Owner description: The Saadian Tombs are located just outside Marrakech and were constructed during the reign of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur in the late 16th century. This is the resting place of al-Mansur, his family, and other notable officials from that era. These tombs were discovered in 1917; restoration began shortly thereafter. Today, much of its original splendour has been restored.

“Where are you???”

Several beautifully sculptured rooms with ornate capitals on columns, holding up beautifully decorated ceilings. Difficult finding it. It is tucked away in an area with several restaurants & souvenir shops. Their are no signs to direct you there. We finally walked into an ally and finally found it. We even asked locals, who were just a few feet away from it & they did not know. They need signs, including street signs, which they have very few.

Fairly bland place to visit. Basically a graveyard/mausoleum, but of historical interest. Pretty/detailed buildings but nothing that can't be admired in 20 minutes or so.

“Wonderful place to visit”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

We were asked if we wanted a guide and as the price was only 50 dirham we agreed. The gentleman, whose name I've forgotten, was very knowledgeable and spoke good English. We learned more than we could have done by doing the visit on our own.

“Peace & Tranquility”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

I went there with my husband, a wheelchair user.
Admission is 10 MAD each, but to our surprise, the attendant said there was no charge for my husband & returned 10 MAD.
The gardens are small, but well maintained with lovely flowers & tall palm tress for shade.
The tombs are sensitevly lit & the atmosphere is quite serene.
In our opinion, this not a 'must-see' & your experience of Marakech would not be poorer for not visiting, but it's a great place to go 'AGHHH' for a while & sit down.

“Worth the visit if you know the history.”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

A well-preserved example of the distant past of Marrakech that survived against the odds.
Nice tile work and architecture.
Only 10Dh to get in and a nice adventure to find the entrance!
