For the fourth year, we have booked 3 rooms in Jnane Tamsna with the same very demanding friends. We were all in school together and as our wives get along this is our regular meeting. A great place for friends, family reunion or a romantic escape. The place exudes excellent taste and style. The food is fresh and delicious. The garden spectacular. The staff friendly and never obtrusive, nor obsequious. The property has so many places and corners to enjoy with a book from their excellent library or with home made cookies from the exquisite chef Baija and an organic herb tea freshly picked in front of you... As all guests were getting along -except a very unpleasant couple who obviously did not get at all what this place is about- the exquisite owner invited us all - the nice guests- for dinner in her beautiful house on the grounds. When she discovered that among the guests there was a very good pianist, she opened her house to him every day so he could play.. The whole place was filled with joy, happiness, and very stimulating dinner conversations.
What I love about this place is the fact that you never feel that you are in a hotel. It is like being hosted at friends whose country estate happens to be in Marrakech. The staff never says no and is most gracious. You can walk in the kitchen and speak to the chef, you can ask for a belly dancer to give you classes, for a henna artist to decorate your hands, for horse riding adventure, for cooking classes. As we had special interests in litterature and a writer friend of the owner was visiting town, she organised drinks around him and we enjoyed a short and fascinating reading from his latest book. I could go on and on about the pure bliss it was.. You can have full privacy but if you want to socialise, 9 times out of 10, the guests are the kind of people you love having a drink with.
I would definitely recommend this place to people who enjoy life without any social pressure, without need to show off their designer clothes and are at ease with themselves.
The only dowside during our stay was from this other couple obviously furious that every one was loving it and desperatly trying to ruin our holidays with their constant complaints. We have all booked our 5th stay there as we know they will never come back .

Where should I begin? The service is poor, the bathrooms a joke, the security non existant.
The water trickles down and it's cold! The breakfast is meager.

Will never recommend this to anyone.

The Jnane Tamsna was a pleasure to the senses. The pools, restaurant, breakfast and facilities were outstanding. I would recommend the Jnane to anyone. With no locks, you felt perfectly secure. Jack and Pam Ward

This was our third year at Jnane Tamsna. We find the staff welcoming and extremely helpful. The food is delicious
, it is simple and fresh and the kitchen would always prepare different food for the children if we wanted. All the vegetables are grown in the garden. the rooms are very comfortable and attractive. it's a beautiful, peaceful place. we are extremely shocked at some of the negative experiences had by some reviewers here. our trips to Jnane Tamsna have always been very special.

The hotel is an oasis from the bustle of Marrakech—close enough to drop in and out of the city proper, but removed enough you can relax. We stayed at Jnane Tamsna for two nights, and had two rooms and four in our party. The entire hotel is beautiful and well kept. We especially appreciated the extremely helpful and courteous staff-- they were wonderful at helping us plan our excursions and ensuring that we were comfortable. This was especially appreciated as we had been touring in the desert and arrived bedraggled. The staff immediately took our laundry (gratis!) and we luxuriated in the fabulous baths and showers. The pools and tennis courts, along with variety of gardens made for lovely evening and morning relaxation. I loved the sense of peace and security the hotel. We enjoyed the meal options at the hotel—as it was such a nice break from the aggressive restaurant hawkers in the rest of the city. I’ve noticed that other commentary on this site has complained about difficulty with taxi drivers. This is surprising as the hotel staff were very helpful in both lining up taxis for us and providing us with maps and detailed instructions for drivers. I recommend Jnane Tamsna for anyone and am planning on returning when I’m in Marrakech again.

We returned from Jnane Tamsna last night and I am still floating on cloud nine. My husband and I travel a lot and stay in lots of very expensive, very highly rated places. We both agreed that Jnane Tamsna was the most wonderful place that we had ever stayed in. The staff could not be more welcoming and friendly. Our room was the smallest at Jnane Tamsna as we booked last minute but could not have been more perfect. Comfortable, stylish, just the right size, leading on to a small courtyard. You don't feel like you are staying at a hotel here, it's like you're staying with friends. Breakfast is taken leisurely in a little courtyard, with delicous freshly squezed orange juice, croissants, eggs, toast, cereal. The property is heavenly, acres of mature, lush gardens. With 3 swimming pools and only 24 rooms, it feels like you have the place to yourself. The food was homecooked, homegrown and absolutely delicious. I defy anyone with a degree of sense not to fall in love with Jnane Tamsna, and continue to re-visit. Everyone who was staying there with us wholeheartedly agreed - it's heavenly!

This March I stayed at Jnane Tamsna for the third time. My wife and I keep coming back to this pleasant piece of paradise. Excellent rooms that are individually designed by the owner with many details taken from Marrakech architecture, and all locally crafted in the town. Cosy dining room with efficient service and a variety of cuisines, easily tailored to individual wishes. Breakfasts and lunches are served outside in the ecological garden that the co-owner, Gary Martin, created where fruit and vegetables (as well as the olive oil in the food) is grown for the maison. The evening living room is excellent with possibilities to mingle with other guests or sip some single malt Islay whiskey and read a book.

Definitely a highly recommended place to stay, and one where I hope to come again.
