amazing place - my first time in marrakech & I loved the medina. Bartered, ate, stayed, drank, did it all - a full-on experience of sounds & smells & sights.

We stayed in the heart of the medina while in Marrakech and felt that it really added to our enjoyment of our holiday. We were able more clearly, and on a daily basis, how people go about their daily lives. I would recommend staying in the medina rather than in a nice modern hotel in the new town.

Easy to get lost in but someone will set you on the right track. The square is worth seeing during the day and lit up at night with food stalls in their hundreds. Snail soup to kebabs and salads available in different stalls.

For shopping visit 144 in the medina. A veritable Aladins cave of household furnishings, furniture and objects d'arts.

Something no to be missed but completely crazy. Traffic goes in all directions. The noise has to be experienced.
