Visited October 2012 and wrote this upon our return but forgot to post it!
I spent a lot of time researching which Riad to choose and am so very pleased we chose this one. We opted for their 4-night package which was great value (look for 'Our offers' on the website) and then stayed an extra night!
When we arrived they had arranged for a guide (Shafik) to take us on a tour of the Medina. This was the best thing that could have happened as it gave us the confidence to go out and about on our own (with our 11 year old daughter). We actually booked him for another day to visit some monuments as his knowledge was superb and we got so much more out of it than had we been on our own.
There are alleys everywhere in the Medina and it would be very easy to get lost. From Riad Kniza it was incredibly easy to get to places as there is one street which forks off left to the Souks and straight on to the Djemaa el Fna. You are also on the edge of the city walls so very easy to get taxis etc.
The staff are simply wonderful. I read the reviews saying that 'nothing is too much trouble' and it isn't. I have never experienced service quite like it. Samira and Amina on Reception are superb. They will happily arrange/suggest anything you may want to do. They booked a horse and caleche to pick us up, rather than walk to the square to get one, as we were visiting the Majorelle Gardens (and it was the most ornate of all the carriages we saw whilst there!), booked all our restaurants and arranged transport if we needed it - they even sent one of the 'boys' to walk us to the restaurant on our first night as we were slightly apprehensive! On day two I needed to change some money and Samira sent someone to change it for us. On our final evening we were moving to another Suite and they transferred everything for us without having to pack, and it goes on .......
The Riad itself is just beautiful and the furnishings were stunning. We loved having breakfast on the roof top terrace and could have happily stayed up there all day! There are various seating areas (both covered and uncovered) with sunbeds too.
We ate in the Riad for 2 nights and I have to say it was, without doubt, the best food we had in the whole of our trip to Morocco (we had also spent 4 nights in the Atlas Mountains first).
The Riad has been in the same family for centuries which is very unusual in Marrakech and you sense the feeling of pride. Kamal, the director/owner's son, was there a lot of the time and was always happy to talk about his family home and I saw his father, Mohamed, there a couple of times. I thanked him for welcoming us into his beautiful home and he replied by saying "It is your home now" and that is exactly how it feels!
