“Fabulous riad right in the heart of Marrakech life!”
Reviewed November 29, 2013

Beautiful riad in a fabulous location. Truly a haven from the hustle and bustle that is Marrakech! The staff very friendly and helpful and the whole riad was beautifully decorated in an exquisite blend of art deco and moroccan decor. Rooms were private and peaceful and ours (on the top terrace) had a fire which was appreciated in the colder November months.

Breakfast was good and changed every day which was fun - fresh fruit, pancakes and bread wi jam and cheese plus fresh juice and tea/ coffee. We found it a bit tricky to find but there are signs up on the arches/ walls nearby and people are generally helpful. Hammam was fantastic but massage nothing spectacular.

Pool and terraces are perfect, we imagine, for a hot day.

A perfect start to our trip!

This stay at Riad Malika was a bit of luxury for us at the end of our extensive Morocco travels and on the whole it did live up to our expectations. We stayed here for a couple of nights and really enjoyed the relaxed ambience, bold character and style of the riad and of course our deluxe suite with two en-suites! It was beautifully clean and, like many who stay here, we absolutely loved the decor and plush furnishings and colourful terraces covered in climbers. We made the most of the pool and pool-side lounge with lit fire too.

Sadly, for the first time in a Moroccan riad, we did experience some unprofessional conduct from some staff, one of which was truly inexcusable, and more leadership/management to whip things into shape could only benefit the riad. On the whole the positive things made up for the negative and then some. It was a memorable stay and one we'd warmly recommend.

Room Tip: Ear plugs are always useful when staying in the centre of Marrakech

This is the second time I have stayed here and I love it even more this time. Beautiful riad with stunning rooms and unique decoration. Excellent service. The integration of art deco/ mid-century modern furniture with traditional Moroccan building has a spectacular effect. Food was excellent and the welcome very warm.

Our first time in Marrakech and I specifically wanted to stay in a riad. I decided on the Malika based on the reviews on the internet.
(Interestingly it was cheaper to book via booking.com than direct.)
We were not disappointed....
The staff were helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble
The riad itself was an oasis of calm in the hustle of the city, wonderful eclectic decor with a small pool. Breakfast was varied with the option of having the evening meal there as well. We did this the 1st night but thereafter ate out - there are loads of restaurants.

It is located about 10 mins walk from the main sq and you had to walk through the souqs - perfect!!
I would strongly take up the option of the taxi from the airport and as you are walking down the alleyways wondering where he is leading you too -dont worry :-)
The 1st day walking back we got lost - even with a map but that just dded to the intrigue.

3 mins walk from the riad to the 1st set of shops is a tailor who ran me up 2 made to measure shirts for a very reasonable price, in 24 hours - his name is Bousta at no.83. Look up the walls in his shop and you will see all the other things he can make, trousers, tops etc

Have a good time .....

I have no hesitation in recommending this riad to visitors to Martrakech. It was exactly what we were looking for: central location, peaceful haven, comfortable room with a great terrace for relaxation. Very pleased that we chose the suite with its large bedroom and bathroom and the breakfast was pretty good too. The riad is well maintained and the service is very efficient. Breakfast was varied each morning which was most welcome as I despair of eating the same food each day in a hotel that one is staying in for a week.
I really can't see why anyone would prefer an international branded hotel over a riad with such colour and character. Of course there are always things that could be improved: a mini bar/fridge in the room, a telephone to order drinks (it is forbidden to bring food and drink into the hotel), more comfortable chairs in the suite rather than the 1970s polyester swivel chair and proper mixer taps rather than separate hot and cold taps in the shower which seems to offer two options - scolding hot or freezing cold.It would also be an idea to make it clearer to guests that cash is preferred over cards (and maybe offer a discount as is done in Turkey), that way guests could be more prepared with a better commission charge.
Despite these small gripes, I would warmly recommend the Riad Malika. You won't regret it!

This was our second time in Marrakech and we chose Riyadh Malika because of the reviews and a personal recommendation from a friend. We stayed in one of the suites. The room was lovely - large with two bathrooms, a lounge and a covered courtyard. The bedroom was good and sleep quality was excellent. The call to prayer at 5am each morning that woke us up was actually a feature rather than an inconvenience. The location of the Riyadh is very good and only 10 - 15 minutes walk from the main market. Even walking back late at night felt very safe. We ate twice in the evenings at the Riyadh and both nights the food quality was very good. The Riyadh has a homely feel to it and the two main guys who oversaw everything were friendly and accommodating. The quality of the breakfasts was a disappointment having read the reviews. Basically yoghurt, jam and a selection of breads. There was no hot option for the breakfast (although when we did ask for some eggs they did quite happily make us an omelette). We would recommend this Riyadh as good value for money

My wife and I stayed at Riad Malika for 1 week in the second week of September. The riad has a homely feel to it with the comforts of a hotel. We stayed in one of the standard double rooms as it was the only one available at the time, but this was by no means a 'box room'. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. A special thanks to Rashid who was very helpful with everything.
We had a meal on the first night of our arrival, it was delicious (it is obviously more expensive than eating at cafes or standard restaurant, but that is expected with any hotel).
One thing which worried me at the time of the booking was the location of the Riad and getting back to the riad late in the evening, but this turned out to be an unfounded concerns as even quite late on, the main street is busy with people and open shops.
The standard of the daily room cleaning was high and what you would expect in a well run hotel.
This is the only hotel i find myself missing, ever! This is due to the style, staff and the general ambience.
The breakfast is AMAZING, we looked forward to it every morning! It will set you up for a day of walking and sight seeing and it varies slightly from day to day.
The room we stayed in did not have a telephone but i cant recall needing it to 'call reception'

I could go on and on...but i wont...suffice to say we loved our stay in marrakesh and riad malika was a no small part of that.

I will point one thing, the sound of 'call to prayer' could be heard quite loudly early in the morning, this is expected, its muslim country and the riad is in the medina with lots of small local mosques, this said, the particular rendition we heard every morning, was the I worst ever heard (this is from someone who likes the call to prayer)...take some earplugs just in case
