“Must have been special place”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

Empty rooms, some amazing decor but practically no explanation of the usage and purpose. Apparently this used to be the largest religious school in North Africa - a Hogwarts of Morrocco? I could have used a guided tour, an audio guide or at least some signage.

“Must see in Marrakesh”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

This Koranic school, which closed in the sixties, once had 900 boys studying the Koran. It is an amazing building with lots of lovely architectural features and is certainly worth seeing

“Calm in the middle of clamour”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

Its difficult to find in the warren of streets but worth the effort. The courtyard with the rooms overlooking was a serene spot of calm in the middle of a busy city. It is difficult to image hundreds of boys being taught here.

Beautiful building, well worth a look. It is also a great photo opportunity as there are lovely internal windows.

“Beautiful and peaceful”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

It's a little difficult to find the Medersa but worth a visit. As tourists can't go into the mosques in Marrakech, this is the perfect place to experience the spiritual and cultural side of the area
