I visited Morocco a few years ago with my friends (adults-females) about 3 years ago and we had an amazing time with Addir. Promised myself to go back to celebrate my son's birthday and definitely did. Addir and his team did an AMAZING celebration at the desert for him with fireworks and everything. I am super thankful to his team. Just came back with our kids and had the pleasure to travel with Abraham. He was AMAZING as well. He was super great with the kids. MY SON LOVED HIM. He didn't even want to be with me during the trip. I loved how great Abraham was with all the kids and helpful to us mamies when super tired from running behind them (our kids are ages 1 to 3). I would absolutely recommend this agency and I can not wait to gain new exciting experiences with them. Love you guys... Yaz
We booked a 3D2N tour from Marrakech to Fes. The booking process was very smooth. Tiffany provided lots of information and responded promptly.
Our driver-guide, Mohammad was always punctual and accommodating. He is happy to answer your questions. You can ask him about life in Morocco’s past and present. He brought us to the local market in his hometown to buy some almonds from Dades valley! It was date season and he gave us a box of dates as a gift, such a nice gesture!
Highlights:
The desert camp was amazing. Our first camel ride was bumpy but quite an experience. The food was scrumptious and presented beautifully. There’s even tagine eggs for breakfast.
Tip: it gets quite cold in October. Especially at night.
At first I wasn’t sure if we should spend the time to go to the Sahara. It seemed like it might just be an instagram adventure where the actual enjoyment of the trip is far less than what the pictures make it seem. I’m so glad I was wrong! Marvelous Morocco’s Sahara trip with Hassan Bahddou as our guide truly made our trip to Morocco! If you have the time I highly recommend it. It’s absolutely amazing to get away from the big cities, see the country, and get a more holistic view of Morocco.
Specific thoughts on our tour:
- Marvelous Morocco is a fantastic company. Tiffany was easy to communicate with, prices are fair, and everything went exactly as planned/requested. Majestic Camp / Marvelous Morocco is a family run business. You meet all of the family and they’re actually working the business day to day which made me feel much better about our costs. Do not hesitate to book with them.
- Hassan was a great guide. He was knowledgable about the area (basically the whole country as we went from Marrakech > Sahara > Fez) and was flexible with the daily plan. He was always helpful, polite and friendly while also not over “touring” our days. It often felt like he was a friend along for our trip.
- Trip/Tourist Stops: Given the limited yet massive tour industry in Morocco it is inevitable that you will feel like you’re on the tourist circuit. That said many of the sights/destinations were quite nice. Things we thought would be awkward (ie Berber Nomad camp visit, cobalt mine visit) actually turned out to be quite interesting and relaxing. This may not always be the case, but I’d say be open minded, bring tips and remember you’re helping the local economy. At the end of the day I thought all of the stops made sense. In hindsight I would have requested time to hike around more oasis / valleys / the Atlas Mountains (my husband and I love nature and adventure activities). This might have required another day but would have been well worth it. The country is beautiful. I also would have added time to rock climb in Dades Gorge.
- Cost: I compared various tour companies and Marvelous Morocco was the best mid range option. Reality is our Sahara camp actually felt like a luxury camp so I think we got more than our money’s worth.
- Majestic Sahara Camp: On the point of the Sahara camp we stayed at Majestic camp. It was perfect. The food is decent, the rooms are exactly what you would hope for, and the staff (and manager Hassan who speaks at least 4 languages!) was fantastic.
- Highlights/Must Dos:
4x4 ride across the dunes: Don’t do a camel ride both ways from camp. If you are up for an adrenaline rush have Hassan or his brother take you back from camp in a highlander. It’s like a roller coaster ride.
ATVs at sunset: Was a ton of fun and the guides were great.
Walk in Dades Gorge Valley: It’s hidden and not on the tour but if you ask your guide you can adventure down into the local gardens. It’s what I imagine the garden of eden would be like. Not to be missed.
2 nights at Sahara camp: on the three night tour you still only stay one night at the Sahara camp. We requested to stay two and not do the night in merzoug nearby. Definitely a smart move. Was nice to not have to move our stuff but also we got more of an opportunity to relax into our luxury tent and the incredible scenery of the dunes.
All in all I would say if you’re considering booking a Sahara trip definitely do it with Marvelous Morocco and Hassan.
Had a great trip with Marvelous Morocco. They give you what they advertise. It’s can feel a bit like your on the tourist train at times but that’s hard to avoid. I really enjoyed the Sarah camping with Majestic Camp. The tents we’re very clean and high end. Nice showers and good food. We added the ATV rides which was a lot of fun! Camel ride is fine for a picture but one ride is enough. Sand boarding is just a snow board with no boots, I took one run down the dune and then gave it back to avoid any busted ankles.
Besides that our guide Hassan Bahddou was great. Very chill guy with plenty of information a long the way.
We did extensive research to find the perfect desert tour for us, and we are so glad we chose Marvelous Morocco! We did the 3 day/2 night Marrakesh to Fez your with our amazing guide, Moha.
He took us to amazing places to eat where the locals eat, just as we wished. We got to visit with some Berber ladies who made hand-made carpets and showed us how it was done. We got to enjoy mint tea with them and visit. We got to meet got to visit a local shop where we tried on authentic Moroccan clothing and take pictures. We stayed in a lovely hotel in Dades Gorge for the first night and then rode a camel the second night into the sunset to our luxury camp.
We had authentic tangine dinner and breakfast, and listened to Berber drums and singing. We had the pleasure of Moha joining in the activities at camp.
Moha is very passionate about his culture. He is so giving and caring to all the People and children of Morocco. It truly warmed our heart to witness such kindness. I can go on and on about this amazing adventure we had!
This was most memorable 3D2N that we had in our 2 weeks travels around Morocco, where we went with Marvelous Morocco Tours and travelled from Marrakech to Sahara before heading to Fes. We took the luxury package and it was comfort and deluxe all the way! We were picked up punctually from our riad in Marrakech. The route towards dades valley via ouarzazate was really scenic. We stopped by Ait Benhaddou for a local lunch and a walk around the kashbah and what remains as ruins, before heading to dades valley for a night. Our only disappointment was being put up for the evening in ksar sultan dades instead of xuluca dades , as the latter looks a lot better in pictures with more options in facilities and meal offering.
We continued our journey towards Sahara the next morning via tineghir and had a beautiful panoromic view of dades valley (remember the monkey fingers!) . We did a mini detour to see dades gorge and it was a great decision because the sight was just breathtaking. After 4 hours of drive and a pit stop for another Moroccan lunch, we arrived at amazing Sahara, where we rode the camels to the campsite and enjoyed sunset. We ended the night with a sumptious dinner and cozied up around the campfire watching the blanket of stars hanging above us. Such a beautiful experience it was ❤️
Special mention and thanks to our guide and driver, Mohamed, who was so patient with us! Allowing us to travel at our pace and giving us time to explore the places we wanted to go, yet kept track of the schedule to ensure we arrive at each destination on time. He also went the extra mile and shared his knowledge abt each places that we went to, and brought us to places to buy wines and dates. Appreciate his great care in keeping us safe and looking out for us throughout the trip.
Will strongly recommend marvelous Morocco Tours to anyone making a trip in this lovely country!
