We had a fantastic day out to Imlil with Hassan our guide. We were collected from Jemaa al Fna square at 9am and after a luxury minibus journey we were in the valley ready to hike for about 10:30am. Hassan will ask what you would like to see and where you would like to walk so you can choose and plan your trip with his maps.
Hassan and his family his immediate family are originally from Imlil village and so he took us on a familiar 3 hour hike up and around the mountains in the valley. Although it was winter so we could not appreciate it fully, it was still breathtaking to be 2000ft and looking up at the highest peak in the Atlas range covered in snow with bright blue skies and hot sun on our faces.
Hassan knows all about the physical geography of the area and will point out and explain about rock types, formation and it's relation to the plants, animals and locals way of life. Also as he comes from Berber ancestry he can talk for hours about the history of Morocco, the tribes and rulers and all about the Berber culture.
We met some Berber guides along the way who were generously handing out sweet mint tea to walkers, and in the cold mountain air it tastes like nectar!
We stopped for lunch at a guest house in the village and his family prepared a wonderful traditional feast for us to enjoy on the patio with views across the valley. As the Berbers will give everything they have to guests even if they have nothing for themselves, this was a very heartfelt gesture and very much appreciated.
Everyone in the village knows 'crazy Hassan' and you can tell from the locals you encounter that he is well loved by his family and friends.
I would thoroughly recommend an excursion with Atlas & Sahara Tours as they are very good value for money and if you are fortunate to have Hassan as your guide, you will be in for a very interesting trip in excellent company. Its a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and would be a perfect trip in the spring or summer when the valley is green and full of flowers.

Had a day trip from Marrakech to the Atlas Mountain. Picked up by our guide Hassan and driver and a smooth ride up. We were very lucky with the weather. All clear skies. Had a very nice three hour hike with spectacular views of the Mountains followed by an excellent tagine lunch in the sun and a short walk back to the village and car. Then down to Marrakesh.

Highly recommended and a prefect break from the hustle and noise of Marrakech.

The hike with Hassam in the atlas mountains was definitely the highlight of our 10 days tour of morocco.
We were picked up at the airport on perfect time, the driver was very corteous and polite.
We met Mustapaha at Imlil, and were introduced to our guide Hassam, and our muleteers,
The mountains are beautiful, but having Hassam with us to tell us about the history, culture and habits of the local people has made the two days memorable.
Overall a perfect organization.

A few weeks ago I was reading other peoples rave reviews about Atlas and Sahara Tours Imlil - Ait Mizane Valley day trip and I am delighted to say they are all true! I agree that booking is easy, you are well looked after and safe. Mohammed picked us up at our hotel at 8.30 and we had a cheery chat on the way to Imlil stopping to take photos of the terrific views and also at an all female co-operative to watch them making argan oil products (no hard sell but an opportunity to buy if you wanted). You could also use the toilets there. We arrived at Imlil where Mustapha met us on the roof of the Cafe Atlas Toubkal to make sure we were linked up with the correct guide, Jamal (a law student and nice local guy).We settled payment over a cup of tea and biscuits. We accidentally overpaid and he gave us back the difference - an honest man! Another opportunity to use the toilet before heading off. The walk with Jamal was a pleasant hike through villages with some steep parts as we headed higher up the mountain. You'll see some of village life and pass a few people with working donkeys. If you have mobility or breathing problems this is not for you but I reckon it is manageable for most people. Ankles and knees take a bit of a pounding when going back down some of the rocky steps but with the right footwear the overall experience is very good indeed. Lunch was on comfy cushions at low tables on Omars rooftop including a very tasty salad, tagine and fresh fruit from the local trees. Plenty of mint tea and water and loads of bread on offer. Terrific views and a warm welcome - all done well. Another opportunity to go to the loo and then off again to complete the circuit before going on the camel ride. That was an enjoyable short trip through villages and flatter, less remarkable countryside. Jamal stayed with us and walked along with the camel handler. It was easy getting on and off and Aisha my camel was gentle and the ride was slow and steady with other opportunities to take pictures. The order of the day is dependent on weather and light so your trip may differ. Some people told us they did the camel ride first. Mohammed was then waiting at the other end to take us back to our hotel before 4.30. All-in-all a great day out, just us with our guide and driver and a set of fantastic pictures and great memories. Wear walking shoes or good trainers and layers as the temperature can vary with altitude but honestly it wasnt that cold in the late December sunshine. Enjoy yourselves and don't hesitate to book with this company if you want a safe, enjoyable day out.

Right from the start the email responses were quick and very helpful making it easy for to decide which tour suited us best and we booked from the UK for a full day to the High Atlas mountains including Teoulet Casbah and Ait Benhadou.
On the day of our trip the guide (Abdul) was there early and from the moment we met him was polite, cheerful, helpful and a real joy to be with for a the day.
As this was a private tour, Abdul took us where we needed to go but also stopped when we wanted to take photos. We had a comfortable 4x4 and Abdul drove very well.
Compared to the stories we heard from others I would recommend Atlas and Sahara Day Tours as they are a good, well run business and I would recommend them.
