“A welcoming and beautiful retreat from the city.”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

Riad Alkederi is a stunningly beautiful place to stay close to the main square in Marrakech. Having never visited Morocco before it was a little daunting arriving at night and finding ourselves in the back alleys of the souks. However, as soon as we arrived at the riad we were given such a warm welcome we felt instantly at home. The building itself is delightful with small exquisite bedrooms, bathrooms decorated in local mosaic tiles, cosy bar area where we served mint tea, and a sunny rooftop terrace. We stayed at Riad Alkaderi on the first and then again on the last night of our holiday, when we were upgraded to their stunning suite. We also sampled their own tajines at lunch time - the best we had tried all week. And the staff are wonderful - genuinely warm and hospitable, and keen to make sure that we felt at home and enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, whether you are traveling alone or with others: use it as a base to explore the city, safe in the knowledge that however noisy or chaotic it might become in the main square, peace, tranquility and hospitality are just round the corner.

If this is your trip to Marrakesh..you will not find a better a better place to stay.
Out of all these years of travelling, we have never found such warm and genuine hospitality.
They couldn't do enough for us and treated us like family.
This place is really clean and beautiful.
My friend became ill on holiday and Katy cared for her as if she was her own daughter...couldn't have asked for more. Really thankful for her help. Giancarlos, thank you to you also for your kindness.
Hope you see you all again someday.
day.

Travelling to Marrakech for the first time we were overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the main square. However, our stay at the beautiful Riad Alkaderi was the highlight being the idyllic oasis of tranquility that we craved from the mayhem of the souks and street vendors. The staff are professional and courteous, they provide every amenity and support when you need it. They arranged a trip to the Atlas Mountains with a driver and English speaking Berber guide (excellent). Followed by a personal masseuse for their private and modern hammam (brilliant touch and I don't mean the masseuse who was exceptional). This was followed by a romantic candle-lit meal in the Riad's courtyard. This was prepared by Khadija and Raja who became our mums for the stay. Two delightful and caring souls who adored us and who let u wake up whenever we wanted, served breakfast and dinner at a time that suited us. Perfect! However the meal they prepared with such love and attention to detail was fantastic in fact it was the best meal of the holiday; and we had eaten at La Mamounia (the 5* converted palace/hotel). There was so much food that we decided to share this with some homeless women sleeping rough in a shop doorway. I used Google translator given my limited French and Khadija understood immediately, donned her cloak and strode into the night with me to share the amazing food that we simply could not finish. The look of happiness on these old ladies faces will last with me forever. The room we had was the tent room; as you lay in the bed with its tent covered ceilings and cloth covered walls you could be mistaken for thinking that you were in a desert oasis; the bathroom suite was spectacular, a turquoise painted, ceramic tiled luxury bathroom with an octagonal shaped all-glass shower cubicle that was centred in the middle of the bathroom with a glass roof window allowing the shower to be bathed in the morning light. Truly inspired design. Breakfast was always a treat; freshly squeezed orange juice, Morrocan tea, good cafe latte's, fresh bread and a warm flaky crispy bread and soft cheese, pastries and various fruit salads that was perfect for the lazy Marrakesh mornings. Our concierge booked a front row table at Jad Mahal where there were belly dancers of the the 5* variety and a live band that churned out classic rock and pop songs to perfection - we were blown away! Best night ever ever ever! All thanks to Riad Alkaderi. Thank you all so much.

Room Tip: Go for the suite, its worth the upgrade. Ask the concierge to help organise excursions, its better t...

We stayed here for 4 nights in the suite Isabel. First off the Riad is in a great location, less than a 5 minute walk to Jemaa El Fna square. That walk is through one of the souks so is in itself quite interesting. The Riad is then down a small side alley, which is very quiet and safe, and actually provides a buffer from the hustle and bustle (and noise) of the souks. We also found the Riad very easy to find our way back to, which is great in a city in which it is so easy to get lost!

The best thing about the Riad however is the wonderful host, Katy. When we first arrived she greeted us with mint tea and every morning prepared a large breakfast for us. She was always at hand to help out and to make sure we had enough of everything (which we always did). She really is a credit to the riad and is reason enough to stay here.

We also had dinner one night in the riad, with Katy preparing a fantastic meal of tagine and cous cous. The table was beautifully set up in the middle of the courtyard and provided a lovely setting for our meal. We actually felt a little bad as there was more food than we could manage to eat.

Our room was spacious and clean, with a lovely tiled bathroom. Any time we left the riad we returned to find the room cleaned and our bed turned down. The room also had a safe which allowed us to lock away some valuables whenever we were going out.

The only confusion we encountered was over the use of the steam room/jacuzzi. We went downstairs to use it before one of the staff members came down to tell us that it had to be booked prior to use, and there was a €15 charge for using it. Not a big deal really but could maybe have been noted somewhere during the booking or when we arrived, and I wouldn't mark down the riad for this small oversight.

All in all this is a very reasonably priced riad, in a fantastic location which we would highly recommend.

Room Tip: We stayed in Suite Isabel which was very nice. There are only 6 rooms in total so I think any of the...

Stayed here for 1 week in the standard double room and was such a pleasant stay. Katya greeted us when we first arrived and made us some lovely Moroccan mint tea which was very warming. She was like a mother to us during our stay there even though there was a language barrier (she didnt understand or speak English, only French), but towards the end of the trip our French had got better and she saw that. The breakfast was good, nice Moroccan style breakfast which was all freshly cooked by Katya in the morning and runs from 6-12 so u have the flexibility of a lay in.Just note if u go on an excursion and don't need breakfast that morning let her know! Yusuf used to come there in the evenings when Katya went home and he can understand English so he gave us all the top notch restaurants and touristy things to do. Also very good at directions! This hotel is very personal as there are only 6 rooms so it's really nice and the location is perfect as the square with all the souks is just round the corner. It's not dangerous at all to walk home at night even though you do have to go down a few alley ways, it's totally safe. Overall wonderful and pleasant stay and would recommend it to anyone going to Marrakech :)

We stayed here as part of a flights +accompdation deal on a holiday booking website, costing 400 pounds each for 4 nights. Riad alkaderi is gorgeously decorated in a modern take on traditional Moroccan style . We had the junior suite which had three floors and was very much our own private space ( including private sun terrace) . Khadija and Raja, the ladies who worked there, both were incredible and really went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. Every time we left our room for more than an hour it was cleaned and tidied and moroccan tea was offered to us regularly throughout the day. Food was delicious , (particularly the French style patisserie baked in-house), however it was a little pricey to eat in, with 2 three course meals with one bottle of wine coming to around 80 euros. Only slight let down was the jacuzzi was not working when we visited but overall an excellent riad. Highly recommended, would like to return.
