Owner description: The Saadian Tombs are located just outside Marrakech and were constructed during the reign of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur in the late 16th century. This is the resting place of al-Mansur, his family, and other notable officials from that era. These tombs were discovered in 1917; restoration began shortly thereafter. Today, much of its original splendour has been restored.

“You need a guide for this.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

We were rushed so did not bother with a guide but would certainly have benefitted from having one. In spite of all the people there, it was a peaceful place and we were able to glean some information, but a guide and knowing the stories of some of the people buried there would definitely make it more worthwhile

the tombs are fantastic but as the guide books state get there early as the crowds cause bottlenecks and its make viewing the tombs difficult.

“Avoid if you dont want to be pestered and hassled!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013

The tombs are wonderful, architecture superb and lovely gardens. However there is only one way in and out and its crowded with touts and street sellers who can be very aggresive. This was my 4th visit to marrakech and this place was by far and away the worst place for being pestered and hassled. The veiled and gloved women trying to sell cheap bangles were the worst. They will not take NO or several no thank yous as any kind of answer and block your path, grab you by the arm and generally are an obnoxious bunch. They totally spoiled the visit for myself and my adult daughter.

“Interesting history, but not that visually impressive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

If you're into the dynastic history of Morocco, this may be an interesting stop for you, or if you have a guide for the day and it's included, then you may as well stop, but to be honest, it isn't all that worth seeking out on your own, unless you are up for a wander, out of things to do, and don't mind paying the ten dirham entrance fee.
