“This is not all that Marrakech is about”
Reviewed October 12, 2012 via mobile

I like the Souks but everyone seems to head here when there is so much more to see in Marrakech. It's great to wander about and we have never had any hassle other than people trying to sell you stuff you don't want, but hey that's their living. It's fun but it's like going to any market in any other country in the world or Kasbar in any other Middle Eastern or North African Country. Visit and enjoy but don't let it be the focus of your time in Marrakech.

“ONCE IS ENOUGH”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

OK I agee the Souk is a must see place, but the problem is that you simply cannot just BUY something, it takes 40 mins or more to reach a conclusion, and whilst novel to begin with it becommes very tireing, and somewhat boring to have to go through the whole bargaining escapade EVERY single time...if something is worth a Fiver, then why do you have to have a mini argument everytime to get it down from £50.....maybe there are mugs...sorry people out there who will pay £40 or £50, that's why they do it...and whilst I understand battering is in their Blood, it does becomme tedious after several days.Plus Restaurants around Square are just awefull, ok for a Coffee or Ice Cream but that's it, pictures on outside Menu's do not tell the whole story.

“You have to go there”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

You have to go there - so much to see & if you are happy to haggle you will get some good deals. Don't be put off by the traders hassling you - just walk away and look elsewhere. If you want to see the monkeys and snakes go in the morning though beware they try to ask for lots of money for photos so just knock them down or walk away. Everyone wants to be your guide & if you get lost just ask someone but beware they either want money or to take you via a store or stall. Best time to visit at night when it all comes alive, however during the day good for looking round.

“Wildly fantastic”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

It's the Mother Ship for all things hand-made and arty. Not too busy, but vibrant. Haggle to your hearts content, if your not happy with the way the bartering is going, simply walk away..there's plenty of alternatives selling similar products. Use their competition to your advantage. Ladies...be aware of the occasional wandering hand upon your derrier! My husband developed hawk eyes on this trip :-)
