We stayed at the Riad Kniza at the end of September, the staff and the service was amazing, nothing was too much trouble, the food was excellent and the waiters were amazing the way they laid out the many dishes, the dining areas and the roof terraces were great places to eat and relax, the location of this riad is also excellent, as soon as you come out of the riad you are in the real Marrakech, the alleys and stalls go right down to the main square, our room was spacious and beautifully decorated as is the whole Riad. Staying here was a 5 star experience.

My husband and I stayed at the Riad Kniza for 4 nights in September on our first visit to Marrakech. I cannot recommend this Riad enough, it really is a beautiful oasis of peace and calm right in the centre of the craziness that is Marrakech. It is beautifully decorated, comfortable and calm, but what really makes this hotel stand out are the wonderful staff. Everyone smiles and greets you, and the waiters are by far the most pleasant waiters we have ever met in a hotel and put so much detail into arranging the vast quantities of delicious food on your table (breakfast can keep you going until your evening meal)! Wonderful masseuse, and outstanding reception staff who really care and want to make your visit very special, especially Samira who kept putting up with us changing our minds about restaurant bookings!
It is a perfect location for exploring the sights of Marrakech and if you book the 4 day package the guides and drivers are very good and make it exceptional value for money. Amazing good value, fabulous food, friendly, helpful staff, great location, very clean and comfortable, 5 stars plus.

My wife and I have just returned from our first visit to Marrakech to celebrate our 10th Wedding Aniversary. Neither of us really knew what to expect.

To say we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. After the short transfer to the Medina from the airport (circa 10-15 minutes), we got our first taste of the markets. Initially the experience was overwhelming - the sounds, bussling people and motorbikes whizzing by were quite a shock to the senses; however, in a short space of time, we adjusted to this and came to enjoy the hectic side of the old town. That being said, the quiet tranquility that greeted us when we walked into the Riad was bliss. The riad entrance could be easily missed down a small side street, but the door leads into a maze of beautifully decorated rooms maintained to the highest standards.

We started our experience with a lunch on the roof top terrace, washed down with a couple of the local beers (Casablanca) while we waited for our room to be ready. We were then shown to our room (a Junior Suite) - it was spacious with a lounge area and study, and rose petals everywhere. The selection of TV channels was limited, but then watching TV would be missing the point.

The staff were unbelievably accommodating - nothing was too much trouble, and being able to take breakfast anywhere we chose (the roof terrace mainly) felt like a real treat. The food was also excellent, with breakfast being a lavish selection of breads, cakes, cereals, eggs, yoghurt, coffee, tea and orange juice. We quickly started to skip lunch as the portions were enormous.

The Riad helped to arrange taxi transfers for dinners, book any reservations we asked and make us feel welcome throughout. They also arranged for us to enjoy a Hammam in their Spa for a small extra charge (circa 30 euros each) - an experience worth having.

Overall, the Riad was everything (and more) that we could have hoped for. 5 stars all the way!

Behind a big wooden door is a lovely oasis of calm - that is Riad Kniza!

The service here is impeccable - from the time you book your room, all the questions you may have of them in advance of your trip, your arrival through to your departure. I would really recommend this place. The staff are wonderful.

I haven't written a long review because I think there are so many excellent reviews on here, it is really not necessary to elaborate more.

Of course there will be more modern Riads and Hotels in Marrakech, but if you want to feel you are in Morocco (which we did - i.e. hotel owned by a Moroccan family and designed inside to feel like you are part of living history), but be confident of cleanliness and service, then this is the place for you. If you like bland and corporate, maybe its not for you... but then I would question what the heck you are doing travelling abroad anyway!

There was one review on here that I must respond to - just before we set off on 12th September I noticed there was a recent review from someone talking about the local market outside of the hotel - they described narrow streets and feeling like they were constantly within an inch of their life with the many passing mopeds. Firstly, this is an old, ancient, historical city - so, yes, streets are narrow, but you don't get highways and dual carriageways in such cities, so goodness knows what they were expecting. Secondly, yes a lot of people do use mopeds and there is a lot of traffic but provided you walk at the side of the road and don't make erratic movements I can't see a reason why you should feel unsafe.

We stayed in the hotel at the same time as the review below (the doggy in goggles pic!) and this lady has travelled A LOT (and was great fun by the way) so if she thinks it good then I think you should have every confidenc in staying in this place!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Kenzo Suite on the first floor. I think there were four suites clustered around a m...

Riad Kniza is located just inside the Medina which is a wonderful location. Once you open the door this whole world of graciousness opens up to you. My room was massive (no 3) a full sitting area with an open fire place then a wonderful king size bed. When I walked in the room was strewn with rose petals, even in the toilet bowl! The service is stunning breakfast is served wherever you want it, your room, the rooftop or any of the sitting rooms. The food is excellent and plentiful. The pool feels almost like a Roman bath. The owner comes around and insists that this is your house as well during your stay and if you should require anything just ask. I would certainly go back here.

This is my first review on Trip Advisor and this was our first trip to Morocco and as our honeymoon we wanted something special... Riad Kniza didn't disappoint.

First of all we loved Marrakech. It was a culture shock at first and with the mixture of sights, sounds and smells, it's an assault on the senses but you can't help but get swept along by it's charm and the friendliness of it's people.

Down an anonymous side street on the edge of the medina, Riad Kniza in total contrast is an oasis of calm. From the moment we first entered to the moment we left we felt like nothing was too much trouble for every one of the polite and friendly staff. They all speak English very well and were very patient when I insisted on practising my not so good French!

Meals could be taken pretty much when and where we wanted and the food was delicious. The riad doesn't have a restaurant as such so evening meals have to be ordered in advance and, although a tad pricey compared to eating in the square, the food is superb... you have to try the lamb tagine cooked with figs, apricots and almonds.

The building itself is just stunning and each room is unique. The quiet courtyards, cool rooms and relaxing roof terraces have all been refurbished beautifully in traditional Moroccan style and are adorned with an impressive collection of antiques. The icing on the cake is that everywhere is kept spotlessly clean.

We had a package which included transfers, a couple of excursions, dinner for 2 with wine, free soft drinks and a complimentary massage along with the usual breakfast and I'd highly recommend it, it's great value. On the subject of excursions, the guide was great, very informative and helpful but I'd avoid buying anything on the guided tour of the souks as it was a bit overpriced and the spices we bought didn't seem to be the same thing that they demonstrated to us in the shop!

Thanks to everyone at Riad Kniza for making our stay so perfect... If you are planning a trip to Marrakech look no further.

I just opened an account so I could write about my experience here. Riad Kniza is an amazing place, completely magical. You would never expect this quiet oasis to be nestled in this derb with all the busyness right outside and around the corner. Hicham and Amina were wonderful from the moment we began emailing about a month before my trip right up until the second we left. Always sweet and ever accommodating, they made our short stay in Marrakech fulfilling and enjoyable. Since my boyfriend and I were only staying in Marrakech two nights (our first and last night in Morocco), they set up a half day tour of the city when we arrived with a wonderful guide, Moustafa.

Moustafa was amazing; he was incredibly informative and genuinely cared that we learned about the culture and history of Morocco and Marrakech. He also took us through the souks, which would have been intimidating that first day without him. After we told him the sites we were interested in seeing, Moustafa explained exactly what we'd go over that day and how to pick up our tour by ourselves on the last day when we were back in Marrakech. That last day was a breeze (besides the heat), and we felt very comfortable when we revisited the souks as well (and was even able to find certain places we wanted to go back to without any problems).

We had a quick lunch the day we arrived at the Riad by the pool (before our tour); it was cooked fresh and was DELICIOUS (skewers). Breakfast in the morning (on the terrace!) was also very good and our waiter for both meals (I didn't get his name) was very sweet and professional.

The rooms were AMAZING! The first night we stayed in a "Deluxe Double Room" and it was delightful. Everything in the Riad is adorned with these gorgeous antiques and this room was no exception with its lamps and mosaic dresser (with matching mirror!) and canopy bed all decorated with rose petals (even in the toilet bowl!). The last night we stayed in the "Royal Bahia Suite." We learned Bahia means beautiful and beautiful is an understatement. We did not see how the Deluxe Double could be trumped (except maybe in space) but my goodness this was an exquisite, splendid suite!

Again, none of this would've mattered if it weren't for their lovely staff. Thank you so much for making our first trip to Morocco so special.
