“Remarkable Riad!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

Arriving in Marrakech for the first time is a strange and wonderful experience but with Nick and his colleagues at Riad Africa there to provide the welcome, you immediately feel at ease. The hotel itself is down a back street or two off the beaten path but very near the heart of the old city. Within its courtyard, there is a sense of calm with a relaxing atmosphere and staff who look after you very well. And if you get the opportunity, please sample the food - it's fantastic! Nick also arranged an excellent itinerary for us to go up into the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas Mountains with a guide and driver who were world class. We felt like missing old friends when we parted several days later. We had a five-star experience at Riad Africa - we're sure you will too!

A peaceful oasis in the middle of the color and excitement that is Marrakech Riad Africa was a great accommodation choice. Radoun is an excellent host and goes out of his way to ensure the comfort of his visitors. All staff were absolutely delightful as is the Riad which is cool, comfortable and quite luxurious with an authentic Moroccan flare. Just beautiful.

Highly recommended place to stay. Great quiet location. Great staff. Good value. Riad is located in southern part of Marrakech close to Palais El Badi. Djema El Fna is within walking distance. Riad is a little difficult to find off main road (Rue Zitoun el Kadim) and it is best to arrive during day if first time. Staff were very friendly, attentive, and helpful, particularly Redouan. Breakfast and dinner at hotel were good. Riad is well kept although there are some minor things in room that would help such as a little more room lighting, towel hooks in bathroom, and soap stations in shower. None of these take away from the Riad as a wonderful place to stay.

We have just returned from 5 nights at the Riad Africa in Marrakech. From the minute we arrived the Riad has more than exceeded our expectations. As soon as you step through the door you are transported into a world of tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle of the streets of Marrakech. The lovely pool in the court yard with beautiful lounge music playing in the background is a great place to relax and cool down after a day out. The rooms are clean, spacious and beautifully decorated in traditional moroccan style whilst still having all mod cons. The one thing that does make this Riad stand out though is the staff especially Tod who really made us feel at home and couldn't have been more helpful.

Travelling in a group of four, we had booked two twin rooms directly with the hotel and were not disappointed by Riad Africa. I had also pre-booked an airport transfer and on arrival in Marrakech we were met by Redouen who assisted with our bags and led us to the Riad, which was located in a laneway off one of the main streets leading to Jemaa el-Fna. It certainly would have been difficult to find without a guide the first time. We were warmly welcomed to Riad Africa, and served mint tea while our rooms were being finished. We had arrived on an early flight and were grateful to be allowed to check into our rooms earlier than expected.
The rooms are centred around a courtyard with a gorgeous small pool in the centre. Our two rooms, the Limpopo Standard room and the Bwindi superior room were located next to each other on the ground floor. Bath robes and slippers were provided, and the rooms are furnished beautifully. Finally realising C wasn’t for cold but for Chaud- French for hot, I always had a hot shower! The bathrooms are of a high quality and the rooms have everything that you would need.
The location is perfect, with only a short walk to major attractions, the main square and shopping and taxis.
We ate breakfast on the roof terrace, which was kindly served earlier than normal to accommodate tours that we were taking. We met several different staff during our three day stay, Tod, Mohammed and Redouen. They were all more than happy to help and provided excellent service. It was relaxing to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine after a day of walking around the souks and a day trip to the Atlas mountains. We felt welcomed, safe, and had a great experience. Riad Africa is a lovely place to stay, is well located and was a reasonable price.

After three days trekking in the High Atlas, my two colleagues and I were looking forward to a well earned rest in Marakech, (In retrospect Marakech itself and the word "rest" are probably not entirely compatible!). After leaving our mini bus transfer we were led down a couple of winding streets until we arrived at a very ordinary looking door. Upon entering we were met with a haven of tranquility that couldn't have been more different than the mele of traffic on the way in.
Mohammed (the resident "do everything" guy) met us with a helpful and freindly smile and this seemed to be his default setting. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he made every effort to make us feel welcome. Our room was beautifully appointed with a 4 poster which I nabbed and an adjacent twin room. The bathroom was lovely and the place was well equipped (TV, i-pod dock, sockets etc.). The rooms were centred around an airy central atrium with a small plunge pool and adjacent lounge area complete with an abundance of sofas, TV and stereo. Here, you may bump into Todd, an American gentleman whos life appears to be far more colourful than my own average life as a Firefighter in the UK. Todd will happily serve as the West meets Africa interface, a sort of human "rough guide" if you will.
We only breakfasted at Riad Africa but it was delicious and I have no doubt any other meals would be of the same standard. I would recommend this place in a heart beat, well situated, clean, friendly and above all calm. I won't say too much about Marakech itself but to have visited Morrocco without visiting Marakech would be an oppurtunity squandered.

First of all I would like to thank Nick from Specialist Morocco for arranging our first experience of Marrakech which was amazing. We stayed for 3 nights in Riad Africa and my husband and I can find no negatives at all . Peter, Todd, and the rest of the staff could not do enough for us and really made us feel very welcomed. Nick, you should be very proud of them, and your Riad is in very good hands.

The Riad was in an ideal location close to all the attractions of Marrakech but also away from it all.

We spent the next 4 nights in the Atlas Mountains in Kasbah Tamadot which was a complete contrast to Marrakech.

We both feel that this is holiday is definitely up with the best that we have had.
