“Wonderful short break”
Reviewed August 24, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We had high expectations of Dar Ajiba from previous reviewers on TripAdvisor and I can happily say the place is even better than it looks.

Firstly our guide Moulay, who I would now happily call a close friend, met us at the airport and was so kind and helpful we decided then and there he would stay with us for all 4 days. He helped us with everything and was great with the kids as well. He also took us to shop at some very unique places and to a few wholesalers saving us some money and bargaining (though even there you need to do some negotiating).

Staying in the Medina at Dar Ajiba was the best decision we made as you really feel like you are part of the old city with its bustling bazaars and winding maze like alleys. We spent the first 2 days around the bazaars so didn't even know there was a large modern city outside of the walls of the Medina.

The riad itself is far nicer than the pictures can show. We were there during 40 degree c. heat but it still felt cool and comfortable within the open courtyard or the living rooms.

Maria and Fatima would arrive every morning to make us some amazing breakfast which set us up nicely for the day. Both were very friendly and helpful.

Others will have written in length about the great things to do in Marrakech so I won't go into that but if you want the real charm and wonder of Marrakech then I would highly recommend staying at Dar Ajiba and you have to spend time with Moulay, I can't emphasise that enough. He made our holiday.

This riyad we booked was perfect right from the start. when we booked we had fast efficent replies. when we landed in Marrakech we had the airport transfer as part of the package which was soo good one less thing to worry about! once you get close to the riyad you have to walk due to the small alley ways cars cannot go into them. the walk itself was interesting! its a bit of a culture shock but hey your their to embrace the culture!! the breakfast was fantastic the service all in all amazing i would recomment this to family and friends!! the main sqaure is like a 5 min walk soo close so you have everything at your door step!

“Good Location, nice staff, comfortable rooms”

Very helpful to have an airport pick up and quick tour of the area on the first night. The staff were great, and even chased us down on the last day when we forgot something at the house!

Tbh after the first 3 hours i turned around to my best friend Khuram and said " what a mistake, we should have booked a place in the new city". But honestly i have fallen in love with the old city, the people the atmosphere i cant wait to go back in August and i cant wait to stay back in the Dar Ajiba. People photos do nit do it justice you have to see it/live it live. The staff in Dar Ajiba were brilliant.. such humble loving caring people.

So glad you had fun with our staff! They are very open to spending time with guests or leaving them to enjoy the home on their own - whatever guests prefer. We love the location too, since it's a relatively quiet neighborhood, but convenient to most everything you want to do in Marrakech. You are so welcome to stay again and again!

“Charming house - an authentic experience”
Reviewed January 14, 2014 for a stay in December 2013

My husband and I, daughters and granddaughters stayed at Dar Ajiba for Christmas. Dar Ajiba is charming and provides an authentic experience of living in a riad. Moulay patiently waited at the airport when one family member's flight was delayed and hence we arrived far later than expected. However, after some welcome drinks and biscuits, he accompanied us to find a restaurant that was still open. He was always available when required, as was the excellent driver. He was unfailingly helpful and cheerful and a great hit with all the family. Fatima and Maria were also very helpful. One of the highlights of our stay was having breakfast in the sunshine on the roof, even in December. However, one has to bear in mind that nights are very cold - much colder than we had anticipated! Consequently it was a bit of a shock to find that all the bedrooms and living rooms, being centred around the courtyard open to the elements, necessitated a hurried scurry to regain the warmth and many cries of 'Quick, shut the door'! We ate a main meal at lunchtimes and cooked ourselves in the evenings. However, with no door to the kitchen, one had to cook in one's coat which did feel a bit like camping! Having said that, there was plenty of heating in all the rooms except the kitchen. The riad is situated in the north of the Medina and we found a nearby shop for basics. A highlight of our stay was the trip Moulay organised to Imlil where we went on a trek with a local guide. Of course the whole family very much enjoyed the souks, although we rather wished we had known in advance that one should expect to pay only half the amount suggested! To conclude, this riad represents good value for money, provides a charming and authentic experience and would be a particularly lovely place to stay during the spring and autumn. Despite the cold, we did enjoy our week.

“A Find!”

Dar Ajiba is a lovely and large riad, beautifully decorated and a delight to stay in. There is plenty of space, including comfortable bedrooms, cozy sitting areas and a large roof top terrace. Maria, your cook, will prepare delicious hot breakfasts for you, Moulay is available to guide you and Fatima makes sure you have everything you need. The location near the Ben Youssef mosque is to the north of the souks putting you within a reasonable distance of everything you might wish to see. I recommend it without reservation.
