I booked the 2 hour camel ride and 2 hour hike in the Atlas Mountains with Atlas and Sahara Day Tours. It was booked one day beforehand but there were no problems at all sorting it out for us and Mustapha emailed to confirm the booking within a few hours

The day was really well organised. We were picked up from our hotel by Omar at 8.30am and driven to the base of the mountains.

During the drive to the mountains Omar provided lots of interesting facts about the Atlast Mountains which kept us entertained. He also offered to stop for us to take photos as the scenery was breathtaking. Omar is also a very good driver because those roads were not easy to navigate but we felt safe with his driving.

Omar left us at the base of the mountains with our tour guide Hassan who was with us for the rest of the day. Before we went the camel ride, we were given mint tea and Hassan packed away a few bottles of water for us as it was really hot that day.

The camel ride was amazing. It was really quiet and peaceful along our route as we went up the mountains and around the valley and villages but 2 hours is just about enough as we were getting a bit tired towards the end.

We were then picked up by Omar again and taken to Imlil where we had a traditional Moroccan lunch and rested for a while.

This was followed by a 2 hour hike around Imlil where we saw the waterfall and the way the local Berber people live followed by tea in one of their houses. I thought it would be tiring but it was was perfect but I would suggest you wear good walking shoes.

The scenery was amazing and our guide Hassan was really knowledgeable and kept answering all my questions whilst also telling us about the interesting history and culture of the region.

We were three females but felt safe and were looked after really well for the whole of the day. I cannot wait to return to Marrakech to book some of the other tours as we only saw a fraction of the Mountains and I would love to see more.

All in all an amazing day and thanks to everyone for making it a wonderful experience for us.

Last August we went to Marrakech and there decided to go on trip to the Atlas Mountains.
We choose Atlas and Sahara Day Tours because of its good reviews.
Gladly, our trip was no different than those we have been reading about.
We agreed everything by mail with Mustapha and we made sure that all went well, always concerned in making a memorable trip for us.
We were picked up on time at the Riad by Mohamed who speaks English very well and then he drove by car to Imlil. We made a stop at a co-operative where we could see the women that make the beauty products.
At Imlil a guide, whose name was also Mohamed, was waiting for us. On foot, we started hiking and climbed from about 1700 m to 2100 m on the Atlas Mountains. We walked through 5 of the 8 Berber villages and had lunch in a Berber house on the balcony over a waterfall.
At the end of the trip we were driven back to the Riad in Marrakech and everything went well.
We won't forget the difficult bargain we had with Mustapha but we found a way so that we could make the trip.

We liked the proffesionalism of this company a lot. First we had a very thorough correspondence exchange with Mustapha about different trips they offer. Finally we decided to go to Ourika valley as we were under short timeframe in Marrakech. If we were longer we'd certainly go for Merzouga desert trip. Trip to Atlas mountains was very nice. Mohammad, our driver and guide arrived in our riad even few minutes before in order to be sure that departure from puzzled medina will start as scheduled. His command of Englsh was very good. The car was quite new Kia SUV with air conditioning. Fluent and comfortable ride - nothing close to the city taxi drivers. His knowledge of the region was helpful. In the mountains, mountain guide was waiting for us. Very agile. The only downside was that it was not emphasized enough that getting to the waterfall requires some preparation for mountain trekking including non slippery shoes and some degree of fitness (it was tiring after 14 days of very intensive touring non stop). In any event the views were excellent and the tour is recommended.

Totally professional and charming company. We were picked up by 4WD punctually at our out-of-the-way riad and driven up into the Atlas mountains, where camels were waiting for us. My wife, 7-year-old son and I were the only clients that day so we had the whole ride to ourselves, climbing up through Berber villages and through the Atlas foothills amid apple and cherry orchards. I can only imagine what it would be like in spring. After two hours we were picked up and driven to Imlil, a mountain town and trekking waystation for lunch, and the start of a two-hour trek up to 3000m in the shadow of Mount Toubkal, the second highest peak in Africa. Very thoughtfully, a mule was provided for our son, who might otherwise have found it a hard walk in the heat. The scenery was superb. it was how I imagine Nepal to look. After our descent into Imlil we were each presented with a gift pair of leather slippers which we chose ourselves. A really well organised and unforgettable trip. Abdul the driver was terrific character. Mohamed the guide was quieter but a complete local who knew everyone along the way and was bursting with knowledgeable about the area.

We booked our 3 day trip to the mountains & desert through Atlas Sahara Tours, on the basis of excellent reviews, and were not disappointed. Communication with Mustapha , in advance of our arrival was very efficient and even though there was a little confusion re the length of our trip, it was quickly resolved. Our driver was highly professional , happy to offer stops at villages and a local agricultural souk, as well as organizing a tour of an original Jewish village c/o a friend and an extended visit to a veritable "Aladdin's cave" of Berber artifacts amassed by a passionate and well informed, private collector. The camel ride into the desert, albeit short, was enchanting and the generous hospitality of the nomads at the camp made our first night under the stars truly memorable.
Our guide for the mountain trek was both friendly and knowledgeable, delighted and proud to impart information about the landscape and his Berber heritage. The "picnic" prepared by a local "chef" at the Coll, with food brought up by mule, was impressive ,beautifully presented and most welcome after clambering over boulders in temperatures exceeding 42 degrees!
The mountain guest house with its stunning views, proved very comfortable and offered a lovely opportunity to meet and stay with a local family.
On the basis of our experience and from talking to other people who had signed up for tours with other, cheaper, operators, I would highly recommend Atlas Sahara to anyone wishing to explore this part of the country within a short time frame.
One small point: if you're undertaking a 3 day trip during the summer months without ascending Mt Toubkal, don't bother bringing sleeping bags or sleeping bag liners:everything is provided by the guest house and the Nomad camp!
Now looking forward to arranging an extended trip into the desert with the same company....
