You could spend a whole day just watching the world go by in the jemaa el Fna. We never felt threatened - though ALWAYS haggle price before touching anything or taking photos of people. The food here is delicious and safe. Just thinking about the orange juice is making my taste buds dance.

This is also where you can get a local tour guide (horse and carriage), though remember haggle the price before getting into the carriage.

Marakech is a family friendly destination - they seem to prefer families traveling together. We were treated very well by everyone we met and often people would go out of their way to make our daughter comfortable. Of course it was for a better price but when you are so far out of your element it's the little bits that make you feel at ease. Highly recommend a visit to Jemaa el Fna - you haven't seen Marrakeech unless you see Jemaa el Fna.

We may have gone the wrong time of day, but was expecting much more, there was the usual charmers, music etc, but somehow I expected more atmosphere, perhaps early morning or eveing would have been better

Jemaa el Fna is the big square in the medina of Marrakech. This is the place you must see. Here are the men talking to snakes, the women doing henna-tatoos, the men pretending they are dentists and everybody else

I love the Djma el Fna at night, get there before the sun goes down, go up to the Cafe de Paris (sounds posher than it is) and sit on the room with a cold drink and watch the stall holders set up for the night, the braziers going and the mad melee begin.....you can then venture down into the throng and try out the stall.....the Jame Oliver banter does get on your nerves but hey they are trying to attract your business......be friendly in Morocco and people will always be friendly back....I love the place!

This was tops on my bucket list for years and I finally got here! People of all ages, all countries, and financial means are hanging out in the square. I wasn't expecting so many tourists, it was great! I recommend going there at night though it closes up by 10-11:00PM. There is lovely singing and music, tons of great food stalls with picnic table seating, glittering lantern lights everywhere! Rooftop seating is available at many of the square surrounding restaurants. We loved the food and wished we could have stayed for weeks!
