facing the pool.

Stayed here for 4 nights in february, and have to say i would definitely return.
The best feature is the location walking distance 10 mins to the new town, 25 mins to Djema el Fnaa,10 mins to Jardin Majorelle it has some of the best moroccan restaurants on it's doorstep, in Al Fassia & Libzar. What more can you really want from Location.
we were offered mint tea upon check in which was nice touch.
also the pool area was like a mini oasis away from the hustle and bustle immediately outside, you could easily chill and read a book taking in the sun. they only negative thing i would say is possibly the pool area could be a bit bigger.
the rooms were clean and comfortable and staff were polite.
food at the on site restaurant is ok, but there are so many places nearby to eat just go out.
Don't get me wrong the place isn't 5 star but, the idea place to explore from, but also nice to chill out by the pool. for the price you pay i think this is a bargain.
I would return here

Most things good/bad already written on here about this place if you care to read other's reviews. Thing's i would like to add, though trivial, include; try to bring a plug adaptor that is not like the usual (squareish boxed) shaped one's with two pins, but more of an adaptor that is of an electric razor design (flat with two pins). Had real problems using a squareish shaped one with the hotels sockets! Managed to get the later design from a nice member of staff to charge me phone. Lunch, we thought, was much nicer than dinner. We ate dinner on the second night in a lovely restaurant in the Jemma El Fna square for next to nothing (£10 inc drinks). Generally, things are cheap in Marrakech inc taxi's. We made a mistake by paying 50dirhams to get into town when probably 20-30dirhams would have been more than enough with haggling. DON'T get on the tourist bus! Its about £7.50. The local buses cost pence and are not generally overdrowded. They are clean and a hassle free means of tranport, and get you to all the places of interest anyway (generally around the Jemma El Fna area). Be adventurous and walk outside and around of the tourist areas. Me and other half were hassled little and felt very safe. The main thing we found was that in a 'haggle' culture, dont be pressured into overpaying for your souvenirs. Things cost little to make and theres thousands of the same things to buy in the souks. Shopkeepers are desperate for your custom. A MUST is to visit the spice market, the smells and sights are awesome. Overall, i would definately recommend this hotel to friend's/family.

Room Tip: You can just receive WIFI reception in room 106 (directly above reception) on the first floor.

Had 4 nights at Diwane all in all a very pleasant place to stay room was quite large and very clean with lovely crisp white sheets, the buffet breakfast was more than a adequate. a tip when leaving the airport by taxi, there were 4 of us so we required a large taxi we asked the price and were told 100 dirams after about a mile he then announced that that was per person and threatened to take us back if we would not agree, on leaving the hotel booked us a minibus for 200 dh that sould be the most you sould pay

Just arrived back from 3 nights at diwane.i agree with most reviews already posted.the bathroom could do with a bit of a refurb.the so called mini bar was just a worktop fridge on the floor with nothing in it.there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which i just presumed there would be.amazing how views on the food differ.we just had breakfast and the freshly cooked stuff was ok but the pastries and cake a bit bland, the cheese and so called ham was probably of the tinned processed variety.
But for the price it was ok and there was lots of it.
the pool area is a lovely haven in the madness of the city when its warm enough to sit out.the staff are all friendly and helpful.even the two handymen who had to break the lock off our door half an hour before we were due to leave for the airport.it all adds to the experience i suppose.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms overlooking pool are good but also overlook some local building work and a busy road...

Good location, very clean, helpfull staff, nice pool area, clean rooms and good food. I would definately recomend this hotel. The only bad thing i have to say is the pool attendant tried to rip us off, we asked wear we could get some sun cream and 5 mins later he came back with some that we didnt choose ourselves and demanded 120 dirhams. All in all a very good hotel for the money. Would defo use this hotel again.
