Riad Hannah City Hotel

The Riad is not in the greatest location as you do have to walk through an alley to access it. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the manager Khalid and Skildachi. They are very good about transporting you to and from the airport and showing you how to get around. This is in no way a luxurious place to stay but once you get to the Riad Hannah you will find it to be a safe and friendly environment. They provide very tasty tea whenever you would like it, they also provide a decent breakfast which is included with your stay. The hotel dinner is 120 MAD per night (about $15) and it is decent for the price. There is also a nightly tax of 50 MAD which is due upon arrival. I suggest prepaying so that your reservations are guaranteed. You can walk to the main square in about 15 minutes, the surroundings of the hotel are well known so people can direct you back here if you get lost. You are completely mixed with the locals so if you want isolation don't stay here. Smoking is allowed so be prepared for that. Overall I was looking for a safe, cheap, way to stay in Morocco and that's exactly what I got at the Riad Hannah.

Staff sleep on the sofa's, on the kitchen floors, nothing gets cleaned, the only protection from the weather is a plastic sheet and it does very little, our room floor was flooded, this whole place was manky, in need of a deep clean, the bed sheets were clearly not washed prior to arrival, we were checked in, after we paid we were thrown a key and pointed towards a door, the room was shocking and i didn't feel safe eating the breakfast, i dared not plug my laptop and mobile in for charging as the sockets were hanging off of the walls, the batch had dirt stains around it and i had to go out by bleach then clean it myself before using, chose a different Riad, this one is no good.

Room Tip: Don't chose any room

This riad is disgusting, the rooms are mouldy with filthy bed covers and there were flies covering the bathroom. It does not have most of the facilities specified, the air conditioning and wifi were broken when we stayed. The staff are rude and ignored us, told us nothing about the included breakfast and had no idea now long we had even booked for. I would certainly not recommend this place.

This hotel was disgusting, smelly, dirty, mouldy with sneaky uncaring staff who didn’t provide any of the services we had paid for. The room was so damp and mouldy we couldn’t sleep, we had to keep the old noisy air conditioner on all night just to try and refresh the room. I have backpacked and camped around the world and this is the worst place I have stayed. The shower was thick with mould and so unhygienic we couldn’t use it. There was toilet paper used to block holes in the ceiling. The description on line when we booked was all lies. The staff were rude and sneaky as the city tax amount they charged was more than neighbouring hotels. We had to leave at 9am on a trip and although they told us there would be breakfast available before that (as breakfast was supposedly included in the price) there was nothing and we had to go on a 6 hour coach ride without eating until the service stations. We had paid for breakfast but it wasn’t served until late. The sleeping security man said help ourselves so we went into the kitchen to try and find something basic, juice, bread and cheese etc what we found instead were cockroaches, lots of them and the dirty dishes in the sink were full of old cigarette ends! We checked the fridge but the smell was awful and we could find nothing to eat. Big problem as the local shops were not yet open to buy an alternative. We stayed one night and almost left at 3am because the smell from the mould was so unbearable. Avoid!! Plus all this wasn't very cheap, when we returned to marrakesh found beautiful large room for half this price by asking around, that was a better location, very clean and friendly, nearer to the square and stayed at that place a week. Can't stress enough how awful this place is.

I really advice to stay away from this place. The stuff was very rude for all the time! The cost was only 19euro per night and the riad had very good reviews so we book it through booking.com. When we arrived we were informed that we have to pay also city tax of ammount of 8euro (we got know later that the city tax is only 2euro per person per night so we were charged double!). When we arrived we were informed that there is problem with a room so we have to wait arround 45 min but generally it would be the best if we to go for sightseeing. When we said that we will wait, the waiting time expand to 2h but they didn't want to explain what is a problem that makes us waiting!!! After some short discusion we were informed that they are also owning another riad, just few steps away and that there is a room waiting for us. We took our luggage and were guided to the other riad. When we arrived there we were shown old, stinky room, were beddings weren't changed after the last customer, with an awful smell of mold and urine. When we rejected to stay there we came back to Riad Hannah and ask if there is a room for us or not, because if not we are just waisting our time here. Suddenly it appear that there is a room for us in THIS riad. When it came to the time of payment, paying by credit card was refused, even if there was a terminal for CC. When we asked to pay in Euro they refused to accept coins so we gave to the receptionist 30euro and received change in MAD - 30dirhams (19euro per room plus 8euro of a city tax). Next day we were asked to give back dirhams because we should receive only 3MAD not 30MAD. It took as quite some argue to convince receptionist that we were even given a bit to little change that too much but in my opinion she was just trying to cheat us, because no addult is such an ignorant in math to not to understand that 3euro x 10,83=32,49MAD not 3MAD!!!When the receptionis was feeling that there is no way we gonna give her back any dirhams she said I am speaking with her in a very unrespectful way and just went away! In the evening the receptionis was tallikng really loudly with some guy in english through Skype. It was so loud that we were able to hear every detail of this conversation even if we didn't want to.
As about the room, it's OK, the clima is working but the bathroom was full of mold and had a problem with drainage. Towels were extemly old and had holes.
Breakfast was very poor. Bread, coffe from a cheap plastic jar that made it stinking plastic, fake orange juice, half hard cooked egg already green which means it was cooked a long time ago plus 1kind of jam.

Summing up. I could stand the mold in a bathroom and holes in towels if the stuff would be kind, but I felt I was tritted like crap for all the time. Nice place but with awaful people! We definately sugest to change the receptionist, because the cockeyed girl shouldn't have any contact with clients, on any conditions never ever again!

We booked 2 nights in Riad Hannah for our second time in Marrakesh. When we went there the Lady at the reception, who was a little bit unpleasant, told us that our room was not ready...so we waited but then a boy brought us to another Riad that was right at the end of the same street, 30 seconds walking (Riad Dar Malak)...and this was just AMAZING!! The room was VERY nice and clean. We cannot say anything about Riad Hannah except for the very nice yard we saw. The morning after the attendant of Riad Dar Malak told us that we had to have breakfast at Riad Hannah...no problem! We went there and they looked at us like aliens...but they give us breakfast. The same morning we asked for early breakfast the day after because we had to go to the airport. The waitress said there where no problem. In the evening we went back at 10PM, asking if everything was ok for the early breakfast and if there would be problems with opening the door (because we had no keys of Riad Hannah but only of ours Riad): the lady who was at the reception the day before (we think the responsible) was dressing her hairs in the kitchen and without stopping her activity she told us, very unpolitely, that we should tell her earlier. We told her we already asked in the morning, then she said we would find something in the kitchen the morning after. Of course there was anything the day after, and the door was wide open...if we were some thiefs we would have absolutely no problem to come in.
I don't want to say the place is not nice, but the "welcoming" staff is anything nice or helpful. I would never come back again.

Room Tip: Skip Riad Hanna and go directly to Riad Dar Malak at the end of the street!
