“crazy crowded fun!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

The square is teeming with people, snake charmers, belly dancers, food sellers, purveyors of every imaginable item, animals and MORE! Shoulder to shoulder crowds of lookers, sellers, beggars, etc. Exactly what you would expect and NOT to be missed! The center of all things Marrakech!

“Sensory Overload”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Shops, horse drawn carriages, bicycles, snake charmers, commerce, food sellers every evening. The sights, smells, the kaleidoscope of colour all collide in Jemaa el Fna. It feels like all of Marrakech meets here, probably because it does.

“Incredible”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Great to see all these colourful food stands at night... but when will these people learn that blocking the way and harrasing girls is the best way NOT to sell?
We were two girls and did not feel very relaxed in this atmosphere. Not unsafe, but uncomfortable!

“mind blowing”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

What an experience! Loved it all, the snake charmers, the monkeys, music, the market and open air food stalls, the horses and caleches etc etc.Magical at night with all the lanterns flickering . Of course you get hassled but just smile, say no thanks and walk on. The stall holders will make you laugh by shouting out "Asda price" or "Primark price" when they realize you are from the UK.

“Absolutely loved it!”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Had heard all sorts of warnings, but we absolutely loved it. Never felt anything but secure. We were drawn back to visiting it all the time during our stay, sometimes walking round and most times having a front row seat over a cup of mint tea. No hassle to leave from any of the cafes even when we had finished eating or after just a bottle of water. Quite different at night, but just as magical. Fewer snakes and monkeys apparently and certainly 'not in your face'. Loved the noise, food smells and freshly squeezed orange juice at 4 Dhs a glass. No hassle from anybody, just good humoured encouragement to buy. Every stall holder we met was polite and helpful even when we said 'non merci'. Wish I had discovered Marrakesh when I was younger! Really sad to leave. Pick your places to eat, all good, but prices do vary.
