During in our stay in Marrakech, we went to Le Studio twice. The first time, everything was just perfect. A truly French atmosphere, excellent welcome, superb food. The owner's mother, feeling like everybody's darling, walked up to us and shared the story of her life with us. Steve, the restaurant manager explained the subtle details of the menu to us, and we went back to our Riad in the Medina perfectly happy. Since we had tried out a different restaurant every evening of our seven day stay, we wanted to go back to our "favorite" place on the last evening. The choice among L'annexe, Chez Mado and Le Studio was not easy. The other places, L'Ultimo Baccio, Le Jardin and our Riad clearly lacked behind in that order. An attempt to eat dinner at The Loft failed greatly due to a number of reasons that you will find in our review of that restaurant. Le Studio made it, mainly because of the food, but also because of the lively "Club" atmosphere. The second time at Le Studio, however, did not have anything to do with our first visit. The starters lacked seasoning and were all "boring". The main courses were ok but by far not as exquisite as expected. The dessert, however, made up for all of it and was just to die for. The wonderful mother of the owner also changed, when we were not enthusiastic about the starters and her friendly, though firm comment was that we did not know what we were talking about. The service was inattentive and not up to the standard of that restaurant. Most surprising, when our glasses were empty, we were not asked whether we would like anything else, but presented with the bill. Don't forget to bring cash, since even though we live in the 21st century, credit cards are not accepted. Our opinion: toss a coin, you may be lucky and have a wonderful or just an average experience. In case of the latter, however, this is probably a lot better than many other places in Marrakech.
