Bedrooms and main areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean.
Food was ok, all buffet and a little repetitive, décor in main restaurant a little dreary and more suited to a western inner city business hotel, resulting in no atmosphere. Coffee in the mornings was terrible and the occasional small birds in both restaurants were a little disconcerting.
The main bar got crowded and smoky after dinner and there was no real alternative; it would have been nice to have a smart external bar for those people who wanted to escape the stuffy, packed Zanzibar bar other than a few tables by the pool.
Facilities were more limited than expected, gym only available for 4 hours per day and the times changed 3 times during our 7 day stay, £10 charge for indoor pool was rather steep, main pool overcrowded between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., no archery even though advertised in brochures, Wi fi only available 2 out of 7 days, area around main pool rather small and crammed with sunbeds, which had been reserved since dawn. However there are 4 tennis courts, 1 badminton court and 2 table tennis tables.

The free bus service only runs at hourly intervals in the day, with the last bus at 16.45 and drops you in new town at least 30 mins walk from the old town and all the sites.

Overall pleasant, but only just 4 T.

We have just arrived back from Tikida Gardens, It is the place to be if you want to be in the heart of Marrakech! The hotel was nice and very clean, the staff were sooo helpful and very friendly. The day activities were good, however the evening entertainment needs some tweaking!! The food was a good mixture of choices which kept it interesting. The rooms although basic were quite spacious and were kept very clean, on that note I would like to say a big thankyou to my cleaner who was brilliant!!!! On a little bit of a down side the rooms could do with some update and some draws. Also the air conditioning was a bit weak especially in the Zanibar where the entertainment needs tweaking LOL! the air conditioning was non exsistant, also in the dining area hence a lot of uncomfortable sweating!!! However the manager from Riu was there at the time of our stay and was very interested in our opinions and is in the process of improving things and he was very helpful! This hotel is lovely the grounds are lovely and it will be even better with the changes that are coming soon. All in all a lovely relaxing stay!!!!!!

Out And About - One of the recommended trips out is The Souks, This is their market place and is ideal for shopping site seeing etc, HOWEVER you will be approached by traders persuading you to have a photo with a monkey or worse a snake! Be warned they do not treat the animals well and the snakes are fed with live chipmunks and guinea pigs etc that have been hidden out of sight. These animals have their BACK BROKEN!! so that they cannot escape and are left crawling around in agony until the snake is ready to feed on them!! PLEASE DO NOT have your photo done with snakes or monkeys they will probably just get thrown in the draw when you get home and lots of chipmunks etc will be in agony!! The trader can easily use wooden snakes they look real as I had one shoved in my face when I was there, and there are plenty of other things they can sell, you only have to walk round to see there are many other options. This is the one thing that is unacceptable!!! However the rest is an experiance!

The grounds are stunning - my son and I enjoyed wandering around the complex, seeing the different Cactus, palm and a host of other plants we don't ordinarily see. Staff were always staff around maintaining the gardens.

The reception staff were friendly, although I felt they could have provided us with a little information of the locale activities, since there was quite a bit (which we did discover).

The rooms were cleaned every day and it was always lovely returning to the room as any clothes left out were folded into pretty bows - jewellery the same; just lovely. The A/C worked brilliantly (in the 43 degree heat), thankfully. The only issue we had, as we were on the ground floor, was the noise from up above. We could hear heels on tiles and furniture being moved/dragged. A good sized bathroom with a shower in the bath, basin, toilet and bidet. The toiletries were renewed everyday.

The restaurants weren't bad at all. There was a good variety on the menu in both restaurants. The Moroccan restaurant was a nice, quiet change - the food was great, too!

A fab, fair-sized pool - always kept clean! Good idea to get a lounger earlier if possible as they occupy quickly. Although, there's also a lounging area set back from the pool on the lawn and also sun-bathing opportunities about the grounds. The "animation team" were friendly, but not pushy (much to my 12yr old son's relief). We saw water aerobics, water polo, table tennis and arabic-learning!

We frequented the bar only a couple of times for very short periods. Sadly, any quality "entertainment" was severely lacking...

We left impressed on the whole (mostly with the extremely friendly, efficient staff) and would, if in that part of the world, stay there again.

Hotel was spacious and had lovely surrounding gardens. Short transfer from the airport and able to have dinner on the first night despite a late landing. Rooms were perfectly adequate, even surprised there was a bath tub in the rooms. Having emailed a couple of reviewers, an iron and hairdryer proved useful. plenty of food available but gets repetative. Food was really bland and for vegetarians you will be sick of pasta, chips and bread. Drinks were plentiful. Sunbeds get booked early. woke up at 6.45am one morning and a number of beds were already claimed. Poolside entertainment was darts, water polo and boulles which was great fun. Entertainment team tried their best but it all became a bit repetative. Ended up creating our own in the pool and other guests all joined in! Zanzibar was too hot and there was a distinct lack of entertainment especially for kids from age range of 13 to 20. The dance floor only get packed on our last nite which was also a brief Moroccan night event. One of our group even left the DJ a CD with some decent dance music. The piano player needs to be retired - he is not what i would call an entertainer! Restuarant staff were too quick to collect plates - good generally but not when you havent actually finished eating. their constant presence does get a bit too much at times but it keeps the area clean. Good restuarant times which meant we didnt have to be up too early and could come to dinner late. We only went on the 1/2 day souk excursion as the kids wanted to buy some shisha pots. Took the taxi to the new town to venture around as shuttle bus not likley to accommodate all 12 of us. Rep was generally unavailable and surprised she didnt try to push more trips onto us. Bit nervous of roaming outside the hotel so dressed appropriately. Not sure we should have bothered. Tip - if walking around in the heat, take a small wet towel - great for keeping cool and avoiding burnt shoulders. Well worth it when visiting the souks which got hot and stuffy. Think we got caught in the moment in the pharmacy buying all the lotions and potions - will just have to see if they work! Won't say avoid this hotel - just be prepared. wouldn't visit a muslim country during Ramadam in future. Next year its in july so be warned.

My husband and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Tikida Gardens. We wanted a relaxing holiday and thats what we got!

The transfer was quick and were greated with a drink at the hotel reception. We were then shown where the restaurant was, being told that the chefs were expecting us and were still cooking.
Room:
Our room was spacious, clean and we were more than happy. There was a fridge, safe flat screen TV & hairdryer. The safe was free and very easy to use (my husband loved it!) The balcony was shady and very pretty. I could be really picky and say there was no drawers, a handle missing off one of the wardrobes and the shower wasn't brilliant... HOWEVER it didn't bother us & you don't spend a huge amount of time in the room anyway and they were issues that weren't worth bothering about.
Food:
I was really worried about this having read previous reviews. I have a delicate tummy shall we say and i always avoid eating any kind of meat when Im abroad, just usually sticking to the "English" dishes. The food was fab, plenty of choice & I feel something for everyone. The area was clean, and the food well presented and I ate far more at this hotel than I ever have done when holidaying abroad!
Breakfast was lovely, obviously theres no bacon but there is SO much more to choose from. 5/6 cereals, freshly made omelettes, pancakes, croissants and pastries. how could anyone complain!
Drinks:
Fanta, coke, diet coke & Sprite are available all day every day. Sometimes the pumps would run out... but the staff behind the bar would always have bottles of it available. The beer was nice and the staff were more than happy to make up cocktails.
Reception & staff:
We found them very friendly and helpful, the gardeners even helped me locate one of the many tortoises that are around the gardens. We changed up our money with no problems, and they even kick started the Wifi when it got a bit slow. Wifi is free at the hotel which is great, it is a bit touch and go with the best signal when you're in the reception. It did improve as the week went on, as i mentioned the staff would ask if the connection was good, re-starting it if it wasn't.

We didn't go on any excursions, choosing to go on the free shuttle bus from the hotel to the Souks. Be warned it is a good 20minute walk from where the bus drops you off, and you will be approached by locals wanting to be your guide! I think the price of some of the excursions were very high. We had a lovely cab driver back from the souks and I would've been more than happy for him to have driven us around to a few of the local places of interest had we discovered him sooner. I am a very nervous person and although this isn't always the best option, if you are lucky enough to find someone trusting then I'd say go for it.

We had a late flight and were able to keep our room on until we were collected by the coach. It worked out about £40 and i think you can pre-book this when you make your holiday booking at a slightly cheaper price.

The pool was lovely, the area around it and the gardens are kept very well, all clean & tidy. there are plenty of sunbeds however if you don't get up early and nab the ones near the pool you'll miss out.

The entertainment :
Hmmm Im hoping that now Riu have taken over this hotel that this will improve. The Zanzibar was where the entertainment took place in the evenings, it wasn't brilliant but then again we were after a relaxing holiday and would often be in bed before 10:30 so it didn't bother us. There was aqua aerobics or "water arabics" as the staff pronounced it, yoga, water polo, table tennis and French bowles on a daily basis. There wasn't a huge amount of young children at the hotel so Im not sure if there are any kids clubs on site.

There were alot of english at the hotel, all really chatty and friendly. Big *Hello* to Doreen, Charlie, Ray & Joyce :o)

There will always be bits of hotels/holidays that people won't be happy with.... where people become too picky and expect too much. This is a lovely hotel with beautiful gardens, helpful friendly staff, clean rooms and corridors. It is also a very reasonable price so a bonus all round in our eyes.We think it was great value for money and are booking to go back again next year with our 4 teenage girls!

I have just returned from a week at the Riu Tikida Garden and have to say that I was slightly nervous about the trip due to some of the reviews that I had read on here. I'm very glad I didn't let it stop me from booking.
When we arrived after a 25 minute transfer from the airport we were welcomed with a drink and friendly staff. We checked in quickly and easily and went straight to our room. Unfortunately our room had not been cleaned and prepared for us so we went down to dinner, telling a member of staff on the way. When we returned after dinner the room was ready and our bags were waiting in there for us with 2 bottles of water. The room was clean and tidy and air conditioning worked very well - we often turned it off but the cleaner always turned it back on for us the following day so it was nice and cool when we returned from the pool or excursion. The beds were comfortable and bathroom adequate - hairdryer and shower not fantastic but fine for what we needed.
The pool and surrounding areas were nice and well kept and there were always people working hard to keep it clean. Loads of sunloungers but the main ones around the pool were claimed very early in the morning!
The food was as you would expect for a basic all inclusive. We found something to eat every day and never went hungry. It was very repetitive - lunch was salad, pizza, bread, fish, chips, pasta and meat of some variety and dinner much the same with the addition of soup. You get to go to the authentic moroccan restaurant once during a week stay although they say you can often get in twice if they have space and I definitely recommend it - particularly the chicken - best chicken I have ever tasted!!! The lamb was pretty good too! The pool side restaurant was relaxed and the evening restaurant pretty relaxed too. You are not supposed to wear shorts to the moroccan restaurant though.
Overall, we had a fantastic week away and would definately return to the hotel if we ever went back to Marrakech. If you get the chance go on the camel caravan excursion - its a giggle and we also went on the 4x4 atlas mountain safari and the marrakech discovery. I would recommend the marrakech discovery although I think the 1/2 day Souks and Medina tour would have been enough and I wouldn't rush to do the Atlas mountain safari again. Also, it is very easy to exchange money at reception. It is commission free and a competitive exchange rate. There is also a cash machine in the reception area.
It was good value for money and wouldn't say to anyone don't go there - I would return!
