“Charming and traditional”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

This riad-hotel is supposed to be the first riad in Marrakech. The structure and architechture are traditional and typical of Marrakech, with a lot of woodwork, tiles and courtyards. In the rooms, all the doors are covered with leather, ours had a little balcony-terrace.
The staff was very friendly and attentive, always ready to help with any request or question. They suggested restaurants, atracctions, escorted us to nearby restaurants, provided transportation from Fes, and to the airport.
We had dinner at their restaurant the first night, it was very good and served in the lovely courtyard with live music and beautiful moroccan lighting. Breakfast was served in the same courtyard with the pool in the center, it was a buffet with traditional western and also moroccan items. Their pastry was made in house. There was a moroccan "pancake" station where you had your choice of fillings for the "pancakes" that were really good.
The best part was the cooking school course that I attended. The ladies(translator and "dada") were amazing and made it a great experience. I really liked our stay here. There are more luxurious hotels in Marrakech, but La Maison Arabe felt like a more personal and authentic Moroccan experience.

This hotel is just lovely, everything about it was just to our taste, the food home made the room was luxurious. We found the hotel easy to find just get on the bus no 19 and ask the driver and he will drop you off about 5-7min walk from the hotel. They also have a shop on the street which the lady was very helpful and called the hotel for someone to take our luggage. The staff very helpful anything you need. There is a Country Club what a fabulous place, the shuttle takes you there for free and bring you back, food and drinks are available there.Taxi from hotel should be about 20dhs to the square, always agree a price before you take the taxi. Forgot about the spa you must try the Hammam it an experience, we just went to see and asked on the day we arrived if we could book anything that moment and they obliged us with a wonderful relaxing 2 hours of scrub, massage and steam room this not too be missed wonderful.

Room Tip: There is a lift but some rooms have stairs to go down to the main bedroom.

We were staying at this hotel as part of a package which included a couple days with a driver and guide visiting the sites of Marrakech including the medina, kasbah, souks, Atlas mountains and a berber family's home. We were really delighted by everything at La Maison Arabe. The staff were lovely and very helpful. When we entered our room there were rose petals everywhere and our room was attached to a very pleasant courtyard. The highlights for us however were the evenings. We first went each evening to the Jazz Bar, which is beautifully decorated, before dining outside the around the pool. This is a very romantic spot lit entirely with candles and beautiful Moroccon lights. The food and service was absolutely first class to the point where this was the only place that we wanted to be each night. An excellent buffet breakfast is also served in this area each morning. We give them our highest recommendation!

Room Tip: As others have said, there are quite a number of stairs to negotiate so it would not be suitable for...

Made a reservation for Saturday evening while being in Marrakech with my wife and were pleasantly surprised to find a quiet and peaceful restaurant (at the pool) in the middle of noise Marrakech. Meals were very good and the service exceptional. We were also surprised by a very good Morrocan white wine, a Chardonnay from the Atlas region.

La Maison Arabe was a bit difficult to find, but worth the search. Our room was up many stairs, but hade two private patiios, a sitting roo as well as a large bedroom. Furnishes were beautiful. Breakfast was excellent and staff extrememly helpfull. The hotel is in walking distance of many imprtant sites. Therre is a large swimmimg pool wit courtesy service about 15 minutes from the hotel. Meal were all superior and lunch is available at the pool.

I see that there are over 600 excellent reviews. What could I possibly have to add? But I feel
compelled to write something because I love this place so much. It is the perfect melding of
riad and hotel. Most riads are very small and don't have hotel services such as front desk,
24-hour concierge, laundry, A/C, TV, Pool(s) spa, housekeeping, etc. As far as I know there are
only seven full riad/hotels in Marrakech and La Maison Arabe is perfection.

I was first there for a "milestone" birthday celebration, with 25 friends, in 2011. The way the
staff handled that situation was the equal of any great 7-star large hotel. But this time, I was
by myself and was there for almost a month. The staff was flawless and the experience
was supremely professional and yet, friendly and caring.

Knowing all the rooms, 26 in all, I would say that a few are, indeed, very small but they have
very large private courtyards. If stairs are an issue, I would suggest one of the rooms in the
newest wing. There are still eight to ten steps to negotiate from the lobby but there is an
elevator which goes from the top floor down to the restaurant and lower to the spa.
If one has no ability to use stairs, this hotel will not work. But for everyone else, it's the ONLY
place to be. I also recommend that people traveling with small children, go elsewhere where
there are more activities for them. La Maison Arabe is for older people; aged 13 and up.
And peace and quiet is one of the great features prized by guests. Well.....There ARE the
calls to prayer that come as early as 3:30 AM and are easily heard from some of the rooms.
I like that sound; but in the interest of full disclosure, it is a fact of life in Muslim countries.

I think, beyond the Moroccan charm, high level of taste and efficiency of staff, there is an ineffable feeling of being cared for as a member of an extended family. I had a bad cold while
there and I was treated to all manner of local "potions" and remedies that worked very well.

I wish I could name everyone who is worthy of high praise; but they ALL are. There is the
manager, Nabila, who is a rare treasure. She knows what you need before you do. At the
desk, Adil, Mustafa, Mourad and the others are so kind. The restaurant staff is always eager
to ensure one has a fine dining experience. The housekeeping staff couldn't be more effective.

A word about the "Country Club". This is a lovely garden with a huge refreshing pool and a
place for luncheon al fresco. It's about a 15 minute drive from the hotel and a free shuttle goes back and forth on the hour. It's a most charming place full service pool and luncheon and if
one is lucky, there are three kittens and one adult cat who will come to share lunch with you.
They are extremely lovable and attractive.

A couple of practical caveats: As to guides, if you want one, be sure to arrange it with Nabila
or someone at the desk. Do NOT let someone approach you in the square or on the street
to offer guide services. This is most important.

I was rather surprised to see the way more than a few of the women were dressed. I am
referring to short shorts and spare tops worn by women in their late teens to full middle age.
The ignorance of some people is mind boggling. I am not mindful of Muslim sensibilities in
my country or in Western Europe but when visiting a Muslim country, one is a guest in THEIR
home and a much more conservative manner of dress is a must. Oh, I'm not saying that one
has to wear an Abaya or a Chador but short shorts, and minimal tops are an affront.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely. The newer rooms, over looking the pool are in various shades of biege, r...

La Maison Arabe is tucked away down a side street, about a 10 minute walk from the Medina. The decor throughout is traditional and in keeping with the stunning building. It has a lovely bar, 2 great restaurants and the nicest staff you could wish to meet. We stayed for 2 nights and didn;t want to leave. The added bonus is the country club about 15 minutes away (free shuttle) where there are beautiful gardens, a great pool and lunch restaurant.
