“Fascinating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

A huge space filled with capped graves, punctuated with tombs of great rabbis. The back wall is filled with elaborate mausoleums, particularly from the French Protectorate period. Powerful. (It is also free; donations accepted of course.)

“Interesting”

Keppel for men mandatory (available there), women should bring a scarf to cover their hair. When we were there there was a man who gave us interesting information about the cemetery.

“Old Jewish Cemetary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Out of the way but marked on maps. Interesting unmarked graves over fairly large area. Walled off from the rest of the medina.

“Old Jewish Cemetery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

We were moved to see some of the old graves in this enormous cemetery, dating back to the 14th century. The last burial took place earlier in Spring 2013.

“well worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

Do visit the Synagogue also. This whole area was, this Century, a large flourishing Jewish area. All gone now. But this is not at all a tragic place. There is no bad feelings here like ,for example, in old Cemeteries Eastern Europe.
