“20X better than Bahia Palace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

After my family's incredible let-down with Bahia Palace we headed back toward Medina Marrakech to find this Dar Si Said (directly North about 5 minutes walk). Much better maintained than Bahia Palace, less people - more to look at (artifacts, daggers, etc.) and historical perspective written in French and English. Then after leaving walked North and found a really nice restaurant for lunch. Reasonably priced but very well prepared and presented.

“Beautiful palace, should be renovated though”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

The Dar Si Said Palace is a great example of the interesting Moroccan art and architecture, but sadly also of the lack of renovation that is seen everywhere in Morocco. The palace and the museum were fantastic. The objects were cool, the garden was a great scene for photos and the mosaics were so special. Unfortunately, some rooms were not renovated and many rooms lacked furniture. When you are from Europe and therefore used to impressive palaces full of furniture that looks like it's brand new, it is such a pity when you see an empty palace like this one, that needs renovation. I still recommend going. And after visting this museum you should go to restaurant Pepe Nero, which is very close. That restaurant is truely the best of Marrakech!

“Great handicraft!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2012

Very nice handicraft, especially textiles, in the collection! Many nice details both in the collection of items but also in the buildings. But the presentation could be better.

“Expect a stiff neck!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2011

This is a fascinating building. Architecturally you will spend most of your visit looking up (hence the title). The ceilings are the most amazingly crafted pieces of art showing Moroccan craftanship at it's best. Moulded, painted, carved, this place has it all. You alost feel you should be wheeled round lying on your back to take in all the splendour. The museum exhibits really are minor compared to the splendid building they are housed in.
