“Gramta Villa - excellent”

10 of us stayed at this place for a 50th birthday celebrating weekend away. We guys all had a great time. It's 10 mins for the airport, and 10 mins from the old town or new town, so location is perfect. Gramta house is on a main road but this villa is well placed that you can hear any traffic.

The place is very spacious, with 7 large rooms, some with double beds. All 10 of us had a bed each, but we could have fitted another 5 if we shared beds.
We had a maid (Jamila) who was there from around 9 till late, she cooked, cleaned and just keep the place tidy. She was a happy lady who could t do enough for us. We also had a care taker for the property (Ridwan), he was great, making sure we could get in contact with the main contact who we rented from, opening the main door at silly hours of the morning. Both these two couldn't speak much english, but one of us could speak a little French which helped us to get things done. Our main english speaking contact was Majid he was in and out of the property, but would take us to places when he could.

The first day Majid took is to Carrafor, we stocked up around £250 worth of food, water, drinks etc which lasted the 4 days we spent there. On the first night we asked for a Tagine, which arrived a little late but well worth it, we paid 600 dirhams, about £50 but it fed all 10 of us well. The remainder of the nights we ate out. One night we went to the big square. The restaurant in the square was expensive compared to what we paid for the Tagine at the villa, they had live music but the quality of the food was poor, we paid 1800 dirhams.

On the third day we stocked up chicken and fish and had a BBQ, we made our own marinade, but Ridwan and Jamila cooked the food on the BBQ, we all loved it and so did they.

Back to the villa, nice place but needs some attention, one of the rooms did not have any A/C, at this time of the year it would have been nice, one rooms door handle was broken, and the basement shower was full of bugs. The cleaner did clean it, but they returned the next day.

The fridge door would not shut, so food wouldn't cool down enough.

Overall, very nice place and would recommend it for a short trip even with two or three families.

“Looks Can Be Deceiving”

After reading reviews and viewing the website pictures of the house we were excited to get to Marrakech. We traveled with young children on three connecting flights, so we were anxious to get to the house after deplaning. However, no one was there to pick us up. We waited for about 45 minutes and then Ellel (the houseman) shows up and puts Abdul on the phone. He proceeds to tell us that he's going to be late picking us up. So, we wait for the pickup for at least another half hour.

We get to the house and it appears absolutely beautiful. The gardens are much more mature than what's pictured on the website, almost to the point of being overgrown. The beautiful water fountain was on and that would be the first and last time we'd see it. We are ushered to our room which has two large beds, ensuite bathroom and a private balcony. On first look, everything is nice then you start noticing things...stains on the comforters, dust on furniture, dirt in the bathtub, etc. I believe the rooms are cleaned after the last guest leaves and not again until after the new guest arrives. We inquired about getting a clean comforter and Ellel switched the comforter with one from another room. The house was really, really dusty and caused us to have an allergic reaction, not good on the first day of vacation. Since we were already here, we decided to make the most of it.

The bathroom needs serious work. There are water stains and peeling paint on the ceiling. The bathtub has been caulked and recaulked numerous times and sloppily at that. There's even dried caulk stuck in the jacuzzi tub. I don't know who in their right mind would take a bath in such a place, in the condition it's in. Bring your own towels and washcloths because there are none, in fact there are no pillows on the beds besides decorative ones that don't get washed. The sheets are nothing to be desired as well.

We asked to be taken to the grocery store to pick up a few things. Abdul obliged with this request. We came back and settled in for the night. The next morning we awoke to multiple mosquito bites all over our bodies. I had 12 just on my arms! Our poor son received one over his eye which made it swell shut. Luckily we brought bug repellent and doused ourselves from that night on. We were in contact with the owner and he blamed the mosquito issue on the neighbors.

Our daily breakfast consisted on coffee, tea, juice, bread, scrambled eggs. It's not much but it was appreciated. There was transportation arranged for us and it was quite expensive, but what other alternative do you have if you're not familiar with the area. If you do arrange for transportation with Abdul, please be wary that he may try to get extra money at the last minute if you require a receipt. Shady.

The back yard does not look like the pictures either. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be water slide or ditch but it wasn't there when we arrived. There is a pool and the water is COLD! Quite refreshing on the very hot days. However, the pool had not been cleaned prior to our arrival and had algae growing on the pool sides and a layer of scum on the top. We contacted the owner and the next day, someone was scrubbing the walls and refilling the pool. This was a great thing, however we missed out on using the pool for an entire day.

All in all this has the potential to be a beautiful house but I think the owner is unaware of some things that are going on here. No key was provided to the outer door of the house so we had to wait for a while for someone to open the door for us several times. Another couple that stayed at the house rented a car. When they tried to park the car inside of the gates one of the hydraulic arms came off the hinges of what he thought was an automatic opener, however it was totally manual. The wifi is sporadic and went totally out several times during our stay.

The house isn't horrible but I believe that you could get better for your money
