“The pink city of Morocco on the fertile land below the atlas mountains”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Flying straight into the heart of Morocco from Manchester into the big Kesh ...Marrakesh ..3 party animals decided to venture into a land and culture so different from ours and the nearest country to the west side of southern Europe .Spain . Having been there before , it was good to have some worthy companions to go around with . August hot ! but not too hot to get out and about..3 days dotting about and staying @ the C T M hotel on the main square Jema El Fna .Slap bang in the tourist hotspot ,where all the action takes place .both day and evening / into the night . visited the souks where they sold silver , copper , leather , silk , and of course the magic ali baba flying carpets ans a whole lot more . perfumes wafting and scenting the air mixed with toxic motor bike fumes , spices , preserves of many bright colours .Sunsets making this low built city glow in the evening light . Stunning views across the plains and the snow capped atlas mountains in the distance . Few cities can rival this ancient capital that has survived almost intact, but its lost its title to Rabat . The new capital of Morocco .time moves on .....

“Must be experienced!”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Must be experienced!

Its like being at a dinner show! Snakes, monkeys, people and their wares....

Hawkers everywhere --- Just be assertive, and aware of your surroundings.

Stall 118 across from the famous and too-touristy stall 1 is delicious. Their tajina was the best I've tasted. Also order the sheep's tongue if you get a chance!

“Noisy and lively”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

If you manage to survive and not get run over by the motorbikes you are doing well. Avoided the snakes and the poor monkeys. Great place to soak up the atmosphere. We ate in one of the ''cafes" in the market. Quite disappointing as miniscule portions. We were told to avoid anything that was cold as their hygiene is not that great. Loads of stalls selling snails - no thank you! Stop off at one of the ginger tea stalls but if you see them dip a teaspoon I to clear liquid and don't want it turned into a eucalyptus drink do no! Very strong to say the least.

“The place to go at nights”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

This is truel filled with eastern promise. You will need to visit more than once as there is so much to see and hear and smell with the stalls cooking all kinds of street food but this is not the best place to eat.
Be warned,as soon as they see a camera, you will be approached for money also if you give to one beggar, you will be surrounded by 20 others
This is a must for every visitor to Marrakech

“Not so magical after a while”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

Fun and exciting at first but then the pestering begins. Take a picture of snake charmers, musicians, acrobats, etc and they will be in your face demanding money. 10-20 dirhams is normal but a snake guy demanded 300 and screamed at me for giving him 50. Ugly scene. Same with other entertainers--have a camera and you will be hounded plus the only video footage will be of a hand up to the lens asking for more. Food vendors are just as bad-take a photo of the guy selling sheep heads and brains or the orange juice carts and they ask more for the picture than their product. Yes, I walked away but often had to deal with these creeps following and shouting at me for several minutes.
