Our second Riad in Marrakech and they couldn't have been more different. Our first was dark and dramatic and this one light and elegant. Our room on the ground floor was very sweet and beautifully decorated as was the whole Riad. Lovely linens and towels and the best shower ever. Breakfast was delicious and the courses just kept coming - a bit confusing as to what was coming when as we found ourselves eating the sweet before all the savouries had arrived. Best orange juice. Sadly didn't have a chance to experience cocktails on the beautiful terrace but did have mint tea there before we left for the airport. The whole Riad is beautifully and artistically decorated and the staff quietly efficient, helpful and friendly. All in all a fabulous last night in Marrakech and we will certainly be returning.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The Palacio de las Especias recovers the splendour of a building erected in the 19th century. The building was originally owned by the Echerid family, who were spice merchants but, unfortunately, the years and neglect had taken their toll. Today, respecting the original building, but adapting it to provide the comfort that an establishment of this nature deserves, it opens its rooms from within the heart of the Medina, in order to provide its visitors with the enjoyment and relaxation they are looking for. The decor of its rooms, the coolness of its patios, the murmuring of its fountains and the peaceful evenings on the terrace mean that resting inside its rooms becomes the happy ending to a perfect day. ... more less
