Last night we (2 adults, 1 child of 9 years old) returned from our 3 day private desert tour, tired but fulfilled. We were very well taken care of. Cheikh was a safe driver and nice guide who knows a lot about Morocco. En route we were taken to nice lunch places where food was of good quality and people were very welcoming. Also the hotel for the first night, Chez Pierre, was very good. Food was delicious, Moroccan with some French twist. Very nice and tasteful restaurant. Also breakfast was great. The persons at the tentcamp were very nice and helpful. In the evening we played the drums together. Tent was very comfortable. No regrets whatsoever and would recommend Morocco Dunes to others!

We used them for a semi-custom trip including Fes, Marrakech, Imlil, Quarzazate ( where we stayed in the very very nice Dar Chaama Riad) Essouria and beyond. Some of the Riads we picked others were MDT choices and all were nice, clean and conveniant. We had our own driver and and a four by four that was very comfortable. We experienced real Morocco which can be gritty and glorious. Hamid helped organize the itinerary. All the places suggested to stop to eat were good and reasonable. I only wish I had asked for driving times between the places we chose to visit. Some were very long, but always worth it. Also we had planned to see El Jadida on the way to Casablanca the day before we flew out but the driver suggested a faster way to Casablanca. I would say skip Casablanca- the coastal cities are far more interesting.

Morocco Dunes Tours is owned and run by the same people who look after the Dar Chaama Riad in Ouarzazate.

Although I didn't get a chance to tour with them on my most recent trip (my wife had a back injury that saw us return home earlier than planned), I can say from my time at the Riad these people would be my only choice for a Morroccan desert tour.

They are friendly, great fun, and fantastic hosts. I could not have asked for more from any accommodation I've had, and I'm sure this attitude carries through to everything else they do.

Nothing was too much trouble and it was fantastic to be met with a smile at the end of the day when we'd come back. Hamid and his team really came to feel like family during our stay.

Can't recommend them highly enough.

My husband and I met our 21-tear old son in Casablanca March 21-31, 2013 and spent nine wonderful days in Morocco. I had considered a similar trip which included the Imperial cities, but learned that it was on a bus with 39 other people. Morocco Dunes Tours was not much more money, but dramatically better! We were able to have a trip custom designed for us that incorporated all of the things that we wanted to see and do. They made all of the riad (hotel) reservations at places with excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. We were met at the airport by our driver, Hamid and a nice, clean Toyota Land Cruiser. He took recommended a restaurant for lunch and helped us navigate the menu. Then we visited the Mosque, the largest outside of Mecca with the tallest minaret in the world.
We left Casablanca and headed for Fes. The only negative was that Hamid's English was not fabulous, so we had to use some French. (If you go, a small French dictionary would be helpful throughout the country). We were his first tour of the season, so his English should improve.
The great thing about having a car was that we could do things like buy cases of water at a grocery store for drinking and tooth brushing. (We were very careful, and never got sick!)
In Fes, Hamid took us to our riad, which was lovely, and then walked us through the Medina to a great restaurant. We had a delicious dinner and he was waiting to drive us back to our rooms.
The tour was well thought out and included all breakfasts and most dinners. We had official tour guides in Fes, Marrakesh, Dades Valley, and at the waterfall. Hamid stopped whenever we wanted, and knew nice restaurants along the way.
When we were in the desert, we went four-wheeling for several hours, which was lots of fun. At sunset, we rode camels into the desert for 1 1/2 hours, stopping along the way to see the sun set behind the dunes. We had dinner and spent the night in Berber tents. Hamid was an excellent driver, especially on white-knuckle roads! (Steep drop-offs, no guide rails!) We went to a movie studio, an argan oil women's cooperative, 120 meter waterfall, had a traditional Hammam (wonderful experience-- and Hamid took us to a reasonably priced one, not touristy). We drove for 20 kilometers over rocks and had mint tea in a cave with nomads. Much of this would be possible on a big tour.
I travel a lot, and rarely use tour companies, but Morocco was different. Morocco Dunes Tours saved me lots of research time, and it was so nice having a driver who knew how to navigate through crazy traffic, desert sands, rocky paths and treacherous mountain roads. All of the recommendations were spot on, as well.
