What is most commonly associated with the Medina, is the big market in the center. But the Medina is so much more, the market is just part of it. Go anywhere, but if the Medina is what you're in Marrakech for, stay inside the 20 kilometer long walls surrounding it - you will notice at once when leaving the Medina.
Try to experience it both day and night - walk anywhere at daytime, but save the market visit for after dark. The Medina has everything you may look for, as long as you watch your wallet.
