“bidding wars”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

You have to see it to believe it. It seems like chaos and watch out for the moped riders, although they never seem to hit anyone.
You could probably buy anything there and spend hours trying to find your way out.
Always bargain and even walk away. If you like snakes no better place to have one be wrapped around you .

Enjoy

“maze of hastle and barriers to viewing.”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

The souks are have hundreds of stalls, all of which are interesting. However, the place is like a maze, and it can almost be guaranteed you will get lost. Additionally window shopping will mean you get grabbed or pulled into shops with people trying to sell stuff. Which is understandable, but makes for a very stressful combination when also lost. Additionally while lost, we got told we were going in the wrong direction by a local who offered to take us back to the square. Long story short he was one of the many conmen in the souks who lead tourists around the souks, purposely confusing them, only to so they can go no further and demand money. Luckily the police grabbed our guy, and helped us back to the square.....but yea....stressful.

“Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

You can find very nice and good things there but you have to negotiate here for everything….if you can! Nice and tiring experience.

“What a great experience!”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

This was one of the highlights of my visit to Morocco. I was part of a tour but I went back in the later part of the afternoon with four other women. At no time did we feel threatened. It was awesome! Felt like we were in a movie set! Yes, it was noisy but that was part of the charm.Yes, everyone wants money for photos but you don't have to take the photo. That is their lively hood. Helen made a good point about unofficial tour guides and beggars.Bathrooms are sketchy and hard to find. I would go back in a heartbeat!
