“Perfect Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2011

I found this Riad on this website and it was absolutely lovely, i love what they've done with the decoration, it feels very homely and was comfortable. The staff are really friendly and its in a really good location. Stayed for 2 nights before heading to Mirleft and then on the last night we had planned to stay here but they didnt have room for us so we stayed in one of their other Riads which had a small swimming pool inside which was lovely. They also offered us a hammam which was very enjoyable. Thank you so much for making our stay in Marrakech so enjoyable.

The house architecture is really interesting and very comfortable. The perfect relaxation time needed if you visit Marrakech. The location is good, just 5 minutes walking (really 5 minutes or less) from Jemaa El Fna. There is a terrase in the roof where you can lay down and see the stars. We stayed in 2 rooms and both were really good, super clean, sort of romantic and perfect to have a great rest without any anoying sound. The hostess were really nice, they speak english, french, spanish and some other.

The Bamileke Riad is located along a side street three minutes walking from Jemaa El Fna, in the heart of the souq. The former home delight the senses for the quaint patio shaded by a banana tree placed by Italian owners, restored to perfection keeps zellij wherever the pavement and the typical mud brick walls that offer fresh and isolation from the nightlife torbolente of the medina. The terrace with pink bougainvillea and large sofa gives guests a total relaxation after a day of explorations. Where once there were bhours, lounges on the open central courtyard, now there are rooms with intriguing light taste African furniture and sculptures. The rooms, toilets like the rest of the structure are impeccably clean. The food cooked by a Moroccan woman offers typical local dishes, from couscous to tagine, to hearty sandwiches, the portions are generous! The staff is helpful, polite and ready to meet all of your curiosity about the Moroccan tradition. Do not waste your time reading the lonely planet, the owner Elisa, will advise and show you everything you need! As soon as my partner and I will return to Marrakech, we would have no doubts about where to stay. Highlights of the Riad Bamileke are the hospitality, confidentiality to you and the exotic atmosphere in which it is immersed.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay here and after reading the reviews my expectations were way too high. It is nice but I am sure there are much nicer ones (next door even) It was very plain, plastered walls and not much colour. The terrace is nice although the plants are a bit in need of care and it could be so much nicer with a bit of colour. Ridwane is really really nice and very helpful, the noise from the street at night was really noisy and he managed to get earplugs for me after I tried all day and couldn't face another sleepless night :( Our breakfast was okay, bread, cheese triangles, a pancake, butter, jam, yoghurt and coffee. But on the last day Ridwane appeared with an omelette for my partner as he had asked for eggs, it was really nice. The only view from the roof terrace is of more roofs. It is a very close to the square, 5 minute walk at most., not sure if I would go back, if it wasn't for Ridwane I wouldn't even think about it. We didn't pay that much for our stay (105 euros plus 12 euros tax- nobody mentioned that) but that was supposed to be after an discount as it is supposed to be at least double that if not more, but what we paid was probably accurate. We had the place to ourselves which was great, but jury is still out on our stay :)

Room Tip: Take the brilliant reviews you see with a pinch of salt and make up your own mind.

Can't fault this Riad, helpful staff, cleaned thourghly daily, calm & relaxing. Slightly away from the hussle & bussle of the main square but still within easy reach.
Homely feel, quiet & relaxing with loads of nice pieces of art and maintained terrace.
Would recommend this riad to anyone. Suprised it wasn't priced higher.

This place is a hidden gem. There's beautiful rooftop terrace with lovely seating up there. Theres also a quaint courtyard where you can have tea and watch the turtles on the island of palms that shades the courtyard. The rooms are an amazing value.

Room Tip: ask for the haunted room

I came across this Riad from the easyJet site while looking for accommodation as i booked a flight. I wanted to stay in the Medina.
this Riad is very close to the Jamaal and very central. however fairly quiet too.
the rooms are amaising, the terrace is fantastic affording great views and a place to relax in between shopping trips.
the staff are wery professional, relaxed and friendly at the same time, making feel at home and welcome.
breakfast is more than enough to fill you up and let you sample snippets of typical local food together with the more widdely known french/continental.
nothing is too much for the people running this place and I look forward to stay there again.

Room Tip: Kobe room= smallest &noisier. others wonderful
