When we travel, we like to eat at local establishments. Finding one that is in the Medina is not as easy as it sounds (well at least one that won't kill you).
On our walk from our riad (La Maison Arabe) towards Jemaa el Fna, we would smell this wonderful local restaurant. We noticed that there were always a few locals inside the place but never any tourists.
We went out to the counter to see what they had and were given a menu to order from (in French). With my broken french and some limited english of the staff we were able to order a couple of sandwiches, drinks, and some french fries.
Similar to other local establishments, food is cooked to order. The staff was nice enough to not only wipe down our table, but also put down paper mats. This is not common for locals.
Two of us were able to eat for under 100 dirhams. Best part: This place is open late every day.
