We went for a short break to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
As expected from 5 star chain hotel, the first impression was very good. We were upgraded to deluxe room, tired from our journey, we checked in but found the following day to our disappointment the view from our balcony to be a horror as the room was directly in front the junk storage etc. and lacked natural light.
On bringing this to the attention of the reception desk, the staff immediately called the front office manager, Mr Abderrahmane Benmansour who apologised profusely and moved us to another room immediately and kindly offered us free dinner and spa treatment for my wife as gesture of goodwill. He was very helpful and dealt with the matter quickly and professionally which made our stay in Sofitel very very pleasant and would most definitely revisit the hotel in the future and recommend to our friend and family.
We also found the guest relation, Sarra Mouj to be very friendly and helpful in this matter and she kindly invited us to a cocktail evening in the hotel that evening. We throughly enjoyed ourselves as the atmosphere was very pleasant.
The breakfast was very good and there were lots of selection and the staff was very friendly and helpful in particular FATIMA who is definitely an asset for any organisation. Her colleagues Hichom, Rochida, Ab Rehim, iBrahim and iLham were also helpful.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a pool view.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel like royalty.. We were welcomed with warm smiles and the custom morrocan mint tea followed by complimentary macaroons. To me, first impressions are lasting impressions, and this was certainly the case with our short stay at the Sofitel lounge & spa. For myself, the highlight of our stay in Marrakech was most definately the hotel and the exceptional service of one staff member in particular, Fatima. Fatima served us for breakfast on two occasions, and I cannot commend her enough! She was just brilliant, so kind hearted and warm natured, she made us feel as if we were a member of her own family. My sister was ill on the very first morning of our stay, so was unable to make it for breakfast. Knowing this, Fatima kindly packed a selection of pastries and cakes in a box for us to take to her. Not only that, she made a soothing milk drink with a blend of special herbs and spices to help aid her upset stomach. Fatima is definately an asset to the hotel and she made our stay very pleasant.
With regards to the pool area, it had a very relaxing ambiance. Would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family!

We were overnight prior to the end of our tour. A lovely hotel, oozes quality from the first moment. We had a lovely room overlooking the pool/lounging area. Pity about the building work which would have marred a longer stay because the sound echoed in the room. We had breakfast and lunch, both very good, although lunch portions were far too large. This seems to be the way in Morocco where food just keeps on coming! Would definitely recommend for a longer stay as a base to see Marakkech but see also my review of La Maison Arabe as a more traditional alternative. It's all a matter of taste.

Room Tip: Check that building work has finished before choosing your room.

I had read mixed reviews on this hotel and decided to book a week, I think I was blinded by the brand!
It is a lovely hotel on first impression, but is let down on many levels.
We were transferred from the airport and the representative organised the check in which went smoothly as we drank the customary Moroccan tea.
Disappointed in the room, expected more. The beds were so comfortable, that was the best bit.
Seperate toilet was so small, shower average. Carpet was rather grubby.
The service was mixed, concierge was poor, lots of staff but they didn't seem to be doing very much. Breakfast was nice enough, a bit chaotic, the staff are very quick to clear tables but not so hot on customer service. Water for tea is lukewarm and the coffee was average.
The restaurant was extortionate,Dinner for two, two courses, a half bottle of wine and a bottle of water £100!!!
During our stay there was building works going on which was noisy most of the day. No explanation or apology for the inconvenience.
I did not use the spa, charge for the pool and steam room was 2500 dirhams, ridiculous considering this is almost always complimentary in any other hotel I have stayed.
If you are visiting the Sofitel, brush up on your French and prepare to spend!

we arrived at 2:30pm and were asked to wait until 3pm. Fair enough, we went to the pool side restaurant, service was horribly slow. We got our room at 3:30, it was not worth the wait, small and overlooking the highway. Lots of cars buzzing by late or rather early into the morning.
The complimentary internet was bad, breaking up and loosing connection all the time. I could only get wifi connection in the toilet!
We ordered room service for 6:30am, it came close to 7am.
Guess what, I am definitely not going to stay there again!

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

Great restaurant. Salah and Abdessadeq where are waiters and they are some of the nicest staff that you could ask for. Very good as we didn't have a booking and they helped us straight away and they attended to everything that we asked for. Great food, had starters, mains, and a bottle of wine for around £80. will definitely go back again.

Absolutely fantastic, it is our first night tonight and everyone is so friendly, really helpful and kind. The hotel is gorgeous with well maintained grounds and two pools, rooms are spacious and stunning!! We are staying in a ground floor room with access to our own terrace and the gardens including ponds- great location, so happy we picked this hotel. The only downside I could say would be the prices by the pool for food and drink - 150 dirum for a mojito which is around £13 and it's only a small glass, starters begin at this price too for a selection of small Moroccan salads. Overall we are so happy with the hotel location and overall but are unlikely to eat/drink by the pool again due to the high prices (but I guess it should be expected at a Sofitel/similar hotel) apart from that I could not recommend this hotel enough it is absolutely stunning and the staff are brilliant
